- Hello, I have added my information with the source backed up. I believe that Nader was a Shia, which even if people don't agree should be debated in the talks section instead of being added. Thank you Salman Cooper Mapping (talk) 13:09, 7 October 2023 (UTC)
- What you or I believe is irrelevant, but WP:RS does indeed seem to state that the Jafar jurisprudence proposed by Nader Shah was Shia. Personally, though, it seems he was mostly irreligious; "Nader, raised as a Shi‛a and now to all appearances a convert to Sunnism, had little attachment to the precepts of either sect.71 Some have speculated that he had little real religious faith at all, despite his pragmatic use of religious formulae in his public utterances. The French Jesuit who later became his personal physician said it was difficult to know what religion he followed, and that many who knew him best said he had none.72 Russian diplomats must have reported something similar, because when speaking of the notorious atheism of Nader’s Prussian contemporary Frederick the Great, the Empress Elizabeth apparently once said, ‘He ridicules holy things; he never goes to church; he is the Nader Shah of Prussia" - p. 168, Axworthy, Michael (24 March 2010). - True, however he still adhered to some form of Shia Islam (he did break some rules such as drinking alcohol). He even tried to negotiate with the Ottomans to recognize the Shi'ites as a 5th school of Sunni Islam, just like the Hanbali,Hanafi etc. Nicolae Jorga: Geschichte des Osmannischen Reiches, vol IV(trans: Nilüfer Epçeli) Yeditepe Yayınları, 2009, ISBN 978-975-6480-19-9, p. 371 Salman Cooper Mapping (talk) 15:56, 7 October 2023 (UTC)
- I suggest that we keep the article locked in order to prevent vandalism. We can keep his religion as Twelver Shi'ism until a consensus is established about his religion (proved by more valid sources) Salman Cooper Mapping (talk) 15:58, 7 October 2023 (UTC)
