Blocked User
[edit]I tried to edit using my girlfriends computer and without logging in. A message came back that there is a block on IP address 24.70.95.204 for vandalism. The IP on this machine is 70.74.109.82. Why would the block affect this machine?
Thanks
Ken
- 24.70 may be the address of the proxy server your ISP uses, and 70.74 is the address it assigns to you. I have now fixed the block and you should no longer be affected. --Rodhullandemu 10:22, 22 August 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for your help.
Ken
Are there guidelines against this?

How to grant AWB access?
[edit]Greetings, Rodhullandemu. I'm a bureaucrat at Simple English Wikiquote, and someone has requested that they be granted AWB access. I see that you've been granting people access here on English Wikipedia, so you must know how to do it! Could you please tell me how? Although, I don't know whether we would have to set up a lot of complicated infrastructure for it in order to be able to grant access at Simple English Wikiquote. Thanks. ☺ Coppertwig (talk) 20:59, 22 August 2008 (UTC)
- Hmm. As far as I know, AWB is only implemented on en:Wiki for now; I just add the name to the approved list, but for the technicalities you'd be better off asking its developer, who I think is User:Reedy. --Rodhullandemu 21:07, 22 August 2008 (UTC)
- OK, I think we got it worked out. Sorry to have taken up your time: I now realize I could have found the answer either by asking the user who requested access, or by searching your contribs. The answer is that, as you know, the name of the file is Wikipedia:AutoWikiBrowser/CheckPage. Apparently there's no difficulty at all using AWB on other projects. ☺ Coppertwig (talk) 12:48, 23 August 2008 (UTC)

M&GN Joint Railway
[edit]Hi there. I notice that you have blocked me from the above page (M&GN Joint Railway). Looking at the links etc associated with the block notice, I gather I must be associated with someone who has been breaking Wiki rules. I have no idea who that might be. I have made a few corrections to the page, but quite some time ago, and I needed only to update a link to my FAQ page (change of Provider). You will note from the Bibliography that I am one of the few major sources for the subject. Is it possible to unblock me? Regards Nigel Digby (talk) 11:21, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
- Sorry, forget that! Now I'm signed in everything is working properly! I was fascinated to find out about you, though. I had no idea there were administrators, but now I think about it, of course there must be. Anyway, sorry to clutter up your discussion page.

- That's OK, anonymous editing is often blocked for vandalism but as you've discovered, it does not affect logged-in users. Let me know if there are any other problems. Cheers. --Rodhullandemu 12:31, 25 August 2008 (UTC)
Way over my head
[edit]Greetings Rodhullandemu, Just came across this one http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/Darkness_avails via my watchlist, and I gather it has been dealt with accordingly by administrators. It's way over my head, so can you give me just a couple of pointers so I can help out in future? For example, as it is obviously vandalism, or even worse, a direct attack against a person, I don't understand why it was only nominated for speedy deletion as opposed to being deleted right away. I suppose at your level of involvement at Wikipedia you must be accustomed to this sort of thing, but it's the first time I've come across such vehemence (not quite the right word, but...) and am totally out of my depth. --Technopat (talk) 11:52, 26 August 2008 (UTC)
- Well my watchlist is completely messed up. — Realist2 12:22, 26 August 2008 (UTC)
- The watchlist will sort itself out. I saw a couple of these last night and blocked trolling usernames. This is some kiddy who feels annoyed somehow by something you've done. I will look into whether a username pattern can be blocked from creation to minimise it happening again. If not, the only thing we can do is block and revert. I keep an eye on Special:New Users but have been out otherwise I'd have seen it sooner. --Rodhullandemu 12:56, 26 August 2008 (UTC)
I'm just checking that this account is yours and not someone pretending. Theresa Knott | The otter sank 22:05, 27 August 2008 (UTC)

