rosters

[edit]

you're the best :-D--Львівське (talk) 01:30, 8 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

just a note, since i seen you've done a lot of edits to the rosters lately, but the standard format for birthplace is ((City|City, Country)) all in one link, not split up as you've been changing them to.--Львівське (talk) 08:05, 12 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

no worries, I'm the only person in the world to notice such a trivial thing :-p --Львівське (talk) 08:19, 12 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Atlant Mytishchi

[edit]

"Atlant Mytishchi" doesn't exist. Well, no more than the Kanata Senators or Glendale Coyotes. --Львівське (talk) 06:33, 6 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

That's what I figured, but wasn't entirely sure (saint0wen (talk) 09:43, 6 November 2009 (UTC))[reply]

Source for Ruslan Salei's death?

[edit]

Per your edit comment here, do you have a verifiable source you can include in the article which confirms Ruslan Salei's death onboard the crashed plane? The four sources currently given confirm that the plane crashed carrying team-members, and that Salei was a member of the team, but not that he was specifically onboard. --PeruvianLlama(spit) 16:54, 7 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Dmitry Chesnokov said SovSport confirmed, but then that statement was retracted. Salei's whereabouts are now unknown. (saint0wen (talk) 16:56, 7 September 2011 (UTC))[reply]
Okay, I see the report of his death has been removed by someone else as well. Thanks for the quick response! --PeruvianLlama(spit) 17:01, 7 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I can not find any source to verify your preferred spelling for this hockey player's name. Wikipedia must rely upon verifiable sources and the policy of WP:COMMONNAME. If you are using original research for your translations of the players names, please stop. Wikipedia:If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Dolovis (talk) 03:05, 29 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

As I posted when the page was moved, it fits commonality of others who have an have "shch" in their names (i.E.: Polishchuk, Troshchinskiy, Grebenshchikov, etc.) as shown in various IIHF tournaments and says Shchitov on the back of his KHL jersey. If you still don't believe it, look at the video evidence in the KHL.ru game highlights.
"If you are using original research for your translations of the players names, please stop." You're really going to question MY research on the KHL, considering that I'm the one that made the roster template for every KHL club in the first place and am the one who maintains them? (Saint0wen (talk) 02:42, 30 September 2011 (UTC))[reply]
You are to be commended for you diligent work in maintaining the KHL rosters. The matter of your moving articles to unverified name variants is, however, a separate issue. Unless you are able to provide verifiable sources, it must be assumed that you are making the name changes based on original research; and as such, your edits it that regard will continue to be questioned. Please provide verifiable sources for your name changes. Dolovis (talk) 18:04, 30 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I shouldn't have to provide you with any more evidence than this. While I will say that not all name variants are accurate when it comes to the KHL (Fyodorov instead of Fedorov, for instance), changing of this name on the Wiki fits the standard -- which has always been interpreted by their North American club or IIHF tournament spelling. As I've already said, in addition to the links provided, this "variant" matches several players who have played in IIHF tournaments as big as the Olympics. I've already provided you "verifiable sources" twice, both in written and visual form. If you don't agree, then do your own research to prove otherwise. Hey, I urge you to see the discussion here and most importantly here. Please firstly read the discussion and then you have two options, whether to continue the discussion as a new discussion (since this is an archive) or to revert your edits, otherwise I will do that in a couple of days. H2ppyme (talk) 06:57, 4 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

As long as this is merely a change for Estonia and Estonia, only, then I don't take much issue with that because the first discussion link you provided actually backs up your claim pretty well. Be aware, of course, that other editors are likely going to question this, as it really is still a matter of one person's view vs. another's on whether it is recognized independently or not post-WWII. However, if you're saying that this should be an around-the-board change for all of the Soviet republics, then I have a big issue with that. (saint0wen (talk) 09:15, 4 February 2012 (UTC))[reply]
It definitely does not mean every SSR, only the Baltic states.
A distant argument could be made though as wouldn't you say that a person born in Odessa in 1975 was still born in the geographical Ukraine, as a distinct historical region with relatively defined borders always existed, despite being part of the USSR. But I'm not about to go into that. H2ppyme (talk) 19:15, 4 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
LOL yeah some Ukrainian and Austrian history really gets confusing.(saint0wen (talk) 18:33, 5 February 2012 (UTC))[reply]

Hi saint0wen. You may be interested in the discussion at Talk:HC Sibir Novosibirsk#Requested move concerning the article title. Thanks in advance, HeyMid (contribs) 16:20, 26 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Training camp rosters

[edit]

We don't usually update NHL rosters for training camp. During a normal year, that could mean adding more than a dozen names to the list that will only be there for a few days. FlameMoth (talk) 00:20, 14 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Nooo, but in camps, typically a rough concept of what the roster will look like is presented. Considering most teams are carrying about 25-27 players right now, it's not like 30 guys are being added to each template. (Which is exactly why I removed about 20 pointless players from the Oilers roster.) I know what I'm doing. saint0wen (talk) 00:27, 14 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
And we usually keep those players who are on two-way contracts that are assigned to the minors on the rosters but hidden. Raul17 (talk) 03:59, 14 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Which one of the players that I activated are currently in the minors? NONE. I'm not some johnny-come-lately. I've been doing this for years. Look at my user history. Go play police with people that are actually screwing with the templates (i.E. The vandal that put Claude Giroux as a Boston Bruin -- funny that you didn't seem to notice that one eh?) and let actual roster historians do their job. saint0wen (talk) 05:24, 14 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Templates

[edit]

Nice that you claim to solve numerous mistakes, but can you please take a look at Wikipedia:Piped link? Because now I am correcting (a part of) your incorrect links. (Limited to those that you have created to link to a disambiguation page.) The Banner talk 22:54, 14 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

In regards to what? You didn't even list what page you're referring to. Either way, I'm assuming it's some player's hometown that needed to a DAB. Thanks for fixing the mistake. (saint0wen (talk) 00:28, 15 November 2014 (UTC))[reply]
Oh so you were talking about the incorrect link YOU piped to Schongau, Germany on Template:Kölner Haie roster that doesn't even exist? LOL! Good one pal. (saint0wen (talk) 08:35, 2 December 2014 (UTC))[reply]
