Kent Hughes
[edit]His biography, Frederick Howard, Kent Hughes (Macmillan 1972), gives Wilfrid, as does the Commonwealth Parliamentary Handbook (I have every edition back to 1953). So does the Biographical Register of the Victorian Parliament 1900-1984. So does Martin's Menzies biography. Trust me on this. Adam 07:18, 25 June 2006 (UTC)
Sorry about that. These things happen. Had you not drawn my attention to him by changing Wilfrid to Wilfred, I would not have noticed that there was no article on such an interesting character. Adam 14:40, 25 June 2006 (UTC)
Excellent additions to this again. Adam 16:48, 2 July 2006 (UTC)
Henry Barwell
[edit]Good day,
May I ask why you made the article on Henry Barwell monolithic? That makes it much harder to manage for editors. --Folajimi 21:14, 2 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit]Hi there: I came across your user page accidentally, chasing up a link on Giovanna of Savoy (which is correct, being the name she herself would have used). I feel that I need to update you; if you go to the restaurant in the basement of the Vatican Museum, you can now get beer there! That leaves only one dry country for your list of flags.--Anthony.bradbury 16:46, 3 July 2006 (UTC)
- Hi again. I know we are being light-hearted, but in fact your other helpful user is wrong; at Mass in St. Peter's distribution is of bread only.--Anthony.bradbury 08:37, 4 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit]Thanks for your words of encouragement. Any suggestions as to how to effectively deal with the anon, other than running screaming from the computer :-), gratefully accepted. Any time you feel I have overstepped the mark and should have run from the computer instead, please feel free to drop me a hint. For example, in response to recent edits and their associated edit summaries, I have just semi-pretected the article - was that too much? Thanks--A Y Arktos\talk 21:50, 26 July 2006 (UTC)

License tagging for Image:Player's cigarettes card - Jack Badcock.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Player's cigarettes card - Jack Badcock.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:
This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 09:04, 6 August 2006 (UTC)
Tonkin is mentioned a number of times in Felicia (p155, 237, 270, 280); mainly dealing with his private members bill to abolish discrimination which Dunstan adopted, and his very placid style style of communication. Other than that, I can't think of any other Dunstan-specific resources which could assist. However, while researching the O-Bahn and making a start on MATS, he's not-so-fondly remembered (by me, at least) for selling off all the land held for transport corridors. michael talk 07:20, 15 August 2006 (UTC)
- Nice article! Styled and paced well, just like the others. Interesting that there's no mention of him being the 'part-time leader', as he continued to practice as a surgeon while opposition leader (I did some reading in the meantime). michael talk 04:36, 3 September 2006 (UTC)
File:Scarlettanager99.jpg | Hello, Roisterer, and thank you for the support on my recent RfA. The final tally was 72/1/0, and I have now been entrusted with the mop. I'll be tentative with the new buttons for a while, and certainly welcome any and all feedback on how I might be able to use them to help the project. [edit]Thank you for your offer of assistance. Firstly feel free to edit my draft if you have anything to add (bare in mind of course, I am entirely aware of the spelling errors currently in the draft) and secondly I have hit something of a wall when trying to find information about his career in the 1980s. While A Liberal Awakening and Liberals in Limbo are both good sources, they were published in about 1973 and 1977 respectively and I've found it difficult all the way over here in Melbourne finding sources on 1980s South Australian politics which frankly did not have the same excitement of the Dunstan decade. I'd appreciate it if you could point me in the direction of a general South Australian politics text (which would probably be in my university library) or something which could help me out. As it stands I need at least a paragraph on the 1980s because as the article currently stands it is relatively detailed until then and abruptly ends despite his leadership of the opposition in the Legislative Council and presidency of the Liberal Party. Iliaura
[edit]Hi Roisterer. That wasn't vandalism on List of Indigenous Australian group names. I removed Iliaura because it is already there under Alyawarra, which is the correct, current spelling for these people. (That or Alyawarre). Iliaura is a very old-fashioned spelling. Archives
[edit]Your archives were improperly formatted. For example you named your archive for 2006 User talk:Roisterer 2006 Archive. That is incorrect, for it to be in your userspaces it has to be located at User talk:Roisterer/2006 Archive. Notice the backslash seperating the part that says the year and your name. Please make sure that future archives are made with this format. — Moe 22:36, 9 October 2006 (UTC)

