USNA Reliable Source Citation

[edit]

Information icon Please do not add or change content, as you did at United States Naval Academy, without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. - theWOLFchild 01:49, 1 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

From SPN Lifer: Citation added shortly thereafter -- additional material from previously cited source. — Preceding unsigned comment added by SPN Lifer (talkcontribs) 02:01, 23 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Please add refs at the same time as adding content. If using refs already in the article, please clarify that with your edit summary. Thank you. - theWOLFchild 14:09, 23 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Citation Required for Alumni Status

[edit]

Please stop continuing to remove maintenance templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Dowling Catholic High School ‎, without resolving the problem that the template refers to. This may be considered disruptive editing. Further edits of this type may result in your account being blocked from editing. Not only is there no citation in his linked article as you claimed, there isn't even a mention of the school. Meters (talk) 04:30, 23 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

From SPN Lifer: Actually, the linked article has multiple citations of his role in the formation and history of the band. You are correct, it did not mention his alumni status.
Moreover, I did clearly explain the rationale for the edit. So even if incorrect, with respect to one component of the citation I had not considered, it was easily reverted and hardly "disruptive". — Preceding unsigned comment added by SPN Lifer (talkcontribs) 01:58, 23 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
There is no need to provide a citation for notability for an alumnus with a linked wikiarticle. There's also no need to provide a citation for the fact that he is in the band (both his article and the linked band articles confirm that, So, the only possible reason for the citation request was for his attendance at the school. Your edit and summary seemed to me to be an intentional attempt to deceptively remove a maintenance tag, with a bogus summary. That's why a warned you. You're allowed to remove the warning if you wish. Meters (talk) 16:43, 23 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Signing Talk Page Posts

[edit]

Information icon Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment, or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

Thank you. - theWOLFchild 13:59, 23 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. The foregoing have been my first comments on a talk page, my own. SPN Lifer (talk) 22:39, 23 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
NP. Also take a look at WP:INDENT. FYI - theWOLFchild 02:42, 24 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Inclusion of Class Year in Notable Alumni Lists

[edit]

Stop icon You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you violate Wikipedia's no original research policy by inserting unpublished information or your personal analysis into an article, as you did at Marin Catholic High School. Please see my lengthy edit summary for further details. John from Idegon (talk) 01:28, 24 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I have initiated a discussion of the Notable Alumni graduation year issue and the WP:CALC issue in the MCHS talk page. Thank you.

Inclusion of “Sunday” before Date in Super Bowl Pages

[edit]

Do no re-add the day of the week to Super Bowl pages since all of them are played on Sunday. In addition, it is already stated in the main page that Super Bowl is played on Sunday and we do not need to repeat it in every page regarding the event. If some future Super Bowl would be played on some other day than Sunday then it would be noted. – Sabbatino (talk) 17:38, 5 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Just want to remind you that you are not allowed to change other user's messages (headings included) on your own (or other user's) talk page per WP:TPO. – Sabbatino (talk) 19:34, 5 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Section headings: Because threads are shared by multiple editors (regardless how many have posted so far), no one, including the original poster, "owns" a talk page discussion or its heading. It is generally acceptable to change headings when a better heading is appropriate, e.g., one more descriptive of the content of the discussion or the issue discussed, less one-sided, more appropriate for accessibility reasons, etc. To avoid disputes, it is best to discuss a heading change with the editor who started the thread, if possible, when a change is likely to be controversial.
— WP:TPO

Sorry, I did not consider that adding the initial six words to make the foregoing heading within my talk page more descriptive could be “controversial”.  SPN Lifer (talk) 20:11, 5 July 2018 (UTC) SPN Lifer (talk) 20:13, 5 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • @SPN Lifer - It's not.
  • @Sabbatino - "Just want to remind you that you are not allowed to change other user's messages (headings included)" [bolding mine] - Where in TPO does it says that about section headings? Also, the quote above seems to contradict that. The change SPN Lifer made wasn't controversial so there is no need for this additional scolding. IMHO - theWOLFchild 21:45, 5 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have shown interest in post-1992 politics of the United States and closely related people. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect. Any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.

To opt out of receiving messages like this one, place {{Ds/aware}} on your user talk page and specify in the template the topic areas that you would like to opt out of alerts about. For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.
