Korean Dragon Ball film
[edit]Is posible to add mention of the Korean Dragon Ball film in the appearances in other media sections of the appropriate character articles with what little is known? Sarujo (talk) 18:53, 20 February 2009 (UTC)
- What?! They made a Korean film too?! Lord Sesshomaru (talk • edits) 19:25, 20 February 2009 (UTC)
- Some would call it goofy. But screenshots can be found here at the bottom. Daizex gives some honorable mention in their movie list with a tiny film cover image. But it appears that this film escape even them in knowledge. Sarujo (talk) 19:34, 20 February 2009 (UTC)
- Interesting. It's definitely worth a mention on Wikipedia. I saw the Chinese movie on YouTube last year, but have yet to see that one. On what video site can it be watched? Lord Sesshomaru (talk • edits) 20:05, 20 February 2009 (UTC)
- Well as of right now there doesn't appear to be one for this. And the fact that there no Korean Amazon, tracking down a copy is even tougher than tracking Magic Begins. I just located another sited, in Japanese, discussing the film. It also appears that people are also mistakingly calling this a Taiwanese picture from the digging I did on IMDb. I'll see if I can translate the page and get some info on this film. Sarujo (talk) 20:45, 20 February 2009 (UTC)
- The Japanese page is here. I learned that the villian with ther big ears is Pilaf. Shu looks like a Metal Hero rather that a Pembroke Welsh Corgi. Sarujo (talk) 20:59, 20 February 2009 (UTC)
- It also appears that the Japanese call this Dragon Ball: A Black Leaf (韓国実写版ドラゴンボール:a BLACK LEAF). I won't go the extra mile and call that the official title. Sarujo (talk) 21:26, 20 February 2009 (UTC)
- I looked at the Japanese link (used my translator of course). Couldn't find the year it was made though. Hey you think there's enough data to make an article? Lord Sesshomaru (talk • edits) 21:51, 20 February 2009 (UTC)
- If we have a general plot laied out, them we can make something like Save Virgil. A Black Leaf title might be the website. As a black leaf can be seen on their page on Magic Begins. As for the year Daizex list it as "19??", again they don't appear to know. Another Japanese page is this. Sarujo (talk) 23:00, 20 February 2009 (UTC)
I did more detective work and found the theatrical poster and a site that has what I'm guessing is film credits. Another site, this is a start. Sarujo (talk) 04:07, 21 February 2009 (UTC)
- 1990? Looks like we have a year, at least. Lord Sesshomaru (talk • edits) 05:15, 21 February 2009 (UTC)
I made a huge mistake in naming the actor for Monkey Boy in Magic Begins. It was Jin Tu and not Heo Seong-Tae. It seem Heo Seong-Tae was the boy who played Goku in this Korean Dragon Ball film. Sarujo (talk) 09:32, 21 February 2009 (UTC)
Recant, Jin Tu wasn't Monkey Boy, Chen Zi Qiang was Monkey Boy. Jin Tu was Sparkle. I'll get it right eventually. I found that Bulma's Korean actress was Lee Ju Hee. What I'm trying to find now is production company. Sarujo (talk) 06:12, 22 February 2009 (UTC)
I went ahead and created the page with what I got. Lets just hope I can add more as time goes by. Sarujo (talk) 07:59, 22 February 2009 (UTC)
- I guess, at this point, a Dragon Ball (disambiguation) would be helpful right about now. I'll get to working on that. Meanwhile, why don't you ask a sysop to move Dragon Ball (1990 film) to Dragon Ball (film)? Lord Sesshomaru (talk • edits) 21:59, 22 February 2009 (UTC)
