Wikipedia:Conflict of interest
[edit]Please see: Wikipedia:Conflict of interest
Self-promotion
Conflict of interest often presents itself in the form of self-promotion, including advertising links, personal website links, personal or semi-personal photos, or other material that appears to promote the private or commercial interests of the editor, or their associates.
Examples of these types of material include:
- . Links that appear to promote products by pointing to obscure or not particularly relevant commercial sites (commercial links).
- . Links that appear to promote otherwise obscure individuals by pointing to their personal pages.
- . Biographical material that does not significantly add to the clarity or quality of the article.

Links to blogs, personal web pages and most fansites, except those written by a recognized authority (this exception is meant to be very limited; as a minimum standard, recognized authorities always meet Wikipedia's notability criteria for biographies).
If the only contribution you are going to make are going to be link spamming, this account will be closed.

Your user name
[edit]Hi. Rodney White is the name of a well-known NBA player (I'm assuming, based on your edits, that you are aware of that). Wikipedia's username policy does not permit the use of a well-known individual's name unless you actually are that person or happen to have the same name. Is your name actually "Rodney White"? If so, in accordance with WP:REALNAME, please make that clear and make it clear that you are not the Rodney White. If your name is not "Rodney White", you are not permitted to edit with this name. Please make a request at Wikipedia:Changing username to have your user name changed. Thank you. --B (talk) 00:33, 21 February 2009 (UTC)
- Also, use of your user page to attack a specific editor is not permitted. Please remove the link to the other user's page. Lastly, adding fact tags in retaliation to a link to your own website being removed is a violation of our policy, Do not disrupt Wikipedia to illustrate a point. Thank you. --B (talk) 00:35, 21 February 2009 (UTC)
If your name is Rodney White, please add to your user page a statement that you are not the well-known Rodney White, but someone else who happens to have the same name. The reason for this requirement is, among other things, your user page will show up in google search results for the name and it needs to be clarified that you are not he. --B (talk) 03:29, 21 February 2009 (UTC)
