A tag has been placed on Jan Verkade requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, an individual animal, an organization (band, club, company, etc.), web content or an organised event, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. 66.87.77.177 (talk) 23:28, 16 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I have removed this 'speedy delete' tag on Jan Verkade and added a comment to his talk page as I am playing about with the article you created as a stub some years ago. Work in progress... please join in if you're interested! Regards, Eebahgum (talk) 02:11, 17 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome back

[edit]

Good to see you back. If you want any help trying to retrieve your old account, let me know. Tyrenius (talk) 16:25, 29 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you very much! You've spotted me, I have found your message just before signing in to get in touch with you. Indeed, it would be good to have my old account (lost in a hardware crash) back as a subpage of the new one. If this is posssible and you could help me along, perfect! All the best, --rpd (talk) 17:09, 29 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It may be possible to get your old account back, but this would require a bit of work. If it's not that important, the simplest thing would just be to post a link from this account, i.e. on your current user page:

Previously editing as User:R.P.D.

and maybe on this talk page:

Previous talk page, see User talk:R.P.D.

The content of your old account can be copied to your new account if it's important. I can do the coding for you, if you let me know what you want. You could open an account with a closer name to the original, such as User:R.P.D.2 or User:R.P.D. II, as User:Giano did in similar circumstances with User:Giano II, redirecting his user pages; see see User:Giano. Tyrenius (talk) 18:17, 29 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Van Gogh Ivy

[edit]

The image for Ivy has gone on Ivy, two paintings by Vincent van Gogh and Vincent van Gogh's display at Les XX, 1890. I want to replace it, but can't find an image. I'm confused as to which painting is referred to. vggallery.com lists:

Tree Trunks with Ivy July, 1889 Amsterdam, Van Gogh Museum 746 1762
Undergrowth with Ivy July, 1889 Amsterdam, Van Gogh Museum 745 1764
Tree Trunks with Ivy Summer, 1889 Otterlo, Kröller-Müller Museum 747 1763

Van Gogh: The Complete Paintings (Taschen) doesn't list Ivy. I wonder if you could clarify. Tyrenius (talk) 20:00, 31 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

There's a contradiction in titles then, as you linked to A Corner in the Garden of Saint-Paul Hospital, yet the wiki articles don't mention this title, only Ivy. This needs to be clarified. Tyrenius (talk) 20:59, 31 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. Tyrenius (talk) 21:49, 31 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A bit more confusion on Vincent van Gogh's display at Les XX, 1890. The painting described as "838. Underwoods. Present whereabouts unknown." was also linked to the Ivy image. Is this correct or is it a different work? Also, please check image on Ivy, two paintings by Vincent van Gogh. Is this correct? If so, which painting should be put in the info box? Paris Bourse crash

[edit]

I've just started to look again at the article on Emile Schuffenecker, and notice a reference to a crash on the bourse in 1880. Do you know if this is the correct date? I have found a some information about a crash in Febuary or March of 1882 (following le krach de l' Union Générale). Stumps (talk) 03:21, 23 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I added my response. Thank you, - Modernist (talk) 15:58, 27 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

While I appreciate your concern, I'd prefer if you wouldn't add notes to my talk page as you left today. I was engaged in dialogue with that editor and he wrote that to me in haste. No harm done, but I'd ask you not to repeat your inclusion. If you haven't seen my response to your inquiry it is on Talk:Post Impressionism. I can repeat it here in the future if you would prefer. The more time I spend reading that article the more I realize how truly lacking the text is and how poorly it has been written. Why - may I ask did you add this sentence and tag? - "In the years 1918-1933, people united in Europe to dance on a vulcan.[citation needed]"? What does that have to do with Post Impressionism? Thank you..