- A sysop to move? Sarujo (talk) 22:22, 22 February 2009 (UTC)
- An administrator. Do you know of any you can ask? Lord Sesshomaru (talk • edits) 22:48, 22 February 2009 (UTC)
- I'm afraid I don't. Sarujo (talk) 22:54, 22 February 2009 (UTC)
Hey Sarujo, could you verify that? Lord Sesshomaru (talk • edits) 21:48, 14 April 2009 (UTC)
- Not sure myself, as I'm not completly aquanted with the language. I wonder if there is someone Korean film project that was completely fluent who could help out. Sarujo (talk) 00:42, 15 April 2009 (UTC)
Dragon Ball Kai
[edit]I've noticed that there's nothing on upcoming Dragon Ball Kai series on the main article. I know it's just been anounced, but still. Yet I added a redirect for DBK to the main article. What I'm thinking is maybe a section with:
- "In the of the Japanese Weekly Shonen Jump magazine, Toei made the announcement that in honor the 20th aniversary of Dragon Ball Z, they were working on a refresh of series that would feature footage re-edited and remastered in HD. Complete with new opening and closing sequinses and songs, sound effects, special effects, and a redub by the Japanese cast.[1] The February 16th issue later anounced that the refreshed series would be titled Dragon Ball Kai (ドラゴンボルカイ改, Doragon Bōru Kai Aratame, Dragon Ball Kai Revised), removing the Z all together.[2] This series will air on Sunday mornings a 9:00AM in the place of GeGeGe no Kitaro starting April 5th.[3]"
I may add more redirrects for other variation on the spelling, if necessary. Any thoughts? Sarujo (talk) 02:24, 21 February 2009 (UTC)
- What is it exactly? The same anime but in an all-new format? Lord Sesshomaru (talk • edits) 03:20, 21 February 2009 (UTC)
- For the most part, yes. From the rummors, there might be some new animation added and the episode are going to be condenced to about a hundread episodes. What's up above has been confirmed by Shonen Jump. Sarujo (talk) 04:07, 21 February 2009 (UTC)
- Can't wait to see it! You know, I never did like the voice providers for Roshi since Miyauchi died. Hope they get someone just as funny. So, Sarujo, how do you know all these things? Lord Sesshomaru (talk • edits) 05:12, 21 February 2009 (UTC)
- I look up keywords words in this case it was "드래곤볼 1990" as forum had posted a nonfuntional vid of the film's introduction. Which the poster, whoever they were, stated the film's year was 1990. So after deadend searches that featured results about DBE premiring internationally in Korea. I put two-and-two together and pulled up the search in with the above words and struck gold. One of those pages I think states the full release date as December 12th. Guess I'll do some more work. Sarujo (talk) 05:52, 21 February 2009 (UTC)
Where would be a good place in the main article to put the DBK info? Should this get it own section or what? Sarujo (talk) 21:17, 21 February 2009 (UTC)
- Sounds like it can go to Specials. Or how about somewhere in Anime series? Lord Sesshomaru (talk • edits) 21:26, 21 February 2009 (UTC)
- Maybe after GT, As this isn't a one day thing like Trunks, Bardock, and Goku Jr, there's no need for it to be listed under specials. Sarujo (talk) 22:15, 21 February 2009 (UTC)
There's more news out, So I'll add on.
