restoring a Bitsquare (software) article in Wikipedia

Hello Sarahj2107,

I'm fairly new to editing Wikipedia, having contributed a few sentences with independent documentation here and there. I'd like to try restoring the deleted Bitsquare page, as Bitsquare has been downloaded some 44,000 times and there's a growing community of users worldwide[1][2].

I noticed that you deleted the page after it was flagged for not meeting Wikipedia's General Notability Guidelines (GNG) and for being Too Soon. I believe that there is adequate independent third-party coverage by at least four different sources, fulfilling the GNG: Bitcoin Magazine, Cryptocompare, CoinDesk, and news.bitcoin.com. Regarding the previous article having been "Too Soon", currently Bitsquare is listed as an international exchange on bitcoin.org and Andreas Antonopoulos, one of bitcoin's most prominent explainers, cited Bitsquare on Twitter as his proof that decentralized bitcoin exchanges exist.

I'm creating User:Jwiki11235/BitSquare as a place to draft the updated Bitsquare page.

Please let me know if there's anything I've missed, or if you think the sources I've presented don't adequately address the reasons why the Bitsquare page was deleted.

Thanks,

Jwiki11235 (talk) 22:08, 13 February 2017 (UTC)

Hi Jwiki11235. I have had a look at your draft and I don't think the sources are going to be enough to satisfy the notability guidelines. #1 is the official site so not independent. #2 is just a list of exchanges and doesn't have significant coverage. #3 goes into a bit more detail which is good, but in the deletion discussion concerns were raised about sources that feed off press releases and this one reads a bit like that to me. #4 I can't access this one. #5 This seems like a primary source to me, I don't thinks it's suitable for proving notability. #6 Has a brief mention but doesn't go into enough detail. Mentions on twitter don't count towards notability no matter who it is from. I'm not sure about being listed as an international exchange.
Overall I still don't think there is enough significant coverage in independent, reliable sources to prove notability. I wouldn't feel comfortable giving the okay to move your draft to main space, and I couldn't guarantee that it wouldn't get deleted again. It might still be too soon for an article on this but you could try submitting it via WP:Articles for creation to see what other editors think. Sarahj2107 (talk) 08:49, 14 February 2017 (UTC)

Why did you delete the List of multiplatform video games not available on PC article?

Why did you delete that article?, i was using it and it was extremely helpful and had lots of valuable information that is now lost/inaccessible thanks to the deletion. Could you restore it or maybe give me a copyt so i could at least view it?. There's not a single article on the web with the same info of that one and i'd lose literally days of browsing through much longer and varied articles to obtain the same information. — Preceding unsigned comment added by NickTheConqueror (talkcontribs) 06:32, 15 February 2017 (UTC)

Hi NickTheConqueror. The page was deleted following a discussion here, where I judged the consensus to be to delete. It can't be restored but I will email you a copy of the list. Sarahj2107 (talk) 14:55, 15 February 2017 (UTC)

Khristian Mizzi deletion

Hi there, would you consider adding this page again. He has recently been presented with two notable awards - The Troubadour Foundation Award 2017 and The Alex Legg Memorial Foundation award 2017 - [1]Ofonekind (talk) 09:54, 17 February 2017 (UTC)

Hi Ofonekind. I'm not familiar with those awards, neither has a Wikipedia article and I don't know if they would count towards notabiliy guidelines for muscicians. I've done a quick search and I'm not seeing significant coverage in reliable, independent sources. I'm sorry but I don't feel comfortable restoring it at this time. • A recent query shows that only 16% of administrators on the English Wikipedia have enabled two-factor authentication. If you haven't already enabled it please consider doing so.
  • Cookie blocks should be deployed to the English Wikipedia soon. This will extend the current autoblock system by setting a cookie for each block, which will then autoblock the user after they switch accounts under a new IP.
  • A bot will now automatically place a protection template on protected pages when admins forget to do so.

Bijay Ketan Swain

You have rejected a CSD with "Declined Speedy Deletion - credible claim of significance is made".

