RfA voting

[edit]

Lately, I have seen that you've been citing edit count after supporting/opposing an editor. I hope you do realize that we do not promote editors on their edit count; we promote them on the work they have done on Wikipedia, and whether or not we think they are trustworthy enough for the adminship tools. Anyway, I hope that if you were using editcount as a reason, you will now look at the merits of the user. Remember, quality > quantity. Thanks, Nishkid64 (talk) 20:58, 11 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

P.S. I am also a former RuneScape player. :-P Nishkid64 (talk) 20:58, 11 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Quantity matters sometimes, but when we cite edit counts, we are trying to elaborate why we do not think a particular user is experienced enough for adminship. Edit count sometimes correlates to experience, but that's not always true. For example, see SirFozzie's RfA. He has a very low mainspace edit total, yet he's getting unanimous support, even from me. I usually oppose people based on inexperience, and I use editcounts sometimes to make a judgment call (but usually it's more of an evaluation of the editor's contributions that I look at). Also, see WP:EDITCOUNT. Nishkid64 (talk) 21:15, 11 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Khayrpur

[edit]

Thank you for acting promptly in reverting. In my defence I have to say I am exasperated at the efforts of some editors who are determined to use wikipedia as a forum to further their specific interests. The text dump I removed was originally on the talk page of the article because the author had agreed not to promote his particular viewpoints (he believes the former state was and is being suppressed, which is fine but there are appropriate ways of highlighting this). Instead of working to improve his desired additions he simply dumped more and more text onto the talk page. Indeed the text dump has been there on the main page for some months but very little real progress has been made by the author to bring the article into line with wikipedia requirements. I hope you can understand this, because it is what what drives me away from being more active on wikipedia. Green Giant 23:01, 14 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:Knight5.JPG. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

What a strange message to leave on my talk page. Assuming good faith (that is, I'm not just assuming you are being disingenuous), I thank you, notwithstanding the fact that an article I nominate for AfD would be on my watchlist. I should also point out that it was neither a trial, nor a competition, for any party to win, lose, fail or succeed. - Tiswas(t) 08:55, 15 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Thank you visiting and commenting at my RfA, I have tried to expand on my philosophy and answers, and hope that these address your concerns. Even if they don't, thanks for stopping by. DrKiernan 14:05, 15 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yes. This RfA has developed quite a bit since you left your original note and I think it woud be nice if you gave it some more thought based on the extra comments made by DrKiernan and other editors. Thanks Pascal.Tesson 14:22, 15 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Careful with Warnings

[edit]

Hello. Please do not warn vandals a level three warning on their first offense like you did here. Please use level 1 warnings on their first act of vandalism, and then continue with a level 2 and 3 warning if they continue vandalizing. Please refer to Wikipedia:Template_messages/User_talk_namespace or visit my Counter-Vandalism Center to learn more about warning vandals. Thank you. Yours sincerely, Eddie 17:31, 17 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, it wasn't their first offense, but they had not been warned before, so you still have to give them a level 1 warning. To answer your second question; I'm not an admin, but I'm planning on becoming one soon. You can see a full list of admins here. Happy editing! Yours sincerely, Eddie 17:47, 17 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

My RfA Nomination

[edit]

Hello. Thank you for nominating me for adminship! I am truly honored. However, I must sadly decline your nomination at this moment, as I've been advised by Húsönd to wait a couple of months before accepting any nomination. If you want to co-nom me along with User:Politics rule and User:Husond at that time, I will happily accept. Again, thank you. Happy editing! Yours sincerely, Eddie 19:22, 18 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Runewiki, just to let you know, I deleted the nomination because Boricuaeddie has declined at present, but whenever he does decide to go for it, feel free to add a nom or co-nom to a new one :-) Cheers, Ryan Postlethwaite 19:32, 18 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there; you may be right. But it is wiki policy to give blocks of increasing length with repeated vandalism, rather than immediate indefinite blocks. This user has not previously been blocked, and hence 48 hours is reasonable (Many admins would have said 24). The next time he vandalises it will be a week, then a month, and so forth.--Anthony.bradbury"talk" 21:20, 20 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I see a vandal moved your userpage User:Runewiki666 and your talk page to User talk:Runewiki666. Nonsense redirects created during reversions of page move vandalism meet criteria for speedy deletion and get tagged with {{db-pagemove}}. ≈ Mystytopia 22:32, 20 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image (Image:Tacticsarena2.JPG)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Tacticsarena2.JPG. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 08:10, 21 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not keep changing the text in Jeffree Star to read "...after punching two female fans in the face after spectators standing near them threw bottles onstage." He did not punch two fans, he punched one. There are two references given that say there was only one.
