Fair use rationale for Image:Jokelopedia.JPG

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Jokelopedia.JPG. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. RE:Help!

[edit]

The problem with the image is that it didn't have a fair use rationale. You didn't fix it by fixing the typos. I fixed it by adding the rationale. Please read WP:NFC and remember that all fair use images must include a fair use rationale. Happy editing! --Boricuaeddie 17:48, 9 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

WP:CVU status

[edit]

The Wikipedia:Counter-Vandalism Unit project is under consideration to be moved to {{inactive}} and/or {{historical}} status. Another proposal is to delete or redirect the project. You have been identified as a project member and your input as to this matter would be welcomed at WT:CVU#Inactive.3F and at the deletion debate. Thank you! bad answers

[edit]

What do you mean bad answers on my RFA page? What did I do wrong? MMAfan2007 18:26, 13 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

as opposed to good answers?

[edit]

Runewiki, when a user has three months and 198 edits on his/her record, s/he is not yet capable of giving bad ansers, let alone good ones - they're simply too new. That's why it may be a good idea to provide them with useful links, e.g. to past successful nominations etc, which I'm going to do right now. —AldeBaer 20:01, 13 August 2007 (UTC)

Re: Commited identity

[edit]

Hey there! A committed identity is a way to prove ownership of your account if it gets hijacked and you regain control. Check out Template:User committed identity for more details, or I'll be more than willing to help you through the steps to making one. One thing that the documentation doesn't mention is that you can use sites like [1] to make hashes, but for the most security you should only use local programs. east.718 at 18:53, August 13, 2007—please reply on my talk page!

Here's how it works—you take a password only you know, and then run it through a one-way cryptographic function. You then put what you get on your userpage to establish that you were in control of your account at that time. In the case that your account is hijacked and you regain control, simply provide the original password to an admin or other trusted user—if the hash that they get matches the one on your page, you've established that you're back in control. Let's say that you want to create a hash with the password "test". Go here, and run a hash function on "test", for this example I'll use MD4, just because it's first. Take the result (db346d691d7acc4dc2625db19f9e3f52) and put it on your userpage using the UCI template. In the case that your account got stolen and you got back control, an admin would ask you for the password, and upon receiving it repeat the process and see that you do in fact control your account (since the hashes would match). Hope that helped! east.718 at 19:01, August 13, 2007—please reply on my talk page!
You messed it up somewhere, the hash on your userpage is too short to be SHA-512. east.718 at 20:25, August 13, 2007—please reply on my talk page!

No. The article still needs a lot of work. In order to become "Start" class, it must follow Wikipedia:WikiProject Novels/ArticleTemplate. When that's done, I'll review it again and remove the template if the problem has been solved. --Boricuaeddie 22:15, 21 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Redirect of P.S.48

[edit]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on P.S.48, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because P.S.48 is a redirect to a non-existent page (CSD R1).

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting P.S.48, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. RE:Edit count problem!

[edit]

Hello, Ron. Firstly, I would like to advise you not to check your edit count so much; please read WP:EDITCOUNTITIS. Edit count should not be used to determine the quality or value of an editor to this project. Secondly, your preferences is the most reliable source for finding your edit count, as it is updated automatically by the MediaWiki software, and it includes deleted edits. --Agüeybaná 20:33, 18 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Seaofmonsters.JPG

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Seaofmonsters.JPG. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 15:30, 24 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Help

[edit]

The bot was looking for a link to the article The Sea of Monsters to satisfy WP:NFCC#10c. Your rationale included a link to Sea of Monsters, but that was a redirect to the Yellow Submarine (album) article. I can understand your confusion, using the bot to tag for such a trivial concern is pretty stupid. ˉˉanetode╦╩ 20:02, 24 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
