Translation question
[edit]We have an article on the Japanese Aero Engines Corporation (JAEC), with a plural "Engines" in the title. Howerver, the IAE website list it as "Japanese Aero Engine Corporation", with a singular "Engine". Unfortunately, the JAEC website is in Japanese only. Do you know which is correct? Thanks. - BilCat (talk) 11:17, 27 January 2011 (UTC)
- Because the competent governmental authority (主務官庁) said Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (経済産業省), I searched the prefecture ministry, but there was not the hit of the English name. The plural form of the noun is not important in the Japanese. And "エンジン" is "engine". However, they say that it is "engines". --Sabuell (talk) 05:46, 28 January 2011 (UTC)
- Who is the "they" in "they say that it is 'engines'."? My printed source, World Encyclopedia of Aero Engines, 5th Edition by Bill Gunston, and FlightGlobal both use the singular form. Since that is how it appears in English sources, I'm inclined to move the page to Japanese Aero Engine Corporation so our reader will find the company at the name they expect. - BilCat (talk) 06:53, 28 January 2011 (UTC)
- Why is there much notation of the singular form? I do not understand the reason. Since BilCat has the source of information, I think that the movement does not have any problem. --Sabuell (talk) 14:25, 28 January 2011 (UTC)
Nice KC-767 photo
[edit]ja:ファイル:KC-767J.jpg is a nice aerial photo, but it's not on Commons, as far as I can tell. Can you look at the file page, and see if you can tell if it can be moved to Commons? Thanks. - BilCat (talk) 15:35, 25 February 2011 (UTC)
- I done. notified to pertinent user. see commons:File:The KC-767J of 404th Squadron.jpg.--Sabuell (talk) 18:16, 25 February 2011 (UTC)

Kawasaki OH-1 Ninja?
[edit]Is "Ninja" an official name for the Kawasaki OH-1? If so, a good source, even if it's in Japanese, would be useful, and I could then move the article to Kawasaki OH-1 Ninja. Thanks. - BilCat (talk) 20:22, 24 March 2011 (UTC)
- The Japanese warplane is named by Defense Ministry. According to the document (sample), it was written as an Observation helicopter (OH-1) (観測ヘリコプター (OH-1)). However, in another page, Ninja (ニンジャ) is written as a popular name (nickname). Both are sites of the Defense Ministry, but Im hard to regard Ninja as the official name. Because it is only observation helicopter and OH-1 to be common in the page of a budget demand and the equipment introduction.--Sabuell (talk) 06:48, 25 March 2011 (UTC)
