Hello, two points.

First, per MOS:OVERLINK, we do not link nationalities in the ledes of biographical articles, such as "American", "Canadian", etc.

Second, if we anticipate a player's call-up to be temporary, then we use  to hide the prospect league and phrase in the lede. We do not delete the information, because when the player is sent back down to the AHL, then an editor will have to manually add that information back in.

Hello. To add to my previous comment, 1. Our defenceman article is specifically on the ice hockey position. It does not need to be disambiguated. 2. Per MOS:CURRENTLY and MOS:REALTIME, use of the word "currently" should be avoided when possible. The current sentence construction (defenceman for the Colorado Avalanche) implies currency.
