Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited 2020–21 FC Utrecht season, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Emmen. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Career stats tables

[edit]

Hi there. Thanks for updating Eric Oelschlägel. Please do not add totals for single seasons in career statistics tables. I've removed the incorrect totals at Eric Oelschlägel. Wikipedia:WikiProject Football/Players has the layout agreed upon by editors of Wikipedia:WikiProject Football. Kind regards, Robby.is.on (talk) 18:14, 28 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there. Thanks for passing on, I am fairly new so I didn't know this yet! Kind regards, SapCal9719 (talk) 12:57, 29 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Again, please have a look at Wikipedia:WikiProject Football/Players. The table layout you introduced at Leon Guwara had many issues, as did the order of sections. Robby.is.on (talk) 21:51, 19 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you again. I understand your point. I had used the same table layout as the one on the Dutch Wikipedia from Leon Guwara. I'll take it into account! SapCal9719 (talk) 19:33, 20 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Advice

[edit]

Hi. I'd like to make you aware of a few more points that might help avoid frustration on your part and on the part of other editors.

  • Your change at Leon Guwara was pretty huge. This made the changes hard to review and made it hard to revert the bad changes while holding on to the good ones. In my experience, keeping changes smaller makes collaboration with other editors much easier.
  • Footballer infoboxes count regular league appearances only – no appearances in domestic or international cups and no play-off matches.
  • Beware of WP:OVERLINKing. It says to not link "names of subjects with which most readers will be at least somewhat familiar" so we shouldn't link "Germany", "Netherlands", "German", "Dutch" etc.

Robby.is.on (talk) 22:06, 19 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I understand all these points of your advice. I didn't know about your 2nd and 3rd point, thanks for saying! SapCal9719 (talk) 17:38, 20 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
You're welcome. :-) Happy editing, Robby.is.on (talk) 19:47, 20 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

2021–22 FC Utrecht season

[edit]

Hi SapCal9719, thanks for your hard work in editing wikipedia. Could you please follow the wikifootball MOS when doing so though? Pre-season friendlies are not counted towards stats for goal scorers or attendance records so they do not need to be included in an infobox. Thanks. Rupert1904 (talk) 17:58, 4 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Rupert1904, no problem I like doing it. If there rules are written for of course I will follow it. I thought; maybe it is a nice addition for the info box. You're welcome. SapCal9719 (talk) 19:29, 4 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Jong Utrecht players who are also on the senior squad

[edit]

I don't think the removals are appropriate. Jong Utrecht is a team playing in the Eerste Divisie. This is their squad as listed on the official site of the Eerste Divisie: https://keukenkampioendivisie.nl/teams/jong-fc-utrecht/

All the players you removed are listed as players of Jong Utrecht there. If the league the team is competing in thinks the players are members of that team, they are members of that team, otherwise what is "the current squad" is supposed to even represent. There is no limitation saying that a player has to be listed only for one squad, especially when the second squad is competing separately in a separate professional league, like in this case. What is the harm exactly in listing them in two places?

Geregen2 (talk) 18:03, 4 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I think the removals are appropriate. That is indeed correct. I know about that official site.
It is indeed true that those players played for Jong FC Utrecht. What you mentioned here is all correct and I have no problem with that. But the page Jong FC Utrecht is about the selection in general. The players you added have played matches for the 2021-22 season. For this you have the page 2021–22 Jong FC Utrecht season. If you look here you will see that I have added the players there to the selection.

Information icon Please do not add or change content, as you did at 2022–23 FC Utrecht season, without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. As you've noted from my edit summaries, Transfermarkt is not considered a reliable source, since much of its content is user edited. Please do not restore the citations to it, and do not restore challenged material, unless you also add a reliable source to support the material question. Sir Sputnik (talk) 18:35, 10 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Warning icon Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to add unsourced or poorly sourced content, as you did at 2022–23 FC Utrecht season, you may be blocked from editing. Restoring material whose verifiability has been challenged without citing a reliable source is disruptive. Do that again and you may be blocked from editing. Sir Sputnik (talk) 16:56, 12 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, my thought was that it was possible so, because before I added the amounts and link that the came from the transfermarkt it was also so mention and not deleted, my apologies. Can it be mentioned if I add a link that points to the news item on the FC Utrecht site regarding the transfer (in Dutch)? In addition, the transfers from Jong FC Utrecht to FC Utrecht (or from FC Utrecht to Jong FC Utrecht, FC Utrecht 018 to Jong FC Utrecht) are internal transfers, so no link needs to be added, right or not? SapCal9719 (talk) 17:23, 12 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Yes that's fine. I have no issue with the content being there, so long as it's supported by reliable sources. For Jong Utrecht, you do still need to add sources. As it stands, the article has no sources to confirm that the transfers even happened, much less what the particularities are. Sir Sputnik (talk) 21:40, 12 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your reply. I just added the detail + reference on the page 2022–23 FC Utrecht season at Transfers. I'd love to hear if it's that good yes or no, thank you in advance. SapCal9719 (talk) 18:14, 15 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Ivar Jenner's nationality

[edit]

He is Indonesian according to what it says above the season squad, "Flags indicate national team as defined under FIFA eligibility rules. Players may hold more than one non-FIFA nationality." He plays for the Indonesia U20 teams and currently represents Indonesia under FIFA. Mwiqdoh (talk) 18:32, 31 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

First of all, sorry for the late answer. Jenner plays for the youth selection of Indonesia. He can still plays for The Netherlands. So he's nationality is The Netherlands. Only when Janner plays for for first selection and he can't play for The Netherlands Ivar can get the Indonesia flag. SapCal9719 (talk) 18:36, 21 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your contributions to 2024–25 Jong FC Utrecht season. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it has no sources. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.

Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. Waqar💬 19:31, 23 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I have put the "Submit your draft for review!" button for a review. In the next couple of days I will update the page further with more sources en I will make page complete (how far it can for now). Can you take a look to it? SapCal9719 (talk) 18:03, 3 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Removing small tags in infobox

[edit]

Hi, you reverted two edits I made here and here earlier this month. The reason for my edits was to comply with MOS:SMALLFONT, which states that the font size of any text in an article should not be below 85% of the page's default font size. In the case of 2024–25 FC Utrecht season and 2024–25 Jong FC Utrecht season the inclusion of <small>...</small> tags in {{Infobox football club season}} reduces the font size to 75% of the page's default, which is too small. —Bruce1eetalk 17:42, 25 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello. I have noticed that you often edit without using an edit summary. Please do your best to always fill in the summary field. This helps your fellow editors use their time more productively, rather than spending it unnecessarily scrutinizing and verifying your work. Even a short summary is better than no summary, and summaries are particularly important for large, complex, or potentially controversial edits. To help yourself remember, you may wish to check the "prompt me when entering a blank edit summary" box in your preferences. Thanks! —Bruce1eetalk 23:05, 27 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

You keep undoing my changes to 2024–25 FC Utrecht season and 2024–25 Jong FC Utrecht season without explaining why. That's what edit summaries are for, to explain why you made a change to an article. —Bruce1eetalk 23:06, 27 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

First of all sorry for that. In my opinion it is better to do that piece small in the infobox for better readability. I also had a look on another page and there it was done this way too. SapCal9719 (talk) 17:44, 28 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The small text in the infobox is too small and reduces accessibility (see MOS:SMALLFONT). Remember that the text size in infoboxes has already been reduced, so reducing it again makes it way too small. Other football pages that use <small>...</small> tags in the infobox need to have them removed to conform to MOS:SMALLFONT. —Bruce1eetalk 00:48, 29 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, but it is much better for the eye to see if that piece is smaller in the info box. The rest is just the 'normal' size. Otherwise you should also look at other pages and not just these 2... SapCal9719 (talk) 16:33, 29 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The infobox text size is not "normal", it's 88% of the default page text size (see the note in MOS:SMALLFONT). Using <small>...</small> tags in the infobox further reduces the text size to 75% of the default, which is below the 85% limit specified in MOS:SMALLFONT. I understand that you prefer the small text in the infobox, but MOS:SMALLFONT deems it too small. —Bruce1eetalk 17:26, 29 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
it is much better for the eye to see if that piece is smaller in the info box. Your eyesight must be pretty good. Very small sizes are bad for visually impaired users. Robby.is.on (talk) 18:28, 29 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I've removed the <small>...</small> tags from the infoboxes in all the "FC Utrecht season" articles that have them per MOS:SMALLFONT and the discussion above. Please don't put them back without discussing it here first. —Bruce1eetalk 09:12, 3 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Ok.. I find it much more confusing now in the infobox if I'm honest. The emphasis for the statistics should be on the numbers. What I put behind it in small is an addition to the numbers. Now there is emphasis on both and it will have to be only the numbers... and it can really just be seen well (for both web and mobile version) SapCal9719 (talk) 17:23, 3 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Not reducing the text size in the infobox is the norm, rather than the exception. If you look at the example in the infobox documentation, you'll see that fields like "highest attendance" don't reduce the size of the text. If you look at other articles that use this infobox, like 2002–03 Plymouth Argyle F.C. season and 1985–86 West Ham United F.C. season, they also don't use small text. —Bruce1eetalk 09:37, 4 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I understand that there are rules, but what I don't really understand is why this is suddenly such an issue... I've never heard or had any complaints about this before. And those examples of yours... that was sooooo long ago (2002–03 and 1985–86). Can nothing should be adjusted after such a long time?... because again, it looks much nicer and slicker to make that mini piece smaller. Check 2024–25 AFC Ajax season, 2023–24 AFC Ajax season and 2022–23 AFC Ajax season because it is also done there also... (and also other seasons ago). SapCal9719 (talk) 17:08, 4 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, I don't have anything more to add to this. I'd suggest you raise your concerns at Wikipedia talk:Manual of Style/Text formatting. —Bruce1eetalk 08:49, 5 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You say above that I should start a discussion about this here and then I do, you say that you have nothing more to say about it. So what's the point of starting a discussion about this? It now seems like the decision has already been made and nothing can change it... SapCal9719 (talk) 17:27, 5 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The reason I said I have nothing more to add to this discussion is because it's not going anywhere. That is why I suggested you take it to Wikipedia talk:Manual of Style/Text formatting, where a new set of eyes can look at it and comment. —Bruce1eetalk 08:55, 6 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
it looks much nicer and slicker to make that mini piece smaller. Individual aesthetic preferences do not trump accessibility concerns. Or in other words: Other people shouldn't have trouble reading text because you like smaller text. That's why we have MOS:SMALLFONT. If you disagree with that guideline, you can initiate discussion at Wikipedia talk:Manual of Style/Text formatting as Bruce1ee suggested. Check 2024–25 AFC Ajax season, 2023–24 AFC Ajax season and 2022–23 AFC Ajax season I've fixed those. Robby.is.on (talk) 13:02, 7 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
