Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, Rocky228, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I noticed that one of the first articles you edited was Quinn Sullivan, which appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or another editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)

In addition, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for any contribution you make, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation to comply with our terms of use and our policy on paid editing.

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}} before the question. Again, welcome! —C.Fred (talk) 19:05, 13 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

About that conflict of interest

[edit]

Greetings! I notice that you are claiming to be the photographer of File:Quinn Sullivan 2020.jpg, an image that appears to be a publicity photo and that you added to the Quinn Sullivan article.

Could you please clarify what your relationship is with Sullivan? Please note that editors who are paid to edit Wikipedia articles must disclose this per WP:PAID. —C.Fred (talk) 19:07, 13 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Editing artist page, discography section

[edit]

Rocky228,

I reverted your recent edits in Beth Hart's article, in the discography section. Since I know you have an interest and a responsibility to keep the page accurate and informative, I thought I would let you know one of the guidelines for editing musician articles. There is a whole Wikipedia guideline for musician articles, Wikipedia:WikiProject Musicians/Article guidelines. The relevant section for this discussion is Wikipedia:WikiProject Musicians/Article guidelines#Discography section. To quote some sentences in the guideline, "Musicians who have released a significant amount of work should be given their own discography articles." "he discography section of the musician's primary article should also provide a summary of the musician's major works. In most cases this is done using a simple list of their studio albums, leaving a complete listing of releases to the discography article." "Live and compilation albums, EPs, singles, etc. should generally not be included."

I don't want you to be discouraged that your edit was reverted, I just want you to understand why, as I expect to see your efforts in the future on Beth Hart's article, and I wish to avoid acrimonious conflict. Mburrell (talk) 03:50, 15 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Any chance a wiki editor will do the discography correctly? Wiki is so not my strong suit Rocky228 (talk) 00:16, 17 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Please review the discography article Beth Hart discography and tell me what is incorrect about the discography listing. I can try and fix whatever issues you see, but to me it looks like the discography has been done correctly. If you are asking if the discography listing at Beth Hart#Discography will be corrected, it also looks correct to me per the guidelines provided, Wikipedia:WikiProject Musicians/Article guidelines#Discography section.
I understand that Wikipedia might not be your strong suit, but I just want to state that there are a large variety of guidelines for various articles. I am not familiar with all the guidelines myself, but when I do find a relevant guideline, I try to remember it, and in this case, I provided a link to you so that you could see what it is stating as well. Think of the guidelines as an operating manual, just like the manuals put out by your camera manufacturer or your washing machine manufacturer. Just read the sections that apply to the action you want to take. Finding them could be a challenge, but that is why other editors would be glad to point them out as needed. - Mburrell (talk) 23:05, 17 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Mburrell,
Thanks for your help. So sorry I didn't see this message sooner. Rocky228 (talk) 16:42, 27 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
