iRobot pages

Hi

I have just been reviewing the iRobot pages as part of the Robotics project clean-ups and tagging.

I noticed that some of the pages contained material that may have been seen as advertising, such as "sold so xxx units" as well as words which were verging on puffery and peacocking.

I have had to slightly adapt some of the headers as well as AUV and UUV are terms which are not mutually exclusive. Where robotic systems are used by the military and in civilian applications the term AUV and UUV should both be shown. As the military does not use the terms to distinguish between AUV and UUV the AUV should take precedence as the military term is not accurate. In a military application the term UUV should be used first, except where a majority of military users uses AUV. Here the term AUV should also be used as an incidental.

The Looj intrigues me, as well as needing a more defined terminology on its page here. I cannot think exactly what it is, it is a a remotely controlled gutter cleaner, but which category of robotic device is it?. Unfortunately I cannot get to any pages on the iRobot sites that show the Looj. Any reason for this? It is obviously a Domestic robot when used on domestic residences, but if used on a military base or a warehouse it would not necessarily fit into the current definition. For now I will use the domestic robot until such time as something more appropriate can be suggested?

Any chance of some photos for those of the iRobot pages which do not have them?

Thanks for your work so far, and best wishes to the company - I think they are doing a marvellous job so far. I particularly like the idea of the AGV's such as the R-gator, although I hope the company stays clear of the EATR philosophy! Chaosdruid (talk) 19:26, 13 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