Request for assistance
[edit]Hi. There is an issue with a user and I am sure how to present it (as far as "noticeboard" wise) or how to handle it. I am asking for your help because you have dealt with this user before. KieferSuth1985Marx is continuing to make nonconstructive edits, particularity to the Madonna tour articles (the "Setlist" sections). I understand there is no guideline as to how to present a tour running order. However, in compliance with neutral point of view, I feel that there should consistency in style of all tour article relating to that artist. KS1985M will go through each tour article and revert the setlist to the original edit that he created, without any explanation. He or she has been blocked b/c of this numerous times yet they continue to make the same mistake. I am not sure if this is a conflict of interest or if he/she is doing this just to do it? At this point, it is getting rather annoying. On his talk page [1], I asked him to stop (after myself and several other editors have reverted his edits), to which he/she responds [2]. Do I feel this user should be blocked? Yes, however, the decision is not up to me. As I've stated before, I really do not know how to handle this. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Alkclark (talk) 10:39, 31 August 2008 (UTC)
- I remember this editor, he can be tendentious, preferring his own "knowledge" to reliable sources, and has been blocked on at least two occasions for this. I've protected Sticky & Sweet Tour so editors can work out a consensus, and have book marked the article. Please let me know if there's trouble elsewhere. --Rodhullandemu 13:28, 31 August 2008 (UTC)
Odd, does this need checking out
[edit]I just added some advise and assistance to a new editor. I noticed his talk page was blank so looked at the edit hisory. This worries me a little. — Realist2 23:14, 31 August 2008 (UTC)
- I'll welcome him.--Xp54321 (Hello! • Contribs) 23:16, 31 August 2008 (UTC)
- Could be coincidence if he got caught in an autoblock, it is a floating IP, but he does edit the MJ articles. I'll keep an eye on it. Any reason he should take a dislike to you, because I blocked a bunch of these a few days ago? --Rodhullandemu 23:26, 31 August 2008 (UTC)
- I've reverted a number of his edits because they lacked sources. I reverted some a few moments ago, that's why I then went to his talk page to help him out. Was a bit supprised when I looked at his talk page history. It's a strong coincidence since he edits MJ articles aswell (remember "Realist2hasaids" gave me a lecture about not updating the King of Pop (album). I want to ashume good faith but this is just spooky. — Realist2 23:33, 31 August 2008 (UTC)
- I think we have to WP:AGF. There are significant differences in editing style, but I am mystified as to the colossal coincidence. Short of running a checkuser, which wouldn't be conclusive, because it is a floating IP, I think we just have to be aware of the possibilities. --Rodhullandemu 23:46, 31 August 2008 (UTC)
- Yeah, agree I guess, just bloody odd. — Realist2 23:51, 31 August 2008 (UTC)

