Notability of Joinin2

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Joinin2 requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Bonadea (talk) 08:44, 17 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

explanation

[edit]

As reviewing administrator, I deleted it on the basis that it was web content that gave no indication whatsoever of why it might be considered notable. There were no references whatsoever that anyone not connected with the group has ever noticed it. If I undeleted it and sent it to Afd, there is essentially no chance at all that it would be accepted. You need to show, with 3rd party independent reliable published sources, print or online (but not blogs or press releases) that it is considered notable or important or significant. One way of doing it is with membership or usage figures, but they have to be published in some reliable way--and the standard for keeping an article where that is the only indication of notability is rather high. I do not make the standards here (though in this case I do agree with them), I just carry out the operations to enforce the standards set by the community. (and I see 2 other admin have previously deleted it. the information added since then is just your own home page and the now inaccessible page of the former site -- those do not count as 3rd party independent sources.). We cannot serve as a vehicle for publicity to get your site popular--it has to be a major site first, and then if people write about it there can be an article.