- "Another anouncement in February's V Jump reveailed that the footage would be edited to follow the manga more closely. making the story move swifter. The footage would receive an exstensive overhaul. Removing the film damages and using HD technology to make the picture more clearer and vibrant, and stretching the picture ratio." [4]
I'll go ahead and add the DBK infomation to the article. Also the officle website was launched whe can be seen here. Sarujo (talk) 23:19, 23 February 2009 (UTC)
So, It's got removed by Collectonian. I said my peace in the talk page. But why should confirmed information be removed because uncertainty. Sarujo (talk) 02:26, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
I'm franticly working on an episode list which has slot for 100 episodes. As four were orginally anounced in I think V Jump a short while back. I also learned that that the series airs before One Piece at 9AM. So Fuji TV is naming the hour block Dream 9 (ドリーム9, Dorīmu Nain). Complete with logo promotional image seen here. Sarujo (talk) 00:42, 15 April 2009 (UTC)
Favour
[edit]I find two changes by 69.121.87.15 questionable. Since you dealt with the Dragon Ball voice actors, could you look into the anon's edits? Lord Sesshomaru (talk • edits) 05:04, 21 February 2009 (UTC)
- It appears to be Leslie via both ANN and IMDd. Sarujo (talk) 05:52, 21 February 2009 (UTC)
- Strange, why isn't there a mention of this at Leslie Alexander? Could be someone with the same name. Lord Sesshomaru (talk • edits) 06:28, 21 February 2009 (UTC)
- Oh, I thought you were talking about spelling issues. I have not seen this movie. Maybe I can find a video on YouTube. Sarujo (talk) 06:31, 21 February 2009 (UTC)
- It's just that I doubt some former stock investor (associated with the NBA?) is also a part-time voice actor. Lord Sesshomaru (talk • edits) 06:43, 21 February 2009 (UTC)
- When can you look more into this? Lord Sesshomaru (talk • edits) 23:48, 23 February 2009 (UTC)
- I watched Sleeping Princess along with Magic Begins and the Vidmark version Curse of the Blood Rubies over the weekend. And I find some of the claims in the two articles a little screwy. For example, the narrator sounds nothing like Doc Harris. But the change for Bulma in Sleeping Princess is correct. Sarujo (talk) 00:03, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
- Since I can't find any sources hinting that this is the same individual, I'll just go ahead and disambiguate it to Leslie Alexander (voice actor). Thoughts? Lord Sesshomaru (talk • edits) 17:18, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
- Sounds good. I might have believed that she was a basketball player if that article said WNBA. Sarujo (talk) 20:58, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
- LOL, you're right! I forget that the voice provider was a woman. Well, off to make the alterations ;) Lord Sesshomaru (talk • edits) 21:13, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
- Done, hope I didn't miss any other areas. And the dabbing prolly should've been "voice actress" or "actress" but not "voice actor". (there's Laura Bailey (voice actress), Jessica Straus (voice actress), Karen Thompson (voice actress), etc.) Thoughts? Lord Sesshomaru (talk • edits) 21:29, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
- In alot of actor categories women are included and in many cases they are refered as a female actor. On television I don't here the word much anymore. Maybe in award shows, but I don't watch those. Sarujo (talk) 21:39, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
- Changed it based on the above precedents, and have watchlisted both red links to see which may get created first. Lord Sesshomaru (talk • edits) 03:35, 25 February 2009 (UTC)
My 2¢ on the DBZ images
[edit]It seems that Zarbon really knows nothing on copyrights The thing I got when you and Collectonian told was to find an image that represents all the characters and his favorites and replace the one I uploaded. Was I right? Yet this user wants to run everybody through the ringer and calls of malicious activity on my part. "The person who initially removed them (Sarujo) gave no reference to policy or anything for that matter". It was my belief that a user didn't need to state the obvious when the ends justify the means. The images are a violation of the Wikipedia policy, so the right thing to do was to remove them. When I was considering the image I had two choices, the one currently up, and the image that makes up the spines of the original tankobon. I ultimately went with my gut and chose the "Goodbye" as 1) it depicted the principle