Copying from one article to another
[edit]Hi, Sangheili spartan, I've removed your contributions to The finger for various reasons; first and foremost, because you seem to have copied the entire section from Aye-aye, without acknowledging your source in any way (you should have done so on the talk pages of either/both articles or in an edit summary). Secondly, because the topic of The finger is a human gesture, not mammalian middle fingers or beliefs pertaining to them. Folk beliefs regarding the middle finger of the Aye-aye therefore don't belong there. Thanks for reading this. Haploidavey (talk) 07:27, 31 January 2021 (UTC)
- Hi again. I see you've reverted the removal of your edit at The finger, and left a message on my talk page. I'm not sure what you mean by "Folk tale of aye aye middle finger were also originated from human" but it doesn't justify copying material as you did, or pasting the same in The finger article. Ok understand Sangheili spartan (talk) 07:34, 31 January 2021 (UTC)
I had to write without copy Sangheili spartan (talk) 07:36, 31 January 2021 (UTC)
- Thank you for your understanding. Yes, everything you write should be in your own words, and must be based on what's said by reliable sources; and these reliable sources should be indicated with an inline citation. It's not completely forbidden to copy text, but you must acknowledge your copying.
- And of course, you shouldn't be copying anything about the Aye-aye's middle finger into The finger, because it just doesn't belong there. Haploidavey (talk) 07:44, 31 January 2021 (UTC)
- I see you've reverted my removal of unacknowledged copying at The finger, without crediting in any way the authorship of material you copied and pasted. You risk being blocked. Please read Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia, WP:Edit summary, and WP:Edit war. Thanks Haploidavey (talk) 09:43, 31 January 2021 (UTC)
- I didn't just say it was too close to the original (which it still is, except that now it's also unsourced). I also didn't think (and still don't think) that it belongs in The finger. If you disagree, I suggest you put your case for including it at the article's talk-page.
Yes I disagree with some of your points Sangheili spartan (talk) 10:06, 31 January 2021 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of Buddhism in Tuva
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Buddhism in Tuva requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from Tuva#Religion_2. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. PamD 09:04, 31 January 2021 (UTC)
