Hi there, I may be misunderstanding but I think I have been blocked from editing Wikipedia? Is this in connection with edits I made for my employer NHS Digital? I thought we'd followed correct procedures by proposing and then waiting before making changes? It would be great to please get some guidance on how to precede? There are actually some other inaccuracies we'd like to put right on the entry too if possible. Thanks
Welcome!
[edit]Hello, Sallybrownsjb, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.
I noticed that one of the first articles you edited was NHS Digital, which appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.
To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or another editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.
One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)
In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}}

NHS Digital
[edit](moved from my talk page, as I prefer it to be noted at the COI editors page, so moved here Widefox; talk 08:40, 15 May 2017 (UTC)) Hi Widefox, I see you commented on the NHS Digital page proposals recently - which is fine and it makes sense to have one page rather than several :). However, did you also see my query about how to go about changing more content on the page to improve it's accuracy? I work for the organization and when I made one change recently got banned. Can you please advise or let me know someone I can raise this with? Many thanks sallybrownsjb Sallybrownsjb (talk) 07:51, 15 May 2017 (UTC)
- See the top of my talk page. I'll give you some links on your talk page. Discussions about articles are best on their talk page. Widefox; talk 07:56, 15 May 2017 (UTC)
- Apologies. Just seen your reply to this. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sallybrownsjb (talk • contribs) 08:05, 15 May 2017 (UTC)
- Firstly, is this part of you job to edit here? Have you read the guideline WP:COI and disclosed (there's a template which is the best practice I believe, but following through the COI disclosure should be the way). If you are paid to edit here, also see WP:PAID
- Nope, you're not blocked (or banned), and the article is not locked so you should be able to edit it. What makes you think you are blocked? If you are blocked (or the IP you are editing from), then you won't be able to edit any article. For help on that, see something like WP:BLOCKED or ask an admin. As you have a COI, you are allowed to directly edit the article, but it is far preferable to use the talk page with a COI edit request (sorry, again follow the links on how to do that, but I think you've created at least one on the talk already)
- To contact others, such as User:DinosaursLoveExistence you can just write on their talk or do what I just did and link to their username which WP:PINGs them, and they may join the discussion here. DinosaursLoveExistence is not an admin (neither am I), so we cannot block (or ban you).
- When commenting on talk pages, add new messages at the end, and don't forget to sign them
- OK, with those out the way, as for the content issue of the article, read and follow the COI edit request and other editors should come along and help. I believe it talks about being specific with the requests, currently I don't know what you are proposing changing, so cannot even comment. Your only edit is [1] which doesn't include a reference for the content you added. Such a claim (250 etc) does need a reference in my opinion. If it is just minor edits like adding internal links, or correcting factually incorrect things then they should be uncontroversial and may be done directly (COI guideline must have some help on that), but, be aware that you should use edit summaries and for anything more substantial best use the COI edit request. Now, you're also a new editor, and an WP:SPA. I highly recommend getting some experience away from your COI topic. Widefox; talk 08:40, 15 May 2017 (UTC)
