The People's Party is a socially conscious band out of Venice Beach, California. The band consists of Curtis James (guitar and vocals), David Garner (keyboard and vocals), Orlando Boyd (drums), Tony Glaser (bass), Robbie Marshall (saxophone), Justin Kirk (trombone), Chris Bautista (trumpet) and Will Volume (violin).

The band formed in 2004, but didn't release their first album until 2008, with their debut, We Am One. This album included the collaboration of over twenty musicians, produced by lead singer, Curtis James, and engineered by Bob Tucker (Tupac, The Temptations).

The band's style, known as "hippie hop", draws from many musical traditions, including rock, funk, hip-hop, jazz, folk, and soul. The band cites such diverse acts as Phish, The Grateful Dead, A Tribe Called Quest, Paul Simon, David Bowie, De La Soul, The Meters, Greyboy All Stars, Dave Matthews Band and Medeski, Martin and Wood as major influences. [1]

Political and social commentary, often accompanied by spiritual imagery, are major aspects of The People's Party lyrics. James and Garner share songwriting duties.

Known for their impromptu, guerilla concerts, The People's Party tour in "The People's Portable Party Platform", a truck that converts into a 20,000 watt stage in a matter of minutes. They often show up unexpectedly at college campuses, sporting events, political rallies and other large gatherings to play for the crowds.