deletion
[edit]Hello Rodhullandemu, I created two articles about two palestinian children were killed in the second intifada and someone put an afd template in the articles and they were deleted although only 3 users supported the deletion and 2 opposed. In Arabic wikipedia, articles are not deleted unless there is strong and reasonable support for deletion and I wonder wether this deletion is legitimate. If there is something I have to do to restore the articles plz tell me what it is because I still have no experience in english wikipedia. The articles are Iman Hijo and Mohammad Al-Bor'ey and the deletion was discussed here. Please also take a look on the articles in Category:Israeli casualties during the Al-Aqsa Intifada because I think they have similar contents to the articles I created. Thanks --Osm agha (talk) 18:36, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
- Hi, Osm, just had a look at this. The deletions look OK according to our policy since the subjects of your articles were not notable except for their tragic deaths; normally these articles would be redirected to the appropriate article about the Intifada, and these children might be mentioned there. Sorry if that's different from ar:wiki, but it's the way we do things otherwise we'd get clogged up with multiple such pages, and as long as I've been here, very few such articles have survived. Your only way to question the decision is a deletion review, but that's only intended for when the closing Admin is though to have misinterpreted consensus, and with our policy, consensus is less relevant. Sorry. --Rodhullandemu 18:47, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
If this is the policy here, the policy should be applied to all articles. I took a quick look on the article about Ayala Abukasis (which was nominated for deletion before) and I saw no differance between it and the articles I created. The Israeli-Palestinian war is a sensitive issue and english wikipedia should be aware of this conflict and it should try to be neutral: If articles about a palestinian victims were deleted, the articles about the Israeli victims must also be deleted. If this does not happen, english wikipedia will be accused of being unneutral --Osm agha (talk) 19:28, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
- Well, ideally the policy would be equally applied; the article you cite is somewhat older than yours, and as far as I can see, has never been nominated for deletion, although in policy terms it's no different from your articles. You would be free to nominate it yourself, of course, to maintain neutrality. The problem is that once you start doing things like that, it tends to snowball and people start trying to test the limits of the policy. I don't want to get into content-related debates just now, but you could try WP:PRODding the article first and see what reaction you get. --Rodhullandemu 19:36, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
- Additional: my mistake, I've just read the previous AfD. It was a mess due to a number of articles being bundled together in one discussion, and no clear consensus to delete arose because of that. Perhaps one at a time might be a better approach, because there's nothing particular in Ayala Abukasis to suggest she was notable beyond her unfortunate death and its circumstances. --Rodhullandemu 19:42, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
I have put an afd template in the article and created a new page for discussion but I do not know how to put it in today deletions, so could you review the process, plz --Osm agha (talk) 20:14, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
- Sorted. I'll leave it up to you from here. --Rodhullandemu 20:49, 1 September 2008 (UTC)

Re: AWB in Bangladeshi Wiki
[edit]Thanks Rodhullandemu for your suggestion. I downloaded the latest version. I could not find Bangla wiki (bn) on wiki and project preference. Then I downloaded the code from svn and added bn language there. It was pretty easier than I thought it would be. Now I can edit bengali articles with AWB. But, I need to test it to see how it can make my life easy. Thanks. --Maksud (talk) 13:48, 2 September 2008 (UTC)
The arabic IP shifter currently 203.59.142.159
[edit]This person has become a real pest over recent days. He has picked up several bans but simply shifts IPs and repeats his vandalism. He targets around twenty five articles and changes the subjects' name details to jokey arabic names and other stupid changes. See Sandra Bullock, Marilyn Monroe and Brigitte Bardot for examples. Can anything be done to counter IP proxy users? 21stCenturyGreenstuff (talk) 12:38, 5 September 2008 (UTC)
- Not enough IPs for a rangeblock yet, perhaps the block will get the message across, but otherwise all we can do is revert, block & ignore him. There are too many articles to protect, unfortunately. I've bookmarked the above. --Rodhullandemu 14:57, 5 September 2008 (UTC)

- The key is the word "retired". My mind is still active but I am too physically ill to do much else. Think Stephen Hawking and you'll be on the right track. In the short time I have remaining, I would like to give back some of the knowledge and experience I've been lucky enough to acquire over the years. The 1980s were an interesting decade in many ways, but all time spent productively can be useful. --Rodhullandemu 22:36, 6 September 2008 (UTC)
celin dion
[edit]I actually did. But google books and google didn't give me anything tangible. Hmm, although I just noticed this Quebec's Queen of pop marries her longtime manager. I thought it was talking about Madonna again, until I just read it. The Bookkeeper (of the Occult) 22:40, 6 September 2008 (UTC)
- Took me about half a minute to find a Google reference; perhaps right to delete, it was appallingly badly written, but hopefully I've now fixed it. Happened right in the middle of creation of obviously disruptive new accounts, so obviously a side-issue is a pressure I can live without. BTW, I Googled "Celine Dion" and "Queen of pop" as phrases- narrows the search down a little. --Rodhullandemu 22:44, 6 September 2008 (UTC)

