America's Team

[edit]

Hello,

As you point out, the term "America's Team" was coined for the Dallas Cowboys. It now has a long established usage with notable and reliable sources that indicate it is a specific nickname for the Dallas Cowboys. The article is about this specific nickname for the Cowboys. The article is not about the phrase "America's Team" in general. Or it shouldn't be because that's beyond the scope of the particular usage.

Nonetheless, there is a section at the bottom of the article which does talk about other notable uses of the term to refer to other sports teams. While I think that information does not belong in the article at all, it's not a battle I feel like engaging in for now. But definitely, any additional examples, like the one you are trying to insert, belong in that section and not the lead paragraph.

Look at it this way, there are many reliably reported notable incidents of teams being referred to as "America's Team". Why is this one more notable? It's not and therefore should not receive any more recognition than all the other ones listed in the "Other uses" section. Just because it's newer doesn't make it more important or meaningful.