Excuse me, but this thing is a blatant autobiographical hoax written by User:Bijay Ketan Swain himself. Please THINK deletion requests through before rejecting any more. Thank you. Jack | talk page 17:16, 3 March 2017 (UTC)

BlackJack I reviewed article and declined the speedy deletion in an offical admin capacity. Please do not revert that. If anybody disagrees with a speedy deletion, as I do, then it no longer uncontroversial and needs to go to AfD. Sarahj2107 (talk) 17:20, 3 March 2017 (UTC)
And, by the way, this was previously tagged as A7. Being a politician is a credible claim of significance so it's clearly not eligible for A7. Sarahj2107 (talk) 17:23, 3 March 2017 (UTC)
Why not accept that you are wrong on this occasion. The so-called "administrators" on this site are not infallible, you know. The "editor" has been given a warning, has been reported to ARV. There are now three editors who want this thing deleted via CSD. It is a b;latant hoax as anyone can see written by the article creator himself. Jack | talk page 17:24, 3 March 2017 (UTC)

A Blatant hoax autobiography of user

The Bijay Ketan Swain has been proved a hoax page why then do you refuse it's speedy delete? Do I sense something here? I could always request several other admin's to look into this situation. You better be sure of your actions. Celestina007 (talk) 17:25, 3 March 2017 (UTC)

I agree. I've restored the CSD and given it a G3 because it is a blatant hoax. Jack | talk page 17:27, 3 March 2017 (UTC)
Celestina007, BlackJack - if either of you are going to accuse me of something then you better be VERY sure of it and have plenty of diffs to back that up. When you do, take it ANI. Otherwise it is bordering on a personal attack and clearly assuming bad faith. Sarahj2107 (talk) 17:30, 3 March 2017 (UTC)
See the AfD and calm down. No one is going to ANI over a silly issue like this which will, as you say yourself, be sorted in seven days instead of one. And I agree with you that Celestina should not be using ALLCAPS but she is still a relative WP:NEWBIE. Thanks. Jack | talk page 18:45, 3 March 2017 (UTC)

Please Recover The Black Metaphor Page

There's a big feud going on in hip hop between Rick Ross and Bird Man. Rick Ross made a diss track named "Idols become Rivals". Here's the official wiki link for the Rick Ross album: [1] Track Number 3, "Idols become rivals' credits production to Black Metaphor.

Here are a few other RECENT links that verify Black Metaphor's notability from independent sources: 1.http://djbooth.net/news/entry/2017-03-16-rick-ross-rather-you-than-me-album-producers 2.notable mention of his production on national radio. @Peacemvmt1: We have discussed this at length previously [3] and there was a DRV (Wikipedia:Deletion_review/Log/2016 November 12) which closed as endorse. I don't have time to look into this and check your claims that he now meets 7 points in WP:NMUSIC, however I have my doubt about that and at a quick glance I don't see that anything has changed in the last 3 to 4 months, so I won't be restoring it. You are free to take it back to WP:DRV. Sarahj2107 (talk) 08:09, 21 March 2017 (UTC)

Guideline and policy news

  • Following a discussion on the backlog of unpatrolled files, consensus was found to create a new user right for autopatrolling file uploads. Implementation progress can be tracked on Phabricator.
  • The BLPPROD grandfather clause, which stated that unreferenced biographies of living persons were only eligible for proposed deletion if they were created after March 18, 2010, has been removed following an RfC.
  • An RfC has closed with consensus to allow proposed deletion of files. The implementation process is ongoing.
  • After an unsuccessful proposal to automatically grant IP block exemption, consensus was found to relax the criteria for granting the user right from needing it to wanting it.

Technical news

  • After a recent RfC, moved pages will soon be featured in a queue similar to Special:NewPagesFeed and require patrolling. Moves by administrators, page movers, and autopatrolled editors will be automatically marked as patrolled.
  • Cookie blocks have been deployed. This extends the current autoblock system by setting a cookie for each block, which will then autoblock the user if they switch accounts, even under a new IP.

Lance Strate restoration?