Request for second opinion?
[edit]Hi Rod! I wrote a polite and amusing (well, I thought it was amusing) note, and my ISP lost it for me.
(Perhaps this is a blessing in disguise, because I'm now going to get to point quickly.)
I came across Divine Mafa (I won't explain the detail) and my first thought was: "this guy isn't real; this is a hoax." (See also talk:Divine Mafa). Then I found half-a-dozen entries in the Memphis media which suggested that either, he is a real person, or, this is an incredibly elaborate hoax. I guess he's real. But what I would like a second opinion on is: Is this guy notable? (Obviously, I have my doubts.) Thanks in advance, Pdfpdf (talk) 10:54, 10 September 2008 (UTC)
- His sole sourced claim to notability seems to be the founder of a clothes shop, and the sources for that are all self-serving puff pieces or his own website. There is nothing to source his academic claims, and even if there were, he would fail WP:PROF. There is nothing to source his political activism, and even if there were, so what? He is not unique, or even, it would seem, a leading figure, in opposing Mugabe. I suspect most of this is made up to promote his shops, and I see no problem WP:PRODding the article. I doubt it would survive an AFD either in its current form. Looking at the Talk page, it would seem there have already been attempts to puff this article up, to no avail. --Rodhullandemu 11:33, 10 September 2008 (UTC)

- I'm not a expert but I imagine similar images can be found on the interweb. Meanwhile, I've watchlisted the page and will weigh into an AfD if it gets there. --Rodhullandemu 12:36, 10 September 2008 (UTC)

According to Madonna official site, there are 9 dates in SA, the additional dates are Source:
- Dec 07, 2008 Buenos Aires River Plate Stadium

[edit]Hi, I found it here, albeit a slight scaled down version. Just some of the other pictures the user has recently uploaded had me suspicious as they a lot of them seem to be promo shoot pics. --Jimbo[online] 21:24, 10 September 2008 (UTC)
- Hey, I've seen you deleted a couple of the images. This one is a photoshopped version of one of the previous images. I'm just curious how you know the one with Metadata is not the uploader? Cheers, --Jimbo[online] 22:06, 10 September 2008 (UTC)
- Because there is now way "Daibh", which is Gaelic for "Dave", maps to "Simone Joyner/Getty Images". I expanded the Metadata, something I should have done earlier. A straight copyvio. --Rodhullandemu 22:09, 10 September 2008 (UTC)

What are you talking about "don't break the page"?
[edit]Breaking the page huh?
You mean that the "Stairway To Heaven" page is going to literally break apart into a thousand pieces right before my very eyes?
That is absolutey funny.
I think you have spent way too much time being at the computer or doing something else.
You should rest for a little bit, then come back when you are feeling better.

Speedy deletion of Association for Information and Image Management
[edit]Please see Wikipedia:Deletion_policy#Speedy_deletion, which states: "Anyone except a page's creator may contest the speedy deletion of a page by removing the deletion notice from the page." Of course, if you feel that Association for Information and Image Management is not notable, you can send it to Wikipedia:Articles for Deletion. Range block needed and overdue
[edit]Could you read this and the user/talk/block log of User:Jamalar and implement a range block on IP's that begin 86.25 and 86.29 . This has been going on for months now. While User:Spellcast has been very helpful he doesn't edit much at the moment to help resolve this. — Realist2 18:01, 14 September 2008 (UTC)
- Ranges are way too big to block for anything longer than hours, but User:Jamalar is indef blocked for {{sockpuppet}}; accordingly, since the latest IP is an ASSIGNED PA for Tesco broadband, I've blocked it for six months. Let me know if it surfaces again. --Rodhullandemu 18:20, 14 September 2008 (UTC)
- Thanx, this is truly annoying. One editor User:Charmed36 is always edit warring with Jamalars IP's. They edit the same articles so bump into each other all the time. Anyway, Charmed knows full well that these are Jamalars IP's yet edit wars with them instead of reporting them. If Charmed36 would be more co operative with the wider community we could flush Jamalars IP's out quicker. Instead Charmed seems to enjoy the flame wars with the IP's. I've asked Charmed to pass on the IP's to me so I can report them but he never does? — Realist2 18:27, 14 September 2008 (UTC)
- I've had a look at User:Charmed36, certainly a problem user. There's no requirement for him/her to report the IPs but all I can think of right now is to watchlist the articles where they clash & nip it in the bud as soon as we spot it. --Rodhullandemu 18:32, 14 September 2008 (UTC)
- Yes, I realize that if I watch Charmed36 edits I will catch him reverting Jamalar's IP's. I personally don't want to watchlist every article to do with Gwen Stefani or the Pussy Cat Dolls though lol. It begs the question on whether or not CHarmed36 should be blocked for edit warring with the Ip's ? I suppose he has every right to revert them since they belong to a blocked editor...— Realist2 18:41, 14 September 2008 (UTC)

