The "archive1" suffix is proper naming for the Featured article review subpage. Please do not move it to "Wikipedia:Featured article review/ARTICLENAME", as you did with Wikipedia:Featured article review/H II region/archive1. Kimchi.sg (talk) 10:52, 19 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. We have a listing at the copyright problem board, Wikipedia:Copyright problems/2009 September 15, expressing concern about our article Security Operation Center (computing). Evidently, this was a translation of the Italian article, but our tagger noted that our article predates that one. Looking at Italian log, here, suggests that's because the Italian was deleted several times for copyvio. The tagger believes our article may infringe on [1], which seems plausible from that log. I am, however, unable to read Italian and in need of assistance from a contributor who can. :) Since you (a) read Italian and are able to review deleted versions of that article, (b) edit on en-Wiki, and (c) do copyright work, you seemed like a natural to ask. Can you compare the article with the deleted Italian versions and/or the source to see if this article is a copyright infringement? Dropping by unasked, I certainly understand if you don't have time. If you don't, I'll look for somebody else, though I doubt I will find anybody who fits the bill as well as you do. :D Thank you for any clarification you can provide. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 19:14, 23 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please put the removed file back AT ONCE - this removal is total vandalism ruining a sincerely and carefully explained entry. It does the Wiki community no credit to have this sort of high handed STUPIDITY when I have worked so hard to do justice to a subject.Tony in Devon (talk) 21:13, 3 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

If you have helped - sorry - I think you were - it's just so difficult to sort these Wiki licences - my sincere thanks. I do appreciate that. Something is wrong or too complicated with the system that this got into such a tangle. I did everything I could re licences - and there was no doubt about the copyright holder's willingness - I made a point of talking to him face-to-face when we were both at a meeting celebrating the work of the deceased and much-loved Aeronwy Thomas and he sent me the image knowing how it would be used. Unfortunately the system or other admin person didn't cope with my explanations. Last night I really did feel like deleting all my own photos on Wiki and concentrating on my own new website! So thanks - I'm trying to control my breathing.Tony in Devon (talk) 19:45, 4 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, but I don't have access to the WP:OTRS ticket system, you'll have to contact someone on their page for confirmation/placement of the ticket. Skier Dude (talk) 03:17, 26 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Robert. Thanks for your help here but this OTRS release says "all commercial use of this work remain prohibited". However to be considered a free license here "the license must permit both commercial reuse and derivative works" (Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Guidelines, first bullet point). The second OTRS release has the same problem. Angus McLellan (Talk) 12:28, 29 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I share Angus McLellan's opinino, [2] clearly does not release the images as both commercial and derivative works. The follow-up, however, [3] appears that it might be CC-w/attribution friendly. Skier Dude (talk) 02:21, 31 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Aeronwy.jpg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Aeronwy.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 09:12, 2 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Dear uploader: The media file you uploaded as File:Aeronwy.jpg has been listed for speedy deletion because you selected a copyright license type implying some type of restricted use, such as for non-commercial use only, or for educational use only or for use on Wikipedia by permission. While it might seem reasonable to assume that such files can be freely used on Wikipedia, this is in fact not the case[4][5]. Please do not upload any more files with these restrictions on them, because images on Wikipedia need to be compatible with the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike or another free license, which allow anyone to use it for any purpose, commercial or non-commercial. In certain limited cases, we may be able to use an image under a claim of fair use - if you are certain that fair use would apply here, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list. If no fair use rationale applies, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.

If you have any questions please ask at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you. Acather96 (talk) 19:44, 13 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Credo Reference Update & Survey (your opinion requested)

[edit]

Credo Reference, who generously donated 400 free Credo 250 research accounts to Wikipedia editors over the past two years, has offered to expand the program to include 100 additional reference resources. Credo wants Wikipedia editors to select which resources they want most. So, we put together a quick survey to do that:

It also asks some basic questions about what you like about the Credo program and what you might want to improve.

At this time only the initial 400 editors have accounts, but even if you do not have an account, you still might want to weigh in on which resources would be most valuable for the community (for example, through WikiProject Resource Exchange).

Also, if you have an account but no longer want to use it, please leave me a note so another editor can take your spot.

If you have any other questions or comments, drop by my talk page or email me at wikiocaasi@yahoo.com. Cheers! Ocaasi t | c 17:30, 11 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Roberto, just saw your message at my talk page. I'm discussing the matter of those images and their use in the english WP at the help desk. Would you be so kind as to give your input over there? I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to copyrights and such. Thanks for your help! Regards Gaba p (talk) 14:22, 19 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the directions Roberto. I'm trying to figure out what I should do to be able to use those images here. Hopefully the guys over at the help desk can tell me what the appropriate steps are. Regards. Gaba p (talk) 15:09, 19 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Ciao Roberto, could I bother you with a quick translation question? How would the correct english version look like? This is what I could come up with: "Each one of these clouds has internal infrared sources, coincident with the same number of protostars", but it doesn't sound quite right to me. Any help will be much appreciated. Regards. Gaba p (talk) 20:03, 23 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I need your help

[edit]

Hello!

I faced a problem in Italian Wikipedia. One administrator has blocked me without any reasonable grounds. I tried to write on your discussion page in Italian Wikipedia, but my message was erased by another user. The text of that message is below:

"Voglio sporgere denuncia contro Mastrocom.

Please reply here because I have possibility to communicate in Italian Wikipedia no more. K8M8S8 (talk) 16:08, 27 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
