Blanking notice

[edit]

Please do not remove Articles for deletion notices from articles or remove other people's comments in Articles for deletion pages. The notices and comments are needed to establish community consensus about the status of an article, and removing them is considered vandalism. If you oppose the deletion of an article, you may comment at the respective page instead. Thank you. --Rory096 23:51, 29 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

If you remove the AfD header again, you will be blocked for vandalism. User:Zoe|(talk) 03:03, 30 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not blank your own talk page, either, to remove vandalism warnings. This is considered vandalism as well. Daniel Case 05:29, 30 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

WP Policy

[edit]

Hi Sam -- first of all, thanks for creating the Miss Universe 2004 page, in which you made a good start. However both in this page and others you have edited recently, I note that you appear to lack a basic information of wikipedia's policy. Furthermore, I would suggest that before creating or editing articles, you look at previous articles to check that your edits will adhere to the styles of the previous articles (e.g. Miss Universe 2006, Miss Universe 2005. As well, make sure your edits conform to an encyclopaedic tone, unlike your edit to Amanda Gilman. Finally, make sure you check the spelling of names etc, like the Megan Ellis article you created (whose name is correctly spelt Magen Ellis). Finally, blanking your talk page is considered a bad move and I will be watching to make sure this no longer happens. Other Wikipedians should be able to see all comments, the good and the bad. I'm sure if you just take a couple of minutes out to have a look at policy and at other articles, your contributions will improve substantially :) I note you are a member of our WikiProject Beauty Pageants so I might suggest the first place to look is some of the general tips we have established there. Good luck and happy editing! -- PageantUpdatertalk | contribs | esperanza 01:38, 30 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Pageant Almanac

[edit]

Hi Sam -- just a heads up that I got all my info from the Pagenat Almanac Website. Its full of stats, including the correct placements at Miss U (not exactly sure how they came by those but I assume its legitimate). Just one handy hint... when you leave a message on a talk page (including your own), you need to sign off with four tildes (eg. ~~~~). This will "stamp" your message with your name and the date so it's easy for people to reply to you. Happy editing! -- PageantUpdatertalk | contribs | esperanza 23:38, 30 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism

[edit]

Please post warnings on user talk pages, not on articles as you did with Ryan Seacrest. If a vandal continues to be a problem and vandalizes after receiving a final warning, report on the WP:AIV. Thank you. Michael 03:40, 27 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ina Lu

[edit]

Please do not redirect the Ina Lu article to Ina Lui. As it clearly shows in her official profile for the Miss Chinese International Pageant 2006 shown here, her last name is LU, not LUI. Please remember to source your information before making such a radical change on an article in the future. Thank you. smileydude66 04:32, 4 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry to disagree with you on this, but the information I go by is from the official source, TVB. They are the official organizers of the pageant and if they have the last name as LU on the official website, I feel that should be used on Wikipedia. And since you are quoting "misshkbeauties.com" as your source, please look back at the year 2005 for MCI. You will notice that Ina's last name is ALSO listed as LU, not LUI. As for the other sources, it may be that they are literally translating the names to cantonese pronounciations. Ina is of Mandarin descent, and LUI is the Cantonese version of the last name. smileydude66 04:14, 5 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

PS: Please remember to sign your name by placing four tildes "~" at the end of your message on talkpages. Thanks!

AfD nomination of Gabriel Garro

[edit]

An editor has nominated Gabriel Garro, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not"). Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Gabriel Garro and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. Blanking of your own talk page

[edit]

Please refrain from deleting comments made by other editors and administrators, both positive and constructive, from your talk page. This is known as blanking and is considered vandalism at Wikipedia. Further actions may get you blocked from editing Wikipedia. Just a head's up. All your previous deletions have now been reinstated on your talk page. Thanks for your attention. smileydude66 05:34, 24 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The Other Chinese Pageant Pages...

[edit]

Hey Sam,

I love how you've started the other pageant pages, but I haven't been editing them because I don't know a whole lot about those pageants... I'm from Canada and am more familiar with the Chinese Canadian pageants. But, if you need me to help you with anything to edit those pages that you've created, just let me know! I'd be glad to help! :) smileydude66 20:36, 9 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

PS: I'll do some research and see if I can come up with some new information for those pages though. I'll do what I can, Sam! Continue with the good work!

It's good to have an editor with a particular interest in Chinese beauty pageants. As you probably know, there are Chinese beauty pageants literally all over the world, and several in the US and Canada alone. Hopefully you'll get around to creating some more articles for these pageants, and don't forget to categorise them into Category:Chinese beauty pageants or one of its sub-categories. June 2007

[edit]

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that recently you carried out a copy and paste page move from Tracy Ip Chui Chui. Please do not move articles by copying and pasting them because it splits the article's history, which is needed for attribution and is helpful in many other ways. If there is an article that you cannot move yourself using the move link at the top of the page, follow the instructions at Wikipedia:Requested moves. Also, if there are any other articles that you copied and pasted, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut and paste move repair holding pen. Thank you. After Midnight 0001 03:18, 28 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The issue is not that object to where the article is located. The issue is that text should never be copied and pasted because it destroys the history. Please follow the process at the link that I provided above for requested moves and for the cut and paste repair pen. That will allow the history to be moved properly and protect the GFDL. --After Midnight 0001 15:56, 29 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Teen USA 2007

[edit]

Good job with the article! I've just made some minor tweaks and changes to make sure the article complies with Wikipedia's policies, but on the whole you did an awesome job. Please don't add your website to the list, I have already had to remove Pageant Almanac and other links (including your own) don't qualify under Wikipedia's external links policy. Furthermore, what you are suggesting goes against the fact that Wikipedian's can't claim "ownership" of a particular article or section. PageantUpdater 22:04, 29 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Why delete Sophie Vouzelaud's picture?