Max_Mux
[edit]I wonder if you could keep a roving eye on User:Max_Mux and his floating IP sock puppets 84.134.91.187 and 84.134.83.124 who appear to hail from Braunschweig in Germany. Max appears to have taken a spiteful exception to me reverting his persistant wikilinking of dates on Jeri Ryan. I have politely pointed out the recent change of policy regarding date wikilinking and he has responded by repeatedly vandalising my talk page. He is not out of hand yet but could become a serious pest and needs an admin's eagle eye kept on him and his disruptive activities. 21stCenturyGreenstuff (talk) 19:07, 15 September 2008 (UTC)

Helter Skelter (song)
[edit]I am not clear as to how referencing a song in this case could be a copyright violation, given that Dianne Heatherington owned the recording and the tribute site is estate-endorsed (via her widowed husband, who contributes to it). Since the record has not yet been released on CD and I am linking directly to her tribute site, which in turn references the MP3, I ask that you reconsider your position here.
I don't know how to prove the release of her version of "Helter Skelter" as a single other than through the discogs.com reference. This has been tagged as "possible spamming". I don't quite understand.
Many thanks in advance for your thoughts here.
Dreadarthur (talk) 02:29, 16 September 2008 (UTC)
- Perhaps I was being over-careful with the copyright but linking to cover versions is unusual, and your link appeared to be promotional- see this policy. It would be better on Dianne Heatherington's own article. I've restored the discogs source for the reason you cite. Cheers. --Rodhullandemu 14:40, 16 September 2008 (UTC)
Many thanks for your reasoning here. Upon reflection, I agree with you that the excised link has an apparent promotional dimension and is therefore not appropriate in the list of covers on this page; thanks also for reconsidering the discogs link.

Increase in sock puppetry. Ect. And a little help....
[edit]I take it you have noticed but there seems to be a lot more trolling, a HELL of a lot more sock/meat puppetry. It is getting ridicules no? Oh and... I am finding making user boxes tough. Some help?
[edit]Hi, I know this is ridiculous, but for some reason, while I can manage posting photos on pages, the infoboxes have me baffled. I'm just trying to find somebody who can show how to place a good photo from an infobox to a different part of the page, and how to put one Into an infobox. Currently, I'm attempting to place the photo from The Rutles infobox into another page, as well. I am hoping in the section with the same name, Rutles on the Ricky Fataar article. There should be some way... I'm an idiot, it's driving me insane. Can you help? I know you're busy... ? PS-- LOVE your opening warning note here! ;) --leahtwosaints (talk) 22:44, 20 September 2008 (UTC)
- Hi, the format of an image on the page is different, it should be something like [[Image:name.jpg|thumb|right|caption]]; you can specify a size by putting in a "|180px" or whatever, but that won't work in some cases. As for the infobox, you just put "name.jpg|thumb|right|caption" (no square brackets unless you want to wikilink something in the caption). Hope that helps. --Rodhullandemu 22:52, 20 September 2008 (UTC)

