Removing Speedy at Amar Kanwal
Hi Roleplayer, you recently removed a deletion tag from Amar Kanwal. Because Wikipedia policy does not allow the creator of the page to remove speedy deletion tags, an automated program has replaced the tag. Although the deletion proposal may be incorrect, removing the tag is not the correct way for you to contest the deletion, even if you are more experienced than the nominator. Instead, please use the talk page to explain why the page should not be deleted. Remember to be patient, there is no harm in waiting for another experienced user to review the deletion and judge what the right course of action is. As you are involved, and therefore potentially biased, you should refrain from doing this yourself. Thank you, - SDPatrolBot (talk) 00:35, 5 February 2012 (UTC)
- I am down as the "creator" because I moved the third incarnation of the article to Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Amar Kanwal. This is the fourth incarnation of the article and I need to remove the CSD tag because notability is now established, albeit not backed up by reliable sources. All the same the latter issue is a different tag, and I should be able to remove the CSD tag without the system automatically replacing it. -- roleplayer 00:42, 5 February 2012 (UTC)
I've done some expansion of the top of my head but need sources (which i've tagged). Could you add to that?Lihaas (talk) 03:52, 5 February 2012 (UTC)
- With the sourcing done we can nominate the article at Template:Did you know nominations/National Movement for the Liberation of Azawad. Lihaas (talk) 04:56, 5 February 2012 (UTC)
- Hi, I have sourced all statements except the one about Algeria's intelligence agency, for which I can't find anything on the news channels. I have also done some tidying grammatically. -- roleplayer 13:13, 5 February 2012 (UTC)
- cool, nice work.
- The Algeria one was from an op-=ed on AlJazeera some mths ago but cant find it ;( (which i now realise was quite prophetic)Lihaas (talk) 05:31, 6 February 2012 (UTC)
- do you have an ecowas source? and can you reflink the page?Lihaas (talk) 19:23, 9 February 2012 (UTC)

Ecowas? In what context?-- roleplayer 20:06, 9 February 2012 (UTC)- Fixed. -- roleplayer 20:12, 9 February 2012 (UTC)
Hi, I note your comment on the removel of the speedy deletion tag from the above article. Sadly having been editing Wikipedia for a few years now I have seen articles deleted under A7 where notability has been very clearly established, and have seen articles kept under A7 where notability is about as far off as Outer Mongolia. I have now come to the conclusion that successful deletion under this category has less to do with Wikipedia policy, and more to do with personal opinion. So when the originating editor challenged that they had quite clearly made claims of notability but had not backed them up with references yet I decided to have the A7 tag removed. Feel free to add it again if you feel the article meets the criteria. -- roleplayer 13:31, 5 February 2012 (UTC)
- I disagree on this personal opinion argument, but I thought I should give the editor(s) a chance to prove their point. And in this case, I think it's fine to remove the tag, if you explain why you did. Drmies (talk) 15:19, 5 February 2012 (UTC)

thank you for letting me have my own sandbox, but, the page "my very own test facility for edits" was a very big one, and I want a copy of the page "my very own test facility for edits" so i can copy the content of the page "my very own test facility for edits" on to oscar45596524/sandbox. thank you Oscar45596524 (talk) 18:04, 5 February 2012 (UTC)oscar45596524
- Then you need to speak to User:Jimfbleak, who is the admin that deleted the article. I'm not an admin, and am not able to view deleted content. -- roleplayer 18:07, 5 February 2012 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification
Hi. When you recently edited High Wycombe, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page St Vincent (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

DYK for National Movement for the Liberation of Azawad
On 21 February 2012, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article National Movement for the Liberation of Azawad, which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that following the 2011 Libyan civil war, many Tuareg fighters for the defeated government became members of the National Movement for the Liberation of Azawad, seeking an independent Azawad? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/National Movement for the Liberation of Azawad. You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and add it to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page. |

