IamNotU (talk) 20:02, 25 April 2020 (UTC) The Dominican Republic is a different world than Cuba is and that is because the two country's history developed differently. In the Dominican Republic Black Africans were introduced from the very beginning of their colonization which was led by Columbus's brother and of course Cristopher Columbus. By the time the colonization of Cuba was begun by Diego Velasquez in 1511 the indigenous population of Hispaniola way in essence near their end (phasing away). Already Dominicans were pretty much mulatos from there on thousands of blacks were introduced thus Dominicans were seeing themselves incrisingly as blacks. Cuba was for the most part Indigenous(Amerindians) and mestizo (spanish/europeans and Amerindiam mixture) with lesser Amerindian/black (zambos) mixture. Blacks arrived relatively late not until the invation of Havana by the British and then early 19th century when a larger black population arrived which included women as well although in lesser amounts. Then also in the nineteenth and twentieth century whites continued to arrive in droves families as well as men alone. So here is the reason why Dominicans and Cubans re quite different. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:442:C380:A0F0:C58B:3EC:FDF9:59EA (talk) 04:10, 6 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