Strictly Come Dancing protection
[edit]Would it be possible (under protection regulations) to protect Strictly Come Dancing, Strictly Come Dancing (Series 6) and Strictly Come Dancing (Series 6) Weekly Scores for the next few weeks? Every time SCD is on, some wise-guys (despite all our requests that they don't!) add the results from the Sunday show (which is filmed on Saturday evening) and spoil it for those of us who have to wait until Sunday to see the results show. Unfortunately, the additions are usually from IP addresses so blocking is ineffective. ~~ [Jam][talk] 14:47, 21 September 2008 (UTC)
- Oh, I wish it was possible, but it's not edit-warring or vandalism. There was also a discussion some time ago about "spoilers" such as this which concluded that we should neither delete them nor template the article. Unless you can find something in WP:PROT to justify it, sorry, I don't think I'd get away with it! --Rodhullandemu 16:13, 21 September 2008 (UTC)
- Wouldn't a better bet be to just not look at the pages until Mondays?....Just a passing thought! 21stCenturyGreenstuff (talk) 16:16, 21 September 2008 (UTC)
- Well, considering that I'm one of the editors involved in keeping an eye on those pages (I'm interested in it) then it's slightly difficult to not look. Does the fact that the results are technically unsourced (since only a handful of people will know the results, and no outside source is likely to/will post the results until the show has aired) count as grounds for protection? ~~ [Jam][talk] 16:58, 21 September 2008 (UTC)
- Persistent posting of unsourced material might be considered disruptive, that would normally lead to warnings and blocking of the IPs (assuming there aren't many of them) rather than protection. What I will do is leave a note on the Talk page advising that results not be added without a WP:RS until the show has aired, and an editor's note in each article to the same effect. I'll watchlist the articles and see how it pans out. Let's hope this is a short series. --Rodhullandemu 17:04, 21 September 2008 (UTC)
- It isn't... it's the longest so far (yay in terms of Strictly - boo in terms of spoilers on WP!) ~~ [Jam][talk] 18:16, 21 September 2008 (UTC)

the flyboys movie edits
[edit]Hi, I am curious how I can get the posts previously made to this page changed, I am working with the producer/director as assistance of Interned Media and Publicity and we are trying to provide as much information as possible for all sites that hold information on the 2008 movie THE FLYBOYS.
I have posted changes twice, and they have twice been removed, I belive the notes sited copyright issues of some sort. Please inform me how this can be resolved, and if permission from Dark Coast Pictures is needed, please let me know where that needs to be sent so we can work through this.
Thanks!
D&rpublicrelations (talk)D&R Public Relations —Preceding undated comment was added at 20:37, 22 September 2008 (UTC).
There are three issues here:
- 1. Copyright: it is not normal to allow "cut and paste" edits from a film's website unless that material is specifically released free of copyright under, say, the GFDL, and for this, there would have to be a disclaimer to that effect on the sourced website or the copyright-holder of the website would have to give specific permission by sending an email to our WP:OTRS system, the mechanics of which are explained here.
- 2. Promotion: Although Wikipedia is one of the Top Ten websites in Google, it is not intended for commercial exploitation. That is why we remove on sight websites that appear to be promoting a product; obviously on occasions there is a fine line between information and selling, and that is up to the judgement of experienced editors. In particular, the material you add should be written neutrally and without using puff words; you should also be prepared for serious criticism, provided it is reliably sourced, to be added to such articles.
- 3. Role Accounts: Your account name, strictly, is promotional and could be blocked as such. The idea of editing here, and specifically under the GFDL, is that edits are personally attributable (for better or worse), as GFDL is a personal release of intellectual effort which can only rarely be assignable to a corporate entity. I therefore invite you to nominate a named individual to conduct your edits.
- Sorry I can't be more helpful, and I am not a legal expert here, but I've tried my best to set out some basics from which you may proceed. Please get back to me if you have any questions. --Rodhullandemu 21:14, 22 September 2008 (UTC)
Wow, overkill! Surely these citation tags can be removed if there is a main article tag? — Realist2 01:07, 23 September 2008 (UTC)
- The whole article is a shed. There is no way such a broad topic can be treated as anything more than a holder for links to other articles. The reason for this is stated in its lead, but I can't imagine a similar treatment being successfully given to, say 18th century music, because nobody's that interested. Having said that, it is hideously overtagged and unreadable for it. It needs some TLC and focus, but I'm too thinly spread to do it; however, if my electricity meter lasts until tomorrow evening, I'll see if I can spare some time for it, and that's assuming I can afford to eat and have the energy. It's easy to assume that because I have an internet connection that I have everything else, but sadly, I don't right now. --Rodhullandemu 03:09, 23 September 2008 (UTC)
- I always thought wikipedia was about helping to build articles, these day's people seem more interesting in poking holes in articles with tags etc. That said I do tend to lean slightly on the deletionist side I think. I'm just of the opinion that if an article can't develop beyond a stub/start there is no limited point having it. It's surprising though, you can find a lot of info on just about any topic on the internet. Thinly spread is the same for me, there are a few GA reassessments (Jojo) and FA reassessment's (Bob Dylan) that I have promised to start/comment on. I'm moving out of home in the next few days too so it's all gunno be up in the air. I, I, I. Hope everything turns out fine. — Realist2 03:27, 23 September 2008 (UTC)

