Hello, RotcehVG, and welcome to Wikipedia! My name is Shalor and I work with the Wiki Education Foundation; I help support students who are editing as part of a class assignment.

I hope you enjoy editing here. If you haven't already done so, please check out the student training library, which introduces you to editing and Wikipedia's core principles. Draft notes

[edit]

Hi! I wanted to leave you some notes about your draft:

  • Make sure that you write as neutrally as possible. Avoid using subjective phrases. Even if it's something that most people would likely agree with (ie, that ASL is beautiful), it's still subjective. We can only include subjective language if we're quoting or writing something that is attributed to something someone said in a reliable source. I see that it's marked as a quote later down in the article, so you'd need to either mark it as a quote in the lead or remove the mention of beauty.
  • This needs more sourcing to help establish notability for Vaday, specifically sourcing that is independent of Vaday. I'm concerned that there isn't a lot of coverage out there for him. I can see where there are primary sources, such as his TEDxUCLA talk, and self-published sources, but not really things like academic/scholarly or newspaper sources that write about him. The YouTube interview is one that will likely be seen as a self-published source, unless you can show that the channel is routinely seen as a reliable source by other reliable sources, particularly academic and scholarly sources.

This brochure should help when it comes to the article, as it covers creating biography articles. I hope it helps! Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 20:37, 28 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion discussion about Austin Vaday

[edit]

Hello, RotcVG,

Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username Atsme and it's nice to meet you :-)

I wanted to let you know that I've started a discussion about whether an article that you created, Austin Vaday should be deleted. Your comments are welcome over Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Austin Vaday .

You might like to note that such discussions usually run for seven days and are not ballot-polls. And, our guide about effectively contributing to such discussions is worth a read. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Atsme}}. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!