Hi Sarah - I'm thinking of trying to restore the article Lance Strate, which I see was deleted after due discussion on 29 November 2015. Since then, Lance Strate has been quoted in the NY Times, and appeared on NPR, and German and Japanese television, etc (as an expert about social media), and has written or edited some half a dozen new books. What would be the best way of enabling a restoration? (I had nothing to do with the creation of the original Lance Strate article. I am a professor at Fordham University, as is Lance Strate, but I have nothing to personally or professionally to gain by the article's restoration.) Thanks, PaulLev (talk) 20:01, 1 April 2017 (UTC)

Hi PaulLev, I have restored the article and moved it to Draft:Lance Strate for you to work on. You will need to add more reliable, independent sources to meet the notability guidelines before it is moved back to the main article space. If you need any further help, just let me know. Sarahj2107 (talk) 20:20, 1 April 2017 (UTC)
Thanks Sarahj2107! Will do. PaulLev (talk) 21:15, 1 April 2017 (UTC)
Ok, I've completed a substantially re-written draft, with references - NY Times, Guardian, etc. What's the next step? Thanks. PaulLev (talk) 17:25, 18 April 2017 (UTC)
@PaulLev: Good job. It's a definite improvement to the previous version so I have moved it back to article space. A minor concern is that a lot of the sources have only brief mentions rather than the significant coverage required by the general notability guidelines. However I think he meets WP:NACADEMIC #5 as he was Endowed Chair at Villanova University. If you find any more reliable sources then please add them because it can only help. I will do some minor clean up and copy editing tomorrow when I have a bit more time. Sarahj2107 (talk) 18:00, 18 April 2017 (UTC)
@Sarahj2107: Thank you Sarah - much appreciated! And I will indeed keep looking for reliable, lengthier sources I can add. PaulLev (talk) 20:18, 18 April 2017 (UTC)

Kayako article deletion

I went to contribute a recent TechCrunch interview with the Kayako founder and CEO Varun Shoor tot he Kayako article and found it was deleted for lack of notability. I found this surprising, because it seems there is a lot to note about the Kayako company which multiple sources of note cite as unusual for being one of India's first software product startups to go international, and for scaling without external investment. Anyway, I put together what I hope is an improved and more up to date article under Draft:Kayako including the addition(s) I came to make. My connection to Kayako is I am a customer and also a neighbour to their London office in TechHub and my motiivation is that I've made contributions to the original Kayako article before. If LiveChat, Expensify satisfy notability guidelines, surely Draft:Kayako would too. I am not sure what the steps for recreation or undeletion are, but I hope my Draft:Kayako is useful 109.159.159.194 (talk) 17:51, 19 April 2017 (UTC)

Hi, I have moved this discussion to the bottom of the page to keep things in order. I have had a look at the draft and it is different enough from the deleted version to allow recreation. It's definitely less promotional in tone, which was one of the concerns raised in the deletion discussion, and appears to have enough suitable sources to meet the notability guidelines. One minor issue is the link to S-1 which points to a Disambiguation page. Could you have a look and specify which page you would like that link pointed to? Reason for deleting creditmonk page

Please let me know why the page is been deleted — Preceding unsigned comment added by Vigneshnaik2507 (talkcontribs) 10:35, 20 April 2017 (UTC)

@Vigneshnaik2507: The page was deleted because it was purely promotional material. It read like an offical company website which is not appropriate for an encyclopaedic article. The article also failed to provide any indication as to why it was signficant enough to warrant an article here. Please read the guidelines and policies linked to on your talk page which should give you a better understanding of the type of content we consider exceptable. Inquiry about the article rejection

Dear Sarah,

I am writing an article about Fawry for Documentation and not for propaganda, which is the most famous E-payment network in Egypt, and don't have a page in Wikipedia. I try to follow the Wikipedia rules, and if you find any errors in the article, I will modify them firsthand.

thanks for your cooperation. — Preceding unsigned comment added by DoniaMohamed (talkcontribs) 12:04, 20 April 2017 (UTC)