[edit]

OrphanBot, please upload the photo of Vouzelaud back. There is no need to remove the photo.

Sam72991 02:42, 12 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

What image are you referring to? OrphanBot removes several hundred images each day. --Carnildo 18:53, 12

July 2007 (UTC)

Carnildo, I am taking about Miss France World, Sophie Vouzelaud's photo. Orphanbot removed the photo of her even though it did have many sources. Example: http://www.globalbeauties.com/news/2007/june/fra.htm or http://missfrance.tf1.fr/. I DID NOT know why OrphanBot removes the pic for no reason. He really likes to destroy the editors pages.

If you're referring to Image:Sophie vouzelaud reine des coeurs2.jpg, it was deleted because there was no information about its copyright status. --Carnildo 19:41, 14 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Carnildo, but the picture has many links. Carnildo, could you upload it again? There are many links to a new image of Sophie Vouzelaud.

Sam72991 19:26, 18 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

What's the copyright status of the image? --Carnildo 22:35, 18 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Here's the links: http://www.globalbeauties.com/news/2007/june/fra.htm or http://missfrance.tf1.fr/

Sam72991 22:38, 18 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Doesn't look like the image is suitable for Wikipedia, then. The website says "Copyrighted, all rights reserved". --Carnildo 23:26, 18 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

That's okay then.

Speedy deletion of Benjamin Yuen

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Benjamin Yuen, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia per CSD a7.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as an appropriate article, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is appropriate, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the article and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag) and leave a note on the page's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. Hersfold (t/a/c) 03:20, 13 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Do you have a citation that doesn't come from Wikipedia that confirms that she is class of 2004 from Bronx Science? I thought I saw one a few weeks ago but can't find it now. Thanks - she's been removed from the list of notable alumni until we can confirm this with a third party reliable source. Tvoz |talk 23:06, 8 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please participate

[edit]

There is a heavy discussion right now, in this article, Miss Pakistan World here and it was nominated for deletion here; your opinion will be highly appreciated, especially your vote. Your participation in this matter is noteworthy, in view of the fact that you are a member of the Wiki Project Beauty Pageants. It doesn’t matter if your vote is favorable or not, but what matters most is your involvement since it seems to me that some commenter are against pageantry. Personally, I think that the article should be kept but should be freed from tremendous advertisement lines.--Richie Campbell (talk) 00:20, 16 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This is the last warning you will receive for your disruptive edits. The next time you insert a spam link, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Persistent spammers may have their websites blacklisted preventing anyone from linking to them from all Wikimedia sites as well as potentially being penalized by search engines. Angelo De La Paz (talk) 07:00, 18 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

In response to why I have deleted a chunk of the information from the page is becuase of two reasons:

1) There are no sources to where each fact is gotten from. Although I believe what is written in the article is true, because there are no reliable sources, it must be removed as per Wikipedia:Citing sources. And the "websites" that you claim where these statements come from, they are all pageant fansites, not official sources and therefore cannot be used as references. Please read Wikipedia:External links for more details.

2) A good part of what I have deleted is a timeline to the pageant. Wikipedia does not act as a news source, but rather a reference tool for historical events. When a contestant went to a press conference and visited Ocean Park and had a cable car ride is not relevant to the actual event that took place. Please read Wikipedia:NOT#NEWS for more details.

Hope this helps as to why I've changed the article. ( I am slowly formatting all the Miss Chinese International Pageant pages... 2008 is my next task. Such tiring work!!! Haha... ) Continue your good work with the articles. Just remember to cite your official sources! :) smileydude66 (talk) 04:15, 15 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hmm... I've tried to search for some Miss Chinese International Pageants online and there are a few that are available to watch through sites like Tudou.com or ku6.com etc... You should be able to find them if you type "國際華裔小姐競選" in the search line with video.google.com I've been able to find 1988, 1997, 2000, 2001 (partly), 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008 this way. You're also able to see crowning moments of recent pageants through the official website at tvb.com Hope this helps! smileydude66 (talk) 09:49, 17 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Unreferenced BLPs

Hello, Sam72991

Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username Owain.davies, and I thank you for your contributions.

I wanted to let you know, however, that I’ve proposed an article that you started, Tracy Ip, for deletion because it's a biography of a living person that lacks references. To prevent the deletion, please add a reference to the article. You may remove the deletion tag yourself once the article has at least one reliable source.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Owain.davies}}. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!
