CKY

[edit]

Hi Ryan. I appreciate CKY have releases planned for the future, but wikipedia is not a crystal ball. In the meantime it is probably inappropriate to create articles about unreleased material unless there is evidence from a reliable source proving the material has gained notability. Otherwise it's better to wait until they come out. Future intentions can be mentioned adequately on the band page. Cheers, Deizio talk 13:28, 22 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

OiL

[edit]

A tag has been placed on OiL, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable, that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert notability may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is notable, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page (below the existing db tag) and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Realkyhick 08:42, 26 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

CKY

[edit]

Would be great to see you over at the CKY Wikiproject. Deiz talk 07:42, 7 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Just follow the link above and add your name to the list of participants, also make sure it's on your watchlist. Don't worry if you're a little inexperienced, we've got some great people looking at CKY stuff and can help you with what is and isn't appropriate. It's crucial that new information is sourced, ie linked to independent sources that verify its truthfulness and importance. Cheers, Deiz talk 05:37, 11 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Edits

[edit]

I'm going to take your edits in good faith. However, previous events have seen deletion of various items which you have revisited tonight, and they have been deleted and reverted accordingly. Please discuss any such future edits on talkpages before devoting any time to them. Thanks, Deiz talk 16:21, 24 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Block

[edit]

Hi Ryan, sorry but I've had to place a short block on your account to give you a chance to read up on WP policies before creating or editing any more articles. In short, creating articles without demonstably asserting their notability (read WP:ATT and WP:MUSIC) is not allowed. As you've been contributing to Wikipedia for some time, you should be aware of these requirements. I strongly urge you to propose any future creations on talk pages, otherwise you may be blocked again and your edits deleted or reverted. Deiz talk 16:33, 24 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

my cky contributions

Decline reason:

No. Take Deiz's hint and read WP:ATT and WP:MUSIC before issuing any more complaints or requests, or before creating any more articles. And do please give us the courtesy of at least trying to write in English. — Sandstein 20:37, 24 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

unblock me and restore the oiL stuff — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ryanbricks (talkcontribs)

With the comment about English, I was referring to issues like spelling, orthography, capitalization. In my experience, people do tend to take one much more seriously if one shows that one takes them seriously by giving them the courtesy of writing with such things in mind, and thereby making oneself much more likely to be understood. That's just a friendly hint. You may of course use any spelling you like, but it will to some degree reduce your chances of being taken seriously in important situations such as, say, an unblock request. Image:Fo2.jpg listed for deletion

[edit]
Dear uploader: The media file you uploaded as Image:Fo2.jpg has been listed for speedy deletion because you selected a copyright license type implying some type of restricted use, such as for non-commercial use only, or for educational use only or for use on Wikipedia by permission. While it might seem reasonable to assume that such files can be freely used on Wikipedia, a non-profit website, this is in fact not the case. Please do not upload any more files with these restrictions on them, because content on Wikipedia needs to be compatible with the GNU Free Documentation License, which allows anyone to use it for any purpose, commercial or non-commercial.

If you created this media file and want to use it on Wikipedia, you may re-upload it (or amend the image description if it has not yet been deleted) and use the license {{GFDL-self-no-disclaimers}} to license it under the GFDL, or {{cc-by-sa-2.5}} to license it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, or use {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain.

If you did not create this media file but want to use it on Wikipedia, there are two ways to proceed. First, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list if you believe one of those fair use rationales applies to this file. Second, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.

If you have any questions please ask at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you. —Pilotguy (go around) 23:46, 24 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:Fo1.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

CKY

[edit]

I've blocked you indefinitely for repeated breaches of copyright (images and text, most recently a straight copy-and-paste from [1]). You've been around Wikipedia long enough, you should realize how serious an issue copyright is, yet despite previous warnings you seem unable to follow the rules. Copyright is a serious legal issue and one that Wikipedia should not be exposed to by Wikipedians who have been a) previously warned about copyright and b) editing for over 4 months. I'm sorry if this is disappointing. If you believe you can convince me, or another administrator, that you understand why this has happened and are willing to assert absolute compliance with copyright policy in future, and intend to contribute constructively and within the policies and guidelines of Wikipedia, you may do so in an unblock request. Given your previous problems, I would suggest you really take some time to think about what this means, and word any such request to the best of your ability.