Hi DoniaMohamed. It may not have been your intention but the content is written in a tone that is too promotional for Wikipedia. Things like " It offers a convenient and reliable way to pay bills and other services..." and "Our solutions are built on world-class technology from IBM and Cisco, and our data centre is ISO-certified, offering world-class end-to-end security." are not acceptable and sound like you are just trying to promote the company. Please read this page for more information. Your draft has again been tagged for deletion. I will let someone else delete it this time so you have confirmation from two separate admins that the content is not inline with our policies. Sarahj2107 (talk) 12:15, 20 April 2017 (UTC)

my page you deleted

Hi Sarah

I'm writing a Wikipedia page about my boss, Florin Baeriswyl, who as achieved great things in his career and who is well-known in many Switzerland, in China and in the US. I hope you don't feel the need to delete it again. I should be done with it on Monday. Am I doing something wrong? If so, let me know ASAP. This is my first time creating a Wikipedia page.

Thanks

Kim.eichenberger (talk) 08:39, 21 April 2017 (UTC)

Hi Kim.eichenberger. I didn't delete your page I only requested that it be deleted. Juliancolton is the person that performed the deletion so you may want to contact him. It was deleted because there was no credible claim of significance. The current version does seem to make a claim of significance but is completely unsourced and very promotional in tone. You need to provide multiple reliable, independent sources which cover the subject in detail, and remove the promotional language. If not then it will be deleted again. Please also note that you have a conflict of interest because the person is your boss, and as such you should not be creating pages about him. If you are being paid to make this article you need to disclose that per our policy on paid editing. Sarahj2107 (talk) 08:57, 21 April 2017 (UTC)

I'm not being paid for this.

I spent a significant amount of time working on the article that now is all gone. I thought I had 7 days? I was just trying to improve it like you suggested and now it's gone. How can I get it back????

Kim.eichenberger (talk) 09:15, 21 April 2017 (UTC)

@Kim.eichenberger: You had seven days to add a reliable source. I had removed a significant portion of it in an attempt to reduce the promotional content but I see you have added it back. The article as a whole is not appropriate for an encyclopaedia. I have noticed that you had the similar issues on the German Wikipedia earlier this month so it shouldn't come as a great surprise to you that there are issues here too. Sarahj2107 (talk) 09:34, 21 April 2017 (UTC)

If you think it's promotional, perhaps you didn't read the entire article. I now added reliable sources to take care of that problem. I'm now looking for what you think are promotional parts of the texts, but I cannot find them. Would you mind telling me which parts are promotional?

I wanted to delete the article on the Swiss server myself, because I wanted to do it in English, but I didn't know how. Wikipedia is not very user-friendly.

I'd appreciate some understanding and some help or at least some clarification about what you see as promotional.

Kim.eichenberger (talk) 09:51, 21 April 2017 (UTC)

In my opinion, the whole article is promotional. Reliable sources will not fix that and almost all of the links you have added are primary sources anyway, which cannot be used to prove he meets the notability guidelines. Examples of particularly promotional parts include "Florin Baeriswyl with his DAI team supported AK to build a sustainable brand and to define its creative expression based on values such as sophistication, quality, performance and passion", "the bank’s historic landmark building hall that was also used as an event hall to communicate the new brand culture." and "Brand and design creates value."
However, the whole article is structured like a CV and gives the impression that it is only here to promote this person. The list of clients is also not acceptable for an encyclopaedic article. I will wait to see if another admin agrees that it should be speedy deleted. If it is then it should not be recreated. If it isn't then I will be nominating it for deletion through the articles for deletion process because I cannot find enough independent, reliable sources to prove this person meets our notability guidelines. Sarahj2107 (talk) 10:02, 21 April 2017 (UTC)

Me again.

Hi

If I rewrite all the texts so they are no longer "promotional" and I remove the client list (which I don't understand in the first place why it isn't acceptable, since it's only facts, he worked for those people), will you allow me to keep the page up?

Please let me know ASAP so I can start rewriting the texts if you say it'll stay up...

