Thank you for supporting my RfA
Hawkeye7 RfA Appreciation award | |
Thank you for participating in and supporting my RfA. It was very much appreciated. Hawkeye7 (talk) 22:20, 1 February 2016 (UTC) |
I noticed the Kikin Inc. article was deleted. I wasn't informed (no one left a message on my talk page), and given a chance to respond. Would you be able to restore the article to my user space? -- I will not move it back unless an admin agrees that it is encyclopedic and noteworthy. The article wad deleted on the very same day one comment supporting deletion was left on the AfD. I'm a little disappointed by the non-discussion this AfD had. Arjun G. Menon (talk · mail) 19:45, 4 February 2016 (UTC)
- Well, you were able to comment, given that you participated in the AfD, but anyway: restored at User:Arjun G. Menon/Kikin Inc.. Sandstein 20:43, 4 February 2016 (UTC)
I don't know how much attention you pay to drvs before they make it to the closing queue, but your close of this afd was listed. (Without any of the required notifications, which, of course, is why I'm here now.) —Cryptic 22:10, 10 February 2016 (UTC)

Redirect to section issue
I recently replied to a topic that you started that i didn't realize was archived when I replied. diff. To repeat it where it might do any good:
- It is likely that this is a javascript issue. Somewhere back in the mists of time T2218:Redirects do not support named anchors, redirects to sections were implemented as a javascript kludge so that the "redirected from x" message could appear at the top of the page. 24.151.10.165 (talk) 17:15, 12 February 2016 (UTC)
- Thank you! Sandstein 17:18, 12 February 2016 (UTC)
- I reverted 24.151.10.165's edit to Wikipedia:Village pump (technical)/Archive 142 because it's an archive, and states at the top "Please do not edit the contents of this page. If you wish to revive any of these discussions, either start a new thread or use the talk page associated with that topic." --Redrose64 (talk) 10:10, 13 February 2016 (UTC)
- Thanks, I wasn't sure whether to revert it or not. 24.151.10.165 (talk) 16:03, 13 February 2016 (UTC)

Page restore request
Hi could you please restore the inflatable icons page again. The page does include top tier academic references. Inflatable icons, as part of AgentCubes, are used by hundreds of thousands people all over the world. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dragentsheets (talk • contribs) 12:42, 15 February 2016 (UTC) Dragentsheets (talk) 12:43, 15 February 2016 (UTC)

- The article was deleted per a community discussion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Inflatable icons. Your arguments should have been made there. Also, how popular something is does not matter for inclusion in Wikipedia, but how much it has been covered in reliable sources, see WP:N. Request declined. Sandstein 14:10, 15 February 2016 (UTC)

I still think this page deletion was unjustified. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Shadowzgoth (talk • contribs) 14:29, 16 February 2016 (UTC)

Page userfication request
Hi, could you restore List of League of Legends champions to my userspace for me. Thanks a bunch.--Prisencolin (talk) 22:27, 13 February 2016 (UTC)
- No, I don't see how this could become encyclopedic content. It's just fancruft. Sandstein 08:54, 14 February 2016 (UTC)
- Give it some potential maybe? Give me a few weeks, and if the draft doesn't get passed through AFC by then feels free to delete it.--Prisencolin (talk) 22:46, 16 February 2016 (UTC)
- You've already made a request at Wikipedia:Requests for undeletion, which makes this request moot. Sandstein 12:23, 17 February 2016 (UTC)

Dasharath Giri
Hello sir im from Nepal and it is said that you have deleted this page. I think the references and sources which were provided in that article was in Nepali language so many of our friends didn't understood it. So i wanna create that page again within wikipedia guidelines and sir i'm new to wikipedia so i hope you will help me and grand me the permission. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dazwill (talk • contribs)
- There is no record of a former article at Dasharath Giri (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views). Sandstein 16:29, 17 February 2016 (UTC)
could you please explain...
Could you explain why, after your closure of Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Astrid Zachrison as redirect, you deleted the article, rather than simply redirect it?
I looked for sources, since nominator claimed there was just one. Doesn't deletion, instead of simple redirection, in a case like this, merely cause more work for interested contributors? What if someone finds new references, and wants to form an informed judgement as to whether they push the article into measuring up to our notability criteria? They can't do so by looking at an earlier revision. Geo Swan (talk) 15:42, 15 February 2016 (UTC)
- Because, in my view, consensus was for deletion. And we don't do "soft" deletion on Wikipedia, we just delete the page. The redirect is a separate action because it seems evident that there should be one to the appropriate list. Sandstein 16:51, 15 February 2016 (UTC)
- I'd like to look at the revision history. Do you have a suggestion as to how I can do so? Geo Swan (talk) 22:16, 15 February 2016 (UTC)
- It's at Special:Undelete/Astrid Zachrison. But you can only view that if you're an administrator or researcher. --Redrose64 (talk) 22:30, 15 February 2016 (UTC)
- That's true. Sandstein 05:52, 16 February 2016 (UTC)
- That advice doesn't help me. I am not an administrator. Geo Swan (talk) 15:45, 16 February 2016 (UTC)
- Then you can't view the history. Sandstein 16:39, 16 February 2016 (UTC)
- You wrote that "we don't do 'soft' deletion". Well, revision histories of some deleted articles do get restored. There are circumstances when some administrators simply redirect articles, and do not delete their revision histories, when they close AFD as delete. So, I think this as a decision that lies within an administrator's discretion. Geo Swan (talk) 18:25, 16 February 2016 (UTC)
- Perhaps, but I see no reason to undelete the history here - an individual editor's curiosity isn't enough for me to deviate from standard practice. That's all I'm going to say about this. Sandstein 19:20, 16 February 2016 (UTC)

- Sandstein, apart from the fact that the linked sources don't come anywhere near to establishing notability according to Wikipedia's notability guidelines, I think it's likely that the IP editor is evading blocks. The editor who uses the pseudonym "JamesBWatson" (talk) 13:41, 24 February 2016 (UTC)

Concerning the unorthodox procedure at the AfD
Hello, you mentioned something about further discussion needed about the revert&rename procedure at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Avoiding dangerous climate change. Where would the discussion be continued? I don't think the article's talk would be a good place because there it would get nowhere. I also honestly think there was a plain concensus for it after it was pointed out. --Mr. Magoo (talk) 19:57, 26 February 2016 (UTC)
- Perhaps an appropriate wikiproject or talk pages of potential merger targets would be good places for this discussion. Sandstein 09:42, 27 February 2016 (UTC)
Question about the ADCC article
Being unfamiliar with some WP policies or etiquette, I have a question about an edit I would like to make on the Avoiding dangerous climate change page. A final AfD decision was made on the article today. There is a tag at the top of the page, placed there on Feb. 20 by User:AnotherNewAccount, who at the time was involved in the AfD discussion. I see the tag as one person's opinion, and wish to remove it (with an edit note that there should be discussion on the Talk page). To be clear, this is NOT a complaint against that editor. I simply seek your counsel; is my proposed action reasonable in your view? Coastwise (talk) 22:52, 26 February 2016 (UTC)
- The AfD resulted in no consensus, so no decision was made. The AfD also wasn't about the tag. I personally have no opinion on the issue. Sandstein 09:43, 27 February 2016 (UTC)
