Question from Dogbowl21 (15:55, 1 June 2024)

Hi! How would I create a new subheading/section on a page? --Dogbowl21 (talk) 15:55, 1 June 2024 (UTC)

If you're in the visual editor, there should be a drop down menu in the left side of the top bar that says "Paragraph" which lets you insert different headings. Alternatively, you can type ==Section title== for the high-level headings and add extra = signs for lower level headings. Rusalkii (talk) 19:56, 1 June 2024 (UTC)

Question from Evidence23 on User:Evidence23 (12:00, 5 June 2024)

The behavioural patterns of Nigerians as a consequence of the removal of petroleum subsidy, both in the abstract, introduction, statement of problem, conceptual review, conclusion, recommendation for a better behaviour --Evidence23 (talk) 12:00, 5 June 2024 (UTC)

I'm not sure what you're asking. This sounds like a study outline, which is usually not appropriate for Wikipedia. Rusalkii (talk) 23:25, 5 June 2024 (UTC)

Question from FamWood (09:49, 7 June 2024)

Hello! I am eager to create an article showcasing my family's history, which traces back to noble British families. I plan to write a comprehensive family history and include a family tree, all supported by proper citations and sources. While I've gone through some "how-to" guides, I'd appreciate any tips on how to approach this to increase the chances of crafting a successful draft that will be accepted. --FamWood (talk) 09:49, 7 June 2024 (UTC)

Hi! When creating articles about family lines (instead of individual members), what we look for is independently published secondary sources (so not e.g. birth certificates, nothing by the family) that talk about the family as a whole, rather than individual members. A good example would be a book or newspaper article talking about the family. Most families, even ones descended from nobility, don't meet this bar -- it's pretty likely, just based on your description, that yours doesn't either, but I can evaluate your sources for you if you like. Question from Fushafyusha8191987 (22:24, 5 June 2024)

How do I add an image and external links? --Fushafyusha8191987 (talk) 22:24, 5 June 2024 (UTC)

Hi, sorry for the late reply. You can add an image by Insert > Images and media from the top bar, which should let you pick any images from Commons. You can add an external link by clicking the "add link" icon in the top bar, which looks like a figure eight, and then selecting external link. Though note that the external link policy usually discourages them, and in most cases you should add a citation or have no link at all. Rusalkii (talk) 20:28, 20 June 2024 (UTC)

Question from PulchraNoctis (19:23, 14 June 2024)

Hello! Thank you for introducing yourself. I do have a question about adding citations: do we just need the extension, or do we need a server to run software? I was trying to learn how, and I ended up in a rabbit hole that made it confusing. Any insight is appreciated. --PulchraNoctis (talk) 19:23, 14 June 2024 (UTC)

Hi! You definitely don't need to run any kind of server yourself to add citations. In the visual editor, you should see a button in the top bar that looks like a quotation mark. If you click it, you should get a box to enter a URL in, at which point for most websites and links to books it'll generate one for you automatically. Rusalkii (talk) 21:43, 14 June 2024 (UTC)

Question from Ab Middelbos (10:05, 20 June 2024)

Hallo, hoe kun je voorkomen dat een familinaam vertaald wordt? --Ab Middelbos (talk) 10:05, 20 June 2024 (UTC)

Sorry, I don't speak Dutch and I'm not sure what you are asking. English Wikipedia doesn't translate family names. You may want to try asking at the Dutch Wikipedia.
Sorry, ik spreek geen Nederlands en ik weet niet zeker wat je vraagt. De Engelse Wikipedia vertaalt geen familienamen. Je kunt het misschien proberen op de Nederlandse Wikipedia. Rusalkii (talk) 20:17, 20 June 2024 (UTC)

Question from Mrs. Meena C (22:15, 24 June 2024)

How do I add a citation to my edit? I have the web address I don't understand the format to add a citation as "proof" for the information I'm adding. --Mrs. Meena C (talk) 22:16, 24 June 2024 (UTC)

Question from Alainaluvspizza (19:43, 25 June 2024)

How do I create my own article --Alainaluvspizza (talk) 19:43, 25 June 2024 (UTC)

You can create an article by going through the WP:Article creation wizard, though if by "own article" you mean an article about yourself that is discouraged by our conflict of interest policy. Rusalkii (talk) 20:05, 26 June 2024 (UTC)

Question from AbdulJudas on Sidney Kingsley (20:30, 26 June 2024)

How do I add a photo? --AbdulJudas (talk) 20:30, 26 June 2024 (UTC)

In the visual editor, you can go to "Insert" -> Images and media in the top bar. This will let you search through commons for a picture, or upload your own. If you do upload a picture, make sure it's uploaded with a compatible license -- something you took yourself which you can release, or something clearly labeled by the authors as public domain, CC-by-SA, or other license from this list: Wikipedia:File copyright tags/Free licenses.