Modernist (talk) 01:39, 30 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, it was not my intention to cause trouble. I simply realised that a recent message was gone, and thought you might miss it. - Normally, I agree, discussion has its place in the talk space of the article, and not in the user talk space. With due respect - this was your last edit before I changed the gallery. - [1], on my computer the gallery ran clear into the Signac. I changed the gallery, added a section, and now I'll return the gallery to normal....because I think it'll be ok now.....you're welcome. Modernist (talk) 22:28, 17 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I see you have again forced a specific size for gallery. This may work well on your desktop, but definitely not on all. Therefore, please reconsider that a default setting may allow a better effect on the screens of other collaborators. All the best, --rpd (talk) 22:22, 17 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

the gallery was altered because of your erroneous edits. I've changed it back now thanks to my changes. Perhaps you should be more careful in the future. Modernist (talk) 22:54, 17 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Why the hell are you fighting over such a trivial change? The standard is just leaving it up to the browser to render the gallery as appropiated. (And even if it wasn't, there are better things to argue about) --Enric Naval (talk) 15:14, 19 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
(And you ought to see how it looks on 800x600, Windows 98, Internet Explorer 5, which I am using currently. It will always look bad on some or other configuration.) --Enric Naval (talk) 17:22, 19 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Stub templates on user subpage

[edit]

Hi RogoPD. I hope you don't mind that I subst'ed the stub templates on your user subpage "/T" and removed the category links; I did this so that your page doesn't turn up in a category of articles for editors to expand (only articles are supposed to be stubs). Grutness...wha? 01:25, 19 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi R~,

[edit]

In ersterer hattest Du einen unfertigen Satz hinterlassen, "[...Bernard used to date his letters.] If not dated, the.

I've moved it on the Norwegian wiki to the proper title. You can edit other language wikis just the same as the English one. Is your global account enabled? Click on "my preferences" at the top of the page and you should see your global account status. That lets you have the same user name automatically on the different language wikis. A tag has been placed on Antoine de La Rochefoucauld, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing no content to the reader. Please note that external links, "See also" section, book reference, category tag, template tag, interwiki link, rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article don't count as content. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. If you plan to expand the article, you can request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material. To do this, affix the template {{hangon}} to the page and state your intention on the article's talk page. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Clearing up some confusion

[edit]

I didn't actually delete the article I asked that it be deleted. Whoever has powers to delete articles obviously agreed with me. Postcard Cathy (talk) 16:04, 8 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on \Count Antoine de La Rochefoucauld requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, "See also" section, book reference, category tag, template tag, interwiki link, rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Van Eyck

[edit]

May I point to a misspelling in your list of important paintings? The name of Van Eyck's Canonicus is Van der Paele (not Paell!)--RPD (talk) 16:13, 13 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for that; duly changed. It's not my misspelling, I hasten to add, but that of the compilers at "Masterpiece Cards". I'll admit the list isn't without its issues, but I liked that it was based on what appears statistically most often in survey books. Ham 16:54, 13 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Nochmal Bernard, Chronologie

[edit]

Hi, schaust Du bitte mal meine diesbezüglichen Überlegungen an? Kommentar vorläufig lieber hier. Gruß, [w.] 06:03, 29 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I've put 3 refs on the talk page, but haven't time right now to put them in the article. There may be some German sources, but I don't know about that because of the language difficulty. If there are, then they are valid. See Doris Downes refs 6 and 9 for how to use foreign language refs. Ty 03:45, 1 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You were part of the group of editors who contributed over 500 edits to the WP:GAR of Vincent van Gogh. van Gogh

[edit]

Hi, I hear that you're the person to talk to about things van Gogh, having started most of the van Gogh articles. First of all, thanks! I'm a huge fan and have been having my most fun since here at WP since I started working on van Gogh. Couple of things to run by you: 1. I'm looking to start up an article of "Wheat fields" starting with his earliest pieces through to 1890 in Auvers. Please let me know if you have any thoughts or concerns about that. (For instance, I'm trying to figure out whether out whether to create an entire new artcle - or expand the specific "The Wheatfield" article. For now, I'm going to start a new article - with a "Main Article" type of link for the series of Saint-Remy paintings from his cell.) 2. Wondering if you have an special tricks for images. Right now I have only been using Wikipedia Commons - and sometimes the image (I think especially if it's not from US) shows up with a white box and red x. Any thoughts or suggestions would be most appreciated!--CaroleHenson (talk) 00:07, 31 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
