Help
[edit]{{help me}} This seemed the most intutive way to communicate. I just edited an almost-empty page, "Duncan's Taxonomy," which seems fair, since I'm Ralph Duncan, author of the taxonomy (long ago). It's gratifying that people still find the taxonomy useful. In short: I merely added the major categories (the page didn't list the taxonomy). Will tackle its orphan status in a subsequent outburst. Despite advanced age, this is my first attempt to contribute to Wikipedia. Please advise if I'm already going astray. Thanks! Ralph Duncan
- Hello there, Mr. Duncan. Great to meet you. The taxonomy is a fascinating idea, and indeed, it has stood the test of time.
- Thank you very much for adding to Wikipedia.
- I advise great caution in editing articles about yourself; it's tricky, due to the clear conflict of interest. Tricky, but certainly not insurmountable. What we ask is, that you don't directly edit the article. If, instead, you make suggestions for edits, then we'll be very happy to check they are appropriately neutral, and action them.
- I, personally, would love to be of assistance in that.
- I know Wikipedia can be extraordinarily tricky to new users. So I have deliberately tried not to fill this missive with links to complex policy, guidelines, and so forth; instead I will just say this:
- If you want to edit anything that is related to your own work - please, don't edit the article itself, but instead, ask on the talk page of the article. For example, for Duncan's Taxonomy - if you could click on the talk page, Talk:Duncan's Taxonomy, and post a suggestion there, that would be perfect.
- Also, if you could please type "{{Request edit}}", that will assure it gets attention from other editors.
- If you have any other questions, at all, please do not hesitate to put {{helpme}} here, on your own talk page, and asking.
- If you wish to contact me, personally, you may do so on User talk:Chzz