Kim.eichenberger (talk) 06:33, 24 April 2017 (UTC)

Kim.eichenberger You have given me no indication that you understand the promotional nature of your edits and you have a conflict of interest. I don't think it's a good idea to create this article again. If you do I can not guarantee it will not be deleted again. If there are still problems with it being promotional, you may be blocked from editing to prevent further promotional content being added to the project. I suggest you leave this topic for someone else to write about; if it a notable topic someone will eventually create an article about it. Sarahj2107 (talk) 07:08, 24 April 2017 (UTC)

Hi Sarah again

I am using this wikipedia page as an inspiration on how to structure and write the article. Is that OK? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Louis_Kahn#Timeline_of_works

Kim.eichenberger (talk) 07:30, 24 April 2017 (UTC)

I still don't think you should be creating it but if you must try again you should create it in draft space first. You can look at other articles for ideas but remember that they may have unaddressed issues of their own. This will be your last chance at this though. Sarahj2107 (talk) 07:48, 24 April 2017 (UTC)

GAPS diet article

Hi, Sarah. I have never written to anyone on Wikipedia, let alone an administrator, so I hope I am doing this right.

I am a physician practicing in the US (Texas) and I am working on a project dealing with debunking some pseudo-science/pseudo-medicine claims. I am trying to put together a lecture or series of lectures for medical students, so they are not caught off-guard when a patient mentions some of these false therapies.

I have come across this GAPS diet in several places and was led here by a link on the web site Science Based Medicine from 2013. I see this article has been deleted, and "salted" which I had to read up on to understand what that means.

Mainly I am writing to you to ask if there is any way for me to access an archived copy of the article for my use, to see any references that might be helpful to me. Also, it is helpful when presenting this subject to people to have the Wikipedia history on this, since Wikipedia is a respected source of information, and the fact this subject has been salted is significant.

Also, I would like to offer my perspective on whether this article should have been deleted and salted. I see two issues here -- one is whether the topic is "notable" and the other is whether this topic is even legitimate medicine at all.

I understand that the article was deleted based on the topic not being not "notable". Although bogus, I do think it is notable. This diet is mentioned in many pseudo-medicine sources. It is prominently featured on Joseph Mercola's website, for example. It is one of the central core ideas in a New York Times bestselling book on pseudo-medicine therapy for Hashimoto disease. If you search by Google for treatments for autism, it will show up repeatedly. It is a completely quack therapy of course, but still, it is very common to see this diet mentioned in the alternative medicine community.

As for the matter of this being fringe pseudo-science quackery, I agree. There is no evidence this diet is helpful, and it may even be harmful. But would it not be good to have an article on the topic that provides that information to readers? Wikipedia has a lot of good articles on pseudo-medicine and quackery, even including this one. One highly respected medical reference for professionals, UpToDate, has a long article on "complementary and alternative therapies" for autism, and while they do not specifically mention the GAPS diet (or any other specific diet), they do have a section explaining the cluster of ideas that GAPS purports to address (increased gut permeability, gluten and casein intolerance, etc.). Wikipedia has an article on the non-existent Leaky gut syndrome which is closely related to the GAPS diet's alleged pathophysiology.

Thanks for your efforts on Wikipedia and for your time in considering my comments.

Michael Condron, M.D. Mikecondron (talk) 14:40, 14 May 2017 (UTC)

Hi Mikecondron. I will email you a copy of the article for you to see. The deletion discusion will give the best understanding of why it was deleted. The consensus among people there was that the topic doesn't meet our notability guidelines as it is only covered in a small section of the alt-med media. We require multiple independent, reliable sources covering the topic in detail in order to create an accurate, reliable and balanced article. Things like the tin foil hat have been discussed in the wider media. Sarahj2107 (talk) 09:43, 15 May 2017 (UTC)

