- Since you don't appear to have seen this near to the time I left it, it might be a little cryptic without explanation. Masako Katsura was today's featured article on January 31, 2011.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 20:26, 1 February 2011 (UTC)
- Supah-dupah! That kicks. WP:CUE's (and your?) first TFA, yes?! And yeah I have been away a lot lately. Long story. — SMcCandlish Talk⇒ ʕ(Õلō)ˀ Contribs. 01:22, 18 February 2011 (UTC)
- Indeed, my first, though I have another in the works (not billiards related). I think François Mingaud could be a candidate in the near future. I really wanted to work it up to near FA level before posting it but another user created it recently, not realizing my draft existed, and once they did realize, copied some of my content without proper copyright attribution and posted to DYK. I have done a history merge though the newer, far less developed content is what's seen in the article now. I'm going to merge the old with the new soon. Glad to see your back.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 16:15, 20 February 2011 (UTC)
- My front and sides are visible too. ;-) Anyway, glad you beat me to Mingaud. I'd been thinking of doing that one myself, but it seemed a bit daunting. I may have some tidbits for it. Lemme know when your merged version goes up, and I'll see what I have that might not already be in there. Probably not earthshaking, just a few things I found in 1800s-1910s books. — SMcCandlish Talk⇒ ʕ(Õلō)ˀ Contribs. 16:21, 23 February 2011 (UTC)

---|
WikiProject Good Articles will be running a GAN backlog elimination drive for the entire month of March. The goal of this drive is to bring the number of outstanding Good Article nominations down to below 50. This will help editors in restoring confidence to the GAN process as well as actively improving, polishing, and rewarding good content. If you are interested in participating in the drive, please place your name here. Awards will be given out to those who review certain numbers of GANs as well as to those who review the most. On behalf of my co-coordinator Wizardman, we hope we can see you in March. MuZemike |

2011 World 8-Ball Championship
Can you provide the correct article name? I'm planning on maintaining one for the 2011 tourney. –HTD (ITN: Where no updates but is stickied happens.) 19:23, 22 February 2011 (UTC)
- The official site uses "WPA World 8-Ball Championship", "World 8 Ball Pool Championship" (addl. word, no hyphen), "World 8 Ball Championship" (no hyphen), etc., etc., and the year is put both before and after it in different examples of usage on the same page. I would put our article at 2011 WPA World Eight-ball Championship (for reasons best explained at WP:CUESPELL), with redirects from 2011 WPA World 8-ball Championship, 2011 WPA World 8-Ball Championship, 2011 WPA World 8 Ball Championship, as well as WPA World Eight-ball Championship 2011, WPA World 8-ball Championship 2011, WPA World 8-Ball Championship 2011, and WPA World 8 Ball Championship 2011. The same redirs, without the date, should exist for the WPA World Eight-ball Championship article. And versions with "Championships" (plural) should exist for the main article and the by-year articles. I'd avoid any use of "Eight-ball Pool" (or variants thereof like "8 Ball Pool", etc), since that is actually a different game (the yellows-and-reds version, a.k.a. Blackball, with its own governing bodies). The phrase "(advertised as the Etisalat World 8 Ball Pool Championship 2011 for sponsorship purposes)" should probably appear in the lead. A pile of redirects could be created for that, too, but I'm not sure I'd bother. Fujaira World Eight-ball Championship and spelling variants should redir to WPA World Eight-ball Championship, since I'm pretty sure the event's been held there more than once. If you're bored you could link things like 2011 Fujaira World Eight-ball Championship and variants to the new article as well, but that might be overkill. Redirects don't hurt anything and can help people find stuff, but they can be a bit time-consuming to create. The official site is http://www.world8ballchampionship.com/. - I just created it at 2011 WPA World 8-Ball Championship a while ago, but I do agree that "2011 WPA World Eight-ball Championship is a better name, and I redirected a couple of probable names already. As per cue sports project OK I'll sign up. Thanks for the suggestions! –HTD (ITN: Where no updates but is stickied happens.) 16:20, 23 February 2011 (UTC)
