Hiya. I was looking at the above article you created recently, and I'm not sure how useful it is. There are already a few other lists of failure around, notably: List of structural failures and collapses, List of bridge failures, List of road accidents, List of rail accidents (2000–present), List of rail accidents (1950–1999), List of rail accidents (pre-1950), List of accidents and disasters by death toll, List of accidents and incidents involving commercial aircraft (and lots more about aircraft). Where do you see this article fitting in with the others and what 'gap' is it filling that isn't currently served? Cheers. Quantpole (talk) 20:29, 24 June 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for the comment. The article came about when I was researching infrastructure failures in the U.S., and could find no central source or meta-list by category. So I created the article in hopes of combining the categories that you mention, and probably others, falling under the "infrastructure" umbrella. I agree that it would be redundant to list the sub-category items again, so perhaps this entry takes the form of a list of lists. As a user, I could not have found all of the relevant entries that you point out. "Structural failures and collapses" might adequately cover bridges, buildings, and other, but excludes rail failures, and both lists exclude failures of equipment at nuclear-power facilities, for example. It's all infrastructure. In the same way that the existence of Wikipedia articles on Brazil, Argentina, Peru (etc.), does not argue against an entry on "South America," sub-categories of rail, road, and bridge failures (etc.), seem to argue for rather than against an entry for the main category.Salon Essahj (talk) 16:21, 28 June 2009 (UTC)
