my story today |
On today's Main page, you can find a cantata that Bach first performed 300 years ago, and an iconic saxophonist from East Germany. Also: a bit about the history of QAI on my talk. Thank you for being part of it! - A new member designed a user box that I adopted. -- Gerda Arendt (talk) 17:00, 18 July 2023 (UTC)

Notice of Arbitration Enforcement noticeboard discussion
Hello. This message is being sent to inform you that there is currently a report involving you at Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Enforcement regarding a possible violation of an Arbitration Committee decision. The thread is SMcCandlish. Thank you. -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (she|they|xe) 21:46, 22 July 2023 (UTC)
- I think administrators should identify themselves as such when making a request/instruction in their administrator capacity to avoid issues. Besides, technically, it was a question, not an instruction. Sincerely, Thinker78 (talk) 00:04, 23 July 2023 (UTC)
- I know who Tamzin is. Our heads butt frequently over proposals to change parts of MoS; Tamzin is by no means a random uninvolved admin when it comes to going after me, most especially in an MoS-related discussion (and I was half-way expecting an attempt like this to "silence an opponent"). What I would really expect more out of an admin, though, is an understanding of sanction applicability and appropriate venue, but whatever. For the record, had theMainLogan, the actual party in question, contacted me directly with an objection, I would have retracted the joke I made, on the spot. I just don't respond well to censorious, drive-by busy-bodying by editors who seem to be "cancel culture" aficionados. I'll repeat that Tamzin needs to find something better to do than thought-policing their fellow editors. — SMcCandlish ☏ ¢ 😼 01:29, 23 July 2023 (UTC)
- I remember having a dispute with an administrator about an edit and then I was denied a permission by another administrator balking about my dispute with the former. It was a case of how dare I contradict an administrator. I was like, really? It was a perplexing and frustrating episode, so I know what you are talking about. Regards, Thinker78 (talk) 04:52, 23 July 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks, and I think I'm just going to archive this along with the rest of the archiving I'm doing. I don't need a bunch of silly negative drama on my talk page. I do this hobby because I enjoy it, not because I seek irritation. :-) — SMcCandlish ☏ ¢ 😼 05:12, 23 July 2023 (UTC)

Nooooooo!
The ungodly mess that was your sprawling talk page is no more! What endless tome will I have now to scroll through while checking my watchlist on my phone now? VanIsaac, GHTV contWpWS 05:54, 23 July 2023 (UTC)

Request for input about map
Hello SMcCandlish. If you have the time or desire it would be great if you provide your insights in the discussion, Talk:France#Removal of map. I am just seeking guidance, as the editor who removed the map was not clear and only one other editor has commented. Keeping or removing the map is fine. Regards, Thinker78 (talk) 23:02, 23 July 2023 (UTC)
Follow up
Hello SMcCandlish. The discussion has been practically replicated in Talk:Russia#Removal of maps. If you still are interested in the topic of maps in infoboxes, your input is appreciated. It may be headed to a project-wide RfC. Regards, --Thinker78 (talk) 03:00, 29 July 2023 (UTC)
