Non-free rationale for File:Dawley Court, Middlesex in 1929.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Dawley Court, Middlesex in 1929.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 01:08, 13 January 2014 (UTC)

Hey Rodolph, I found this photo on the German Wikipedia. It lacks the sufficient copyright information, so my question: Have you taken this photo? If so, can we move it to Commons in order that en.wp and de.wp don't need separate lokal copies? Thanks in advance, Yellowcard (talk) 15:04, 17 February 2014 (UTC)

[edit]- very sorry, I see now your Talk page. I'm sorry, I was so extremely upset at the removal of an ok image. It was'nt you, so I'm extra sorry, though you did assign it its death warrant. Alfred Hitchens died in 1942, (and the picture was done pre- 1923), that is over 70 years ago, so image is ok for the UK. I will put it back up but avoid USA?Rodolph (talk) 02:18, 12 March 2014 (UTC)

I am a little surprised that this image of '1860' was found in an album owned by William Andrew Salius Fane de Salis described as a 'Fane cousin.' Not only because William Andrew Salius Fane de Salis Fane's link to the Fane/Westmorland family then owning Brympton was extremely distant and tenuous, but also because the eccentric Lady Georgiana Fane was living in seclusion at Brympton and was estranged from her Fane relations. I wonder of you know anything more about it? I also note that, other than Wikipedia, members of the Fane de Salis family seem to appear only on amamteur genealogical websites. I believed that I knew of most members of the Brympton and Westmorland Fane family, this branch appear to be less well documented. Giano (talk) 17:38, 26 March 2014 (UTC)
- thanks for asking. Sure, is in his album, same album has a photo of quite nearby Wilton. William Fane de Salis & his wife's sometime residence at Teffont Evias was only 35 miles away from Brympton. William's wife, Emily, her father J. T. Mayne may have known Brympton. Or else the photos could have been taken by a third party. William was as keen on the past as the future, in that a successful business man he was also something of an appreciator of history and archives. Though albeit only a 6th cousin of the main line of Fanes, his younger brother's wife's mother was a Fane of Wormsley, so circa 3rd cousin of those Brympton d'Evercy crowd. (Vide 'De Salis' in foreign titles sections of the Burke's & Debrett's Peerages, and in Burke's Irish Family Records, and 'Fane de Salis' in Burke's Landed Gentry. See 'Viscount Fane' in the G.E.C.'s Complete Peerage, etc).Rodolph (talk) 20:18, 26 March 2014 (UTC)

[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Daily Telegraph cutting, February 2014, Peter Drummond-Murray, news re Bailiff of SMOM.jpg, which you've attributed to D. Telegraph. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.