Thank you very much Sarah2107!! I got the email, and it helps me with my project significantly. I did read the discussion on the deletion, but I'm not sure I agree with some of what was said there. Not that I am endorsing this diet or the pseudo-science behind it, but rather how "notable" it is within the alt-med community. I will read the section on notability and get back to you. It is a little odd trying to sort out how "notable" one bit of nonsense is within the general community of nonsense. I do understand Wikipedia needs to adhere to some standards. Mikecondron (talk) 03:22, 16 May 2017 (UTC)

Rajamanohar page deleted

Hi Sarah, I am Kailas Sathyan, an alumnus of IIT Kanpur, one of the top engineering schools of India. Raja was my senior at the school. As a fellow alumnus, I created an article about Raja when he received the distinguished TED fellowship and 'Young global leadership' award from World Economic forum. However this article has been modified by several others on many occasions. I remember quoting the right reference links when I created the article.

I am disappointed to see the comment 'The sources given are either not significantly about the article subject, not independent, or not reliable. The Awards are mostly run-of-the-mill non-notable business awards. No demonstration of notability under general or specific notability guidelines. Eggishorn (talk) (contrib) 19:37, 9 May 2017 (UTC)'

Young global leader award by the World economic forum is offered to highly accomplished personalities in their domain. certainly not a run-of-the mill award! it is given to Fortune 500 CEOs and other Heads of the states. I remember French president Macron is one among them. Raja received the award in 2012. You may learn about the the other notable figures through these link [1] [2] [3]

Here are few other references to prove his credibility - in 2016, he received Draper Hills Summer fellowship from Stanford. Here is the official page link from Stanford [4]

- He is also a TED India fellow since 2009 [5]

- He received Indiafrica fellowship in 2011, supported by the Public Diplomacy Division, Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India. [6]

- Team Hexolabs won MIT TR35 award , Social Innovator of the year 2012 [7] [8]

Raja is certainly a notable, distinguished alumni from our school. He certainly deserves a mention here. you may refer the similar wikipedia pages for World Economic Forum YGLs. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Young_Global_Leaders

Hope you would revisit and undo the deletion. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sathyan80 (talkcontribs) 19:22, 21 May 2017 (UTC) Sathyan80 (talk) 04:59, 22 May 2017 (UTC)

Hi, Sathyan80. It was not my decision to delete the page, I just determined the consensus at the deletion discussion and carried out the action and as such, I cannot overturn that decision. In this case, the consensus was that there are not enough independant, reliable sources that cover the subject in detail. Another concern was that the content was overly promotional. You need to provide suitable sources as detailed in the notability guidelines. If you disagree with my close of the deletion discussion then I suggest you take it to deletion review. Sarahj2107 (talk) 07:55, 24 May 2017 (UTC)

Hi, Sarahj2107. Thanks for the prompt response. I read the discussion on the deletion, but I'm not sure I agree with some of what was said there on Notability sources. I am confident that above sources/references adhere to the standards suggested by the notability guidelines. In past, several other editors verified tone and sources. You may verify the history.

However I am looking at rewriting the content that emphasizes neutral tone. This should fix the concern of the content being promotional. Appreciate if you can help me with the following queries.

1. Can you share the deleted content as I couldn’t access it anymore?

2. Can I edit the article to rewrite and add more references before submitting it for the review? Sathyan80 (talk) 17:18, 24 May 2017 (UTC)

Hi Sathyan80. Apologies for not getting back to you sooner. I will email you a copy of the page. You can create a draft of the article and submit it for approval. However, I advise against just copying the old content as I think it is too promotional in nature. I suggest you find some reliable, second party sources and use the information in them to create the draft. If it is moved back to main space without addressing the issues raised in the deletion discussion, whether you agree with what was said or not, it will likely be deleted again. Also note that the sources you listed above are either primary or are just passing mentions and as such are not sufficient to prove notabiliy. You will need to find better ones. Hi Sarah -

I'm an art history student and I was surprised to see during my research on an artist who William J. Simmons has written about that Simmons's Wikipedia has been deleted. I reviewed the comments and thought that including this citation of a Ph.D. thesis that cites Simmons, among other documents, would be useful in establishing notability.

