What does a signed talk page entry look like? Sarahtippedin (talk) 19:43, 1 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to try posting on someone else's talk page, you are free to post a note on mine. Don't forget to add a section and sign. :) S0091 (talk) 19:53, 1 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, that was just a test for me to see for myself what the signed entry looks like. From my survey of some of the info you linked me to, it looks like my major error was marking non-minor edits as minor (I was unaware of the Wikipedia-specific meaning, sorry). I was using Citation Hunt to add citations. Sarahtippedin (talk) 19:57, 1 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, I didn't mean to impede your testing. I just was offering if you wanted to practice leaving a message on someone's else's talk page, you are welcome to practice on mine. No worries about the minor edit thing as that is perfectly understandable from new-ish editor and certainly happens sometimes with experienced editors. Also, if you ever have questions or need help, do not hesitate to ask at the Teahouse. Happy editing!! S0091 (talk) 20:08, 1 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Example of new section

[edit]

Here is an example. S0091 (talk) 19:53, 1 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

A new section

[edit]

This is what a new section might look like. There are a whole lot of detailed rules and norms to learn. I mostly just want to use my library skills to improve articles. Sarahtippedin (talk) 19:59, 1 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I tried adding a citation to the ransomware section of the vandalism article, but the page was locked to newcomers with fewer than 10 edits. Reasonable, sure. There's a pretty good summary of ransomware in the "computer virus" entry in the Gale Encyclopedia of Science. Sarahtippedin (talk) 20:01, 1 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