cast as they looked at series end, and 2) When the tankobon image is fully assembled, it creates a uber long image. "Another annoying thing is how the page is set up like a mess. It was much, and I mean, MUCH better when all the characters had their pages instead of three to four lines of basic description." Sure the article may look like "a mess", but there's no need to increase the messyness by filling a page with a gross abundance of pictures of various characters that may or may not be important to a television series or, in this case, a franchise. Which is what will happen if multiple images is given a green light in list articles. "Also, the images were there for two years now all of a sudden, they are non-free? That serves no rationale whatsoever". Does Zarbon not know what a rationale is? Or Am I missing something here. Rationale is not, as far I know, not a cause of action. It a descriptive claim on a particular media. In this case, an image. And if one were to look at their pages they'd see that there are equipped with the proper rationales that shows that they are copyrighted images. Maybe I'm just not seeing the bigger picture. Sarujo (talk) 07:57, 21 February 2009 (UTC)
- After a talk Collectonian and I had with Zarbon, I'm thinking (s)he now understands the severity of the issue. Lord Sesshomaru (talk • edits) 18:03, 21 February 2009 (UTC)
Did you catch this earlier in the day? I undid the edit some time later because it lacked sourcing. Perhaps you could find the date? Lord Sesshomaru (talk • edits) 04:52, 25 February 2009 (UTC)
- That would seem like the right year but I would have guessed it was 1990. I'll look it up. Sarujo (talk) 01:57, 27 February 2009 (UTC)
- Wait, I'll need the chapter that he first appeared in 0_0. Sarujo (talk) 02:01, 27 February 2009 (UTC)
- Dragon Ball Z manga, volume 5, chapter 53, "Planet Namek, Cold and Dark". ISBN 1-56931-934-0. You barely see him from afar on page 105 but the next page shows him close up (with Dodoria and Zarbon). Albeit it's not his first reference, do you also want the first time he is mentioned? Lord Sesshomaru (talk • edits) 02:30, 27 February 2009 (UTC)
- No need for pages that merly talk about him. Anyway, I learned that the claim and my guess were way off it was November 6, 1989. Sarujo (talk) 02:52, 27 February 2009 (UTC)
I'll see what I can do, but I'm not sure if I can. Even though the name is derived from that word, I think that Freezer might be just a fans dirrect translation. The copies of the Anime Labs sub of episodes 118, 119, and 120 I had somewhile back before they were erased, called them Freezer's Last Stand or something to that letter. Sarujo (talk) 00:36, 31 March 2009 (UTC)
- OK, you let me know what you see ;) Lord Sesshomaru (talk • edits) 01:23, 1 April 2009 (UTC)
I had a feeling that the IGN article was going to cause complications. Now people are complaining about the use of the words "bad mofo" in the talk page. Don't don't see the big deal.
Also there is at least two complants about dates not just in the Frieza article but all articles. With one anonymous IP calling it a "bad source". But I was certain that this would be a well known fact, well actually I knew that there were people who didn't or understand. But never would have dream that they would boldly chalange the book's credibility. The Daizenshu's are published by Shueisha the folks the published Weekly Shonen Jump, the tankobon sets, and the kazenban sets. So there shouldn't be any question of the source books credibility. Even other Dragon Ball related things like the game Origins, which I just got my hands on, starts off with the line "Long long ago...". Sarujo (talk) 16:11, 4 April 2009 (UTC)
- I see IGN used all the time. Some people just don't agree with all reliable sources, I guess. It's happened in Tite Kubo, and now it's happening at Tupac Shakur. It's unfortunate, but we have to deal with this crap sometimes right? Lord Sesshomaru (talk • edits) 22:14, 4 April 2009 (UTC)
I added all the know covers to the song, but I don't feel conterble with it's appearance. Maybe you checked the article and see what need improving. Sarujo (talk) 09:49, 6 March 2009 (UTC)
- Wish I could help but I don't normally deal with these types of pages. It looks OK to me though. Perhaps you could ask for assistance from WP:WPMU or WP:SINGLE? Lord Sesshomaru (talk • edits) 22:30, 6 March 2009 (UTC)
Dragon Ball
[edit]Hi there! Since you seem to be a Dragon Ball fan, do you know where I might find this: Dragon Ball Z - 'The History of Trunks' Soundtrack Thank you in advance! --Avant-garde a clue-hexaChord2 04:40, 8 March 2009 (UTC)