Lancaster, Lex, Casid, Jill H., Chavez, Karma, Kroiz, Lauren, McClure, Michael Jay, and Samuels, Ellen. Dragging Away: Queer Abstraction in Contemporary Art, 2017, ProQuest Dissertations and Theses.

He was moreover included in a recent "Insider Guide" to the Frieze Art Fair: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/frieze-new-york-2017-the-insider-guide_us_590b5710e4b046ea176ae8aa

Additionally, no one cited the e-flux journal article in which Simmons is cited: http://www.e-flux.com/journal/61/60987/the-sunshine-state/

I hope this helps.

Hi NYCart246. Being cited in an article is not enough on it's own to meet our notability guidelines, there needs to be multiple, independent, reliable sources which discus the subject in detail. I'm sorry, but I'm not seeing that here and the sources you have provided are not enough. Sarahj2107 (talk) 14:47, 2 July 2017 (UTC)

  • Did you know: On 29 June 2017, there were 1,261 administrators on the English Wikipedia – the exact number of administrators as there were ten years ago on 29 June 2007. Since that time, the English Wikipedia has grown from 1.85 million articles to over 5.43 million.

Please restore the Yahel Sherman article

Hi,

It has come to my attention that the article regarding DJ Yahel Sherman has been deleted, following this discussion (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Yahel_Sherman). It can be found in that page:

"I'm sympathetic to electronic indie type artists trying to break through, but notability just isn't well-established here."

This is wrong, but it's understandable if the author of this comment is not aware of the electronic music scene.

DJ Yahel Sherman IS very notable. He was position #28 in 2006's DJMag poll. His curation on Discogs (https://www.discogs.com/artist/13834-Yahel) has 54 releases, including some by very respectable labels such as Phonokol and Perfecto. Some 400 tracks on Beatport (https://www.beatport.com/artist/yahel/3459/tracks). He mixed the album Full On Fluoro (hosted by Paul Oakenfold) Vol. 2 in 2014, following Vol. 1 by Simon Patterson. He's had tracks played by Armin van Buuren at A State of Trance episodes 086 (back in 2003), 130, 185, 186, 382 (where his tune "Voyage" was "ASOT Radio Classic), 764, 765, 817 (just last month), and probably others that I don't know about. "Voyage" is also included in the album Magik Six: Live in Amsterdam by DJ Tiesto, released back in 2000. Tiesto played this track live at Sensation, Amsterdam Arena, The Netherlands in 2000, and at Dutch Dimensions, Amsterdam, The Netherlands, in 2002. Yahel plays live routinely. I can mention his live performance at Technostate, Stockholm, Sweden in 2016 and at Tomorrowland, Boom, Belgium in 2014. There's a page about him in the Tomorrowland's website (http://365.tomorrowland.com/category/yahel/274). It states: "After 12 years of producing 10 artist albums, 3 mixing CDs ,releasing dozens of vinyls, reaching to number 28 on DJMag competition,Yahel has established himself as one of the most popular and talented producers/Dj's to have come from the Israeli electronic scene. (...) He has found success with major labels like Sony/BMG. His music played by Tiesto, PVD, Armin Van Buuren, Ferry Corsten and recently discovered by the huge Dj Paul Oakenfold." His official Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/yahelsherman) has 153,369 likes as of today.

Hopefully his discography is enough to justify his recognition by this Encyclopedia. There is even a page about one of his albums (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Waves_of_Sound).

I do agree that the previous article had a bit more unreferenced text than ideal. Nowadays I think his article in German Wikipedia (https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yahel_Sherman) is probably a good model we can follow.

In all, I sincerely believe we can make a better judgment about this case, one that does justice to at least 153 thousand fans.

Appreciate your time,

Miscellaneous

  • Over the last few months, several users have reported backlogs that require administrator attention at WP:ANI, with the most common backlogs showing up on WP:SPI, WP:AIV and WP:RFPP. It is requested that all administrators take some time during this month to help clear backlogs wherever possible. It should be noted that AIV reports are not always valid; however, they still need to be cleared, which may include needing to remind users on what qualifies as vandalism.
