Welcome!

Hello, Rollin1989, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on discussion pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{helpme}} before the question. Again, welcome!

Fist of all, I would like to applaud you on a job well done!! Your first article was tremendous. I made several minor changes, and unfortunately, had to remove the lyrics (Sorry!). The reason for this is because this is generally not included in song-related articles. The way it is seen is "this is a factual encyclopedia, not a band advertisement...". <--I don't make the rules :-)

Also, I want to remind you to sign your posts with four tildes, like this: ~~~~ That will produce your signature with a timestamp, something like this:

But note that I customized mine in "my preferences", so it will appear slightly different. (I always am changing mine to make it fancy and different).

Finally, creating references is very important. To learn how to cite your sources, check out WP:CITE. <-- This is one of our core policies at Wikipedia. (I know, I kind of sound like a nerd, but get used to it because there's lots of us :-) Just kidding!) Oh yeah, I believe in the message above, it says something about pages to view to familiarize yourself with Wikipedia policies (I don't know, it's just a template where I type {{subst:Welcome}}).

P.S., If you decide to start reverting vandalism, you may want to consider getting Twinkle. It's great. (But it does require Mozilla Firefox to be your internet browser.)

Cheers,

Curran (talk | contibs | random) 22:05, 23 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

BTW, please feel free to ask me any questions about citing sources, policies, Wiki-formatting, or anything else on my talk page. I'd also be happy to proof read any of your new articles. Happy editing!

Thanks for the compliment!

I'll take note of all the rules. I do want to try and take what I do here seriously. I hope one day, to become an administrator, (a long road ahead of me, I know) and want to try and learn about how things are done here.

I will be installing Firefox, so I will be vigilant against vandilism as soon as I have twinkle.

Again, thanks, and hope to see you around soon.

Oh, and, yeah, I thought I might not be allowed lyrics, but I gave it a shot anyway.

Am I allowed to post lyrics from an external site?

Thanks

Rollin1989

Unstable (song)

[edit]

A "{{prod}}" template has been added to the article Unstable (song), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice explains why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Welcome, and thank you for experimenting with the page Unstable (song) on Wikipedia. Your test worked, and it has been reverted or removed. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to our encyclopedia. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you. <--Another template (would you believe it) :-) Just remember to type ~~~~ instead of actually typing your user name. It saves time, and linkifies your name so someone can easily find your talk page. Curran (talk | contibs | random) 01:48, 24 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding your questions

[edit]

Okay, let me try to answer your questions one by one.

1. Since you recommended that Twinkle thing... I'm having some trouble installing it. I'm not sure whats meant by my monobook.js?

Alright, no problem. Here's the link: User:Rollin1989/monobook.js. Click 'edit this page', and then paste the line below. Then it's as simple as saving the page and pressing Ctrl + Shift + R. The tool itself is pretty self-explanatory-- you'll learn fast. Here's that line to paste.
importScript('User:AzaToth/twinkle.js');

2. Am I allowed to post lyrics from an external site?

I am unsure what you mean by this. Do you mean that you want to link a songs lyrics under the external links section of an article? Let me know.

Cheers,

Curran (talk | contibs | random) 02:02, 24 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. I've noticed that you've been adding your signature to some of your article contributions. This is a simple mistake to make and by now should have been corrected. For future reference, the need to associate edits with users is taken care of by an article's edit history. Therefore, you should use your signature only when contributing to talkpages, the Village Pump, or other such discussion pages. For a better understanding of what distinguishes articles from these type of pages, please see What is an article?. Again, thanks for contributing, and enjoy your Wikipedia experience! Thank you. This is just to let you know that you don't need to sign on articles, just talk pages, and comments you leave. Basically, anything BUT articles. Lyrics

[edit]

In reply to your question about posting external links to a lyrics site, I would say yes. While I can't recall ever seeing this done, per WP:BB, I would have to say, "go ahead," as the worst thing that can happen is that they are removed, and you find out not to. Sorry that I'm no expert on this particular topic. If you're really distressed by it, you can always post the question to the Help Desk. Also, great job with the ~s.