- Wow, I believe you have stumbled on something that is foreign to my knowledge. As I recall years back on a few of the Funimation VHS's. A soundtrack that was exclusive for The History of Trunks was in the works. But that advertisement stated that the contents would be the songs by licensed rock bands. Yet what you've presented to me doesn't give me alot to go on as far as things like catalog numbers and the such. Sarujo (talk) 12:03, 8 March 2009 (UTC)
- I don't know much more. It's only interesting for me, because it contains an otherwise unreleased song by Buckethead and Bootsy Collins on disc one. I made a little search but didn't find anything. It's no fake, it really exists, that's for sure. --Avant-garde a clue-hexaChord2 18:49, 8 March 2009 (UTC)
Sourcing
[edit]Thanks. Feel free to do what I did in the future. :) Cirt (talk) 19:20, 17 March 2009 (UTC)
re Image copies
[edit]I suppose old versions could be deleted leaving only the current one, but I don't see why. Cirt (talk) 05:13, 25 March 2009 (UTC)
- Wouldn't mutiple version of the image be a waste of space on it's page, that was my concern. Sarujo (talk) 06:32, 25 March 2009 (UTC)
re Not All Dogs Go to Heaven
[edit]Looks okay at the moment. Cirt (talk) 10:21, 30 March 2009 (UTC)
Okay, thanks. Sarujo (talk) 11:49, 30 March 2009 (UTC)
Listen. There is absolutely no need to edit war on this page. Initially, I felt that there should be a mention of the cover, so I added it. Then you completely reworded it into something that didn't have good diction or grammar (in my opinion) and I fixed it. So what if it has an infobox? I'm improving the article, and all you've been doing is removing portions that I added in good faith, including a link to Enson (album) which myself, or someone else, could come along later and create the article for.—Ryūlóng (竜龙) 20:44, 5 April 2009 (UTC)
Before you remove all of that content I added, again, respond to me here.—Ryūlóng (竜龙) 22:14, 5 April 2009 (UTC)
- Ok, nobody's saying that it shouldn't be mentioned. Yet a gross over abundance of infoboxes is not nessary, especially for every single cover or revamp of a song. Also, just because an album's title or track list is in all caps does not justify the use of all caps in an article. As it fails MOS. Sarujo (talk) 14:50, 6 April 2009 (UTC)
- The manuals of style are guidelines and not policies. If the album title is written in entirely capital letters, then I would prefer if you left it the way I stylized it. Your extreme focus on how my additions to the article being harmful is really rubbing me the wrong way.—Ryūlóng (竜龙) 21:04, 7 April 2009 (UTC)
- There are a lot properties that feature their titles in all caps. Yet, that is no jutification for an article to use such formating. Only in rare exceptions is the guideline to bent, and this not one of those exceptions. In this case all your doing is shouting the name Enson, or throwing the name in the reader's face.
- Also the name the Might Raw is not a band name, it is one of Mr. Wasserman's stage names. And no where is it mention that Raw is an acronym. You need a reliable source stating it as such otherwise it will be reduced to single cap. Sarujo (talk) 21:29, 7 April 2009 (UTC)
- Everywhere, seeing as he and his "band" are American, he is credited as "The Mighty RAW" (Ron Aaron Wasserman). Initialisms are allowed to be in all caps. And everywhere, even though the album is Japanese, the album at Enson (album) is stylized as "ENSON". Guidelines can be bent if the editors feel they should. That is why they are not policy. I disagree with that one particular aspect of the capitalization MoS. I have in the past, and I will continue to do so.—Ryūlóng (竜龙) 18:13, 8 April 2009 (UTC)
- Who's arguing that he was anything but American? Again, sources are need stating that it an acronym and the name extends past Wasserman. On most albums he is presented as "Aaron Waters-The Might Raw". There is no and or ampersand in the title. The band is nothing more than just a backup band. That's like calling Michael Jackson's backup band Michael Jackson.
- I reiterate, stylization is not justification for all caps. There are tons of properties that stylize in big block caps such as Sonic the Hedgehog, Spider-Man, Dragon Ball, Transformers, and even Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. But you don't see anybody else going to such unnecessary lengths presenting the title identically as they. People tried to take the same method with property Eureka Seven and the band The Pillows, presenting them as it was displayed commercially "Eureka seveN" and "the pillows".