Habitual vandalisms
[edit]How long does infantile toilet and homophobic vandalism like this (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/198.108.222.3) have to go on before someone actually carries out the threatened sanction of blocking the IP for 12 months and notifying the school's computer supervisor? 21stCenturyGreenstuff (talk) 15:17, 24 September 2008 (UTC)
- Not long, in my case; thanks for bringing this to my attention. I have blocked anonymous editing for six months and notified the owner of the IP address. Hopefully the message will get across. --Rodhullandemu 15:30, 24 September 2008 (UTC)
It's all getting a little bizarre at this point
[edit]Doesn't this just say everything. — Realist2 18:33, 24 September 2008 (UTC)
- BOOM, gone, back to reality. Wouldn't be surprised, if more, cleverer ones arrive. — Realist2 12:49, 26 September 2008 (UTC)
Bowdlerise
[edit]Hi, I changed the link from bowdler to bowdlerise so that if it is ever spunoff from Thomas Bowdler the link wouldn't need changing. Was your thinking in changing it from Bowdlerise to [[Thomas Bowdler|Bowdlerise]] that we'd never need such an article? ϢereSpielChequers 22:27, 24 September 2008 (UTC)
- To my thinking, "Bowdlerise" is better off defined in Wiktionary, with a link back to Thomas Bowdler here; as far as we're concerned, I think the link should go to the appropriate section in his article. As such, I can't ever see us having a separate article bowdlerise that would add anything to his own article; it's a pretty limited concept. Hope that helps. --Rodhullandemu 22:33, 24 September 2008 (UTC)
Eden Taylor-Draper
[edit]Hello
Please can you tell me why you have blocked me writing or editing about Eden Taylor-Draper? She is my Daughter and if there are mistakes made by the information being given on this website I have usually been able to correct it. But now I am been blocked until December 21st which i am assuming is a form of being told off? Please could you explain>?
Thank you Niki Taylor-Draper —Preceding unsigned comment added by Nikiandrich (talk • contribs) 08:10, 25 September 2008 (UTC)
- I would guess that you are using Tiscali as an Internet Service Provider and a range of their addresses, including yours, has been blocked to prevent vandalism from one particular user. This is unfortunate, but can happen. Since now you have an account, editing shouldn't be a problem for you, as you have managed to edit here. Apologies for the inconvenience. I'm not sure if you are aware of our policy on conflicts of interest, since you are editing your daughter's article, but I'd ask you to take a quick look at it so you don't find yourself at odds with other editors (although I regard that as unlikely). Hope that helps. --Rodhullandemu 08:23, 25 September 2008 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free media (Image:EchoesDynamics.png)
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:EchoesDynamics.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:07, 26 September 2008 (UTC)