Re: Thomas Playford IV Photo
[edit]Actually it is not a photo that I took a photo of. I took a photo of a video that was being played at "The Voice of the People - Democracy comes to SA" exhibition at Torrens Parade Ground, Victoria Drive, Adelaide SA. The video was an ABC 7:30 report or 4 corners or some such back in the 60s. Hopefully that is ok for fair use. In regards to Hall, the best I got was http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Don_Steele.JPG - unfortunately none of Walsh. Excellent photos of both could have also been taken from the video but I did not take them. If you happen to live in Adelaide, I do highly recommend a trip to this free exhibition. Timeshift 03:49, 27 October 2006 (UTC)
- Also, I went to parliament house today pretty much opposite the exhibition and asked if I could take pictures of both houses. The receptionist got one of the helpers to come down, they asked me what I wanted it for, I said a project, they said no problems. So yeah I follow him and take pictures of the HA and LC. They are now up on South Australian House of Assembly and South Australian Legislative Council. I know you're not a copyright expert nor am I expecting you to be one, but in your general opinion do you believe there would be any issues in uploading these pictures on to a website such as wikipedia? Timeshift 04:07, 27 October 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for the reply. Also, your opinion would be much appreciated on Image_talk:Peter_Beattie.jpg - this affects all Australian politicians. Timeshift 06:51, 1 November 2006 (UTC)
- I did Hall and Walsh's photos from the parliament website. Walsh and the fair use rationale used should have no issues because he's dead (ie: Don Dunstan's photo), and let's see how Hall's fair use rationale and subsequent image police patrollings go... by the way, I did two others but they were easy as their photos were taken before 1955 - I was going to do more of them, but already saw that you had done the rest of the early premiers photos! Well done! We now have a photo for each premier of SA :-) Timeshift 20:02, 2 November 2006 (UTC)
How about a clue, if no-one is correct. --Dweller 19:52, 31 October 2006 (UTC)

- Port Power - Port Power Football Club - Port Adelaide Power Football Club
If you want to a skewed view you can do so on this page: Port Adelaide Football Club. On the other pages i have mentioned i will look for a more accurate reflection of the truth, which is what wikki is meant for. Consult me if you have any questions.

Pipelinking obscuring what is being linked
[edit]Greeting, Roi. In esponse tot he question you posted on my talk page, yes, it is. Please see Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style_(links)#Form:
- "It is possible to link words that are not exactly the same as the linked article title — for example, English. However, make sure that it is still clear what the link refers to without having to follow the link."
- In talking about cricket, English people know that "Derbyshire" refers to the Derbyshire County Cricket Club. People who are not familiar with English cricket clubs won't mak that connection. Wikipedia is an international encyclopedia. One of the great joys of Wikipedia is that readers can read on a mind-bogglingly wide range of topics. We can assist readers who don't already know about a subject, especially those in other countries by not assuming that they know a lot about the topic to start with. The Wikipedia Guide to writing better articles encourages us to "think of the reader":
- "Wikipedia is an international encyclopedia. The people who read it have different backgrounds, education and worldview from you. Try to make your article accessible to as many of them as possible. The reader is probably reading the article to learn. It's quite possible the reader knows nothing at all about the subject: the article needs to explain it to them."
- I hope this helps. Regards, Ground Zero | t 05:37, 26 November 2006 (UTC)

photo suggestions
[edit]Hi,
I see you uploaded the photo Image:William Denison.jpg yesterday. I just wanted to suggest that in future when you upload public domain images that you try doing it in the Wikiedia Commons. Its just like using wikipedia (you have to make a new account, but you can use the same username and password and it takes like 2 second). When images are in the commons, they can be used in all the wiki projects more easily. For this particular photo you can stick it in Category:Viceroys of India and Category:Order of the Bath or Category:British honours system. Good luck, and keep it up. Dowew 08:42, 8 December 2006 (UTC)
Again, if I'm correct, please dispose of the question setting as you see fit. Thanks (and nice question btw) --Dweller 15:02, 8 December 2006 (UTC)