Vandalism at February 17
Hi, just to let you know when I put "vandalism" into my edit summary I didn't mean you. The three prior edits before you were all vandalism, and rather than try and sort out the issues individually the easiest thing to do was just to revert back to the non-vandalised version. -- roleplayer 23:25, 2 March 2012 (UTC)
- No worry, I figured out we attacked it simultaneously. I don't think it was vandalism but an honest attempt by a newbie. I had it sorted out but your edit overrode mine, lol. I'll add back the sorted out event and message point him/her to WP:DOY regarding red links. Ken Tholke (talk) 23:41, 2 March 2012 (UTC)
February 17 page
So you are aware, wherever the mixup occured, things appear to be straightened out. I was scrambling to cook dinner at the time, I should not have tried to squeeze the edit in once your edit initially overrode mine. I was just tring to think in terms of what it was like to be a newbie and make an honest attempt, only to have that attempt misinterpreted as vandalism. I would have felt a bit discouraged. You could be right, since he didn't change it to the correct date, it could be vandalism but I try to WP:AGF where I'm not clear. I had added it in its correct spot...1992 but overlooked it still being in 1998 because of my haste. Look through the edits, you'll see. Oops :) Ken Tholke (talk) 00:42, 3 March 2012 (UTC)
- I'm a bit old and jaded at this, which is probably why I'll never be an admin. Not that I want to be an admin. Generally I see people adding themselves to date articles, as this user did, as deserving of the first step of the vandalism warning. I see this as a good neutral first step because that warning boilerplate doesn't actually mention vandalism anywhere, just in the template name. It's all water under the bridge now anyway, and you appear not to have picked up on my error in my edit summary referring to the war ending in 194: the cat had chosen that moment to fall asleep on my arm, making typing a trifle difficult! -- roleplayer 00:46, 3 March 2012 (UTC)
- I saw 194, raced to check if I REALLY erred, then realized it was a typo. Phew! And it was due to my haste once again that it didn't even ring home that he had added himself, despite the event being the day he was born as a dead giveaway. My attention was divided between this and the expensive 3/4" rib-eyes which were about to get overcooked. Fortunately, this got straightened out in the end and the steaks turned out perfect :) Not the first time I've erred in haste, sure it won't be the last. Thanks for picking up the ball for me Ken Tholke (talk) 01:06, 3 March 2012 (UTC)
- I hope you like your steak rare. Anything else is definitely overcooked! -- roleplayer 01:08, 3 March 2012 (UTC)
sorry?
Hi im new to wikipedia and i dont understand why you are warning me i feel very relaxed — Preceding unsigned comment added by Badmac999 (talk • contribs) 22:52, 3 March 2012 (UTC)
- You added yourself to Fastest organisms, stating you can run at 300mph. Seeing as I haven't seen an expose of your extraordinary talent on the news I can only assume that you're making it up. Please don't do that, it's vandalism. If you want to experiment use the sandbox, not articles. -- roleplayer 22:57, 3 March 2012 (UTC)
sorry again
look im sorry again. just being a bit silly but ive had my fun now and im going to fix any articles i have messed with, this wont happen again. sandbox is fine to practice? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Badmac999 (talk • contribs) 22:59, 3 March 2012 (UTC)
- I didn't hold my breath, with justification. You've just been blocked indefinitely. -- roleplayer 23:03, 3 March 2012 (UTC)
Happy Birthday (2012)

Beginner question
You messaged me to welcome me to wikipedia , so thought id fire a question at you , I only really registered as i want to create a wikipedia page about myself (im a boxing promotor) , am i not really allowed to do one myself , and if it is allowed could i then get you to look at it when done to do it correctly as my inexperience will make it seem a bit of a mess . Thanks in advance . Damian . — Preceding unsigned comment added by Damianhucker (talk • contribs) 10:28, 12 March 2012 (UTC)
- Hi Damian. I really can't discourage that course of action enough. When you write about yourself or a subject to which you are closely connected you have a conflict of interest. It is very difficult in that situation to stay objective and stick just to facts that can be backed up using verifiable evidence, as is required for all information on Wikipedia. The best thing to do is to wait for someone else to start an article about you. See Wikipedia:Conflict of interest for more information. -- roleplayer 17:12, 12 March 2012 (UTC)

- Just for clarification purposes I neither created nor contributed to the article. I merely placed the submission tag to the article as it appeared to have been omitted by the creating user. I had previously tagged an identical article in mainspace for speedy deletion; it has subsequently been deleted. -- roleplayer 15:22, 18 March 2012 (UTC)
