Australian proposed flags

[edit]

Hi there! I see you've added your own flag designs to the list of Australian flags. Have your designs been posted somewhere else other than Wikipedia? If so, please do provide the sources, as per WP:OR. If they are published somewhere else, I am more than happy to vectorise these designs for you. Hi Nik! Thank you for offering to vectorise the flag designs. That would be great. I have added details of prior publications. Two are registered with IP Australia and all three have been published on my website. My website has also been copied to the National Archives in Canberra. So these designs have been previously published. Thank you for your help! RobertVose (talk) 01:24, 5 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Just add the link to one of them in <ref> tags on the new proposed flags article as I have done for the others. Either the National Archives or IP Australia (both secondary sources as opposed to your own website) would be ideal. Add both if you like!
Is there any particular constructional accuracy I need to worry about regarding your designs? If I recall when I saw these before, the circle top-left should be drawn as if there was aboriginal flag with the fly edge through the topmost star, is that right? If I've made any errors, please do let me know. It should be correct within a reasonable level of precision. I haven't done the versions with the arms yet as the vector version of those is rather poor and could do with a lot of editing. I'll look into that at a later date. Oh, and if you want to edit the licensing, feel free to. I used the one you used on your JPGs which is the default one for uploads, so if you wanted a different one, either edit it yourself or let me know. NikNaks talk - gallery 15:15, 5 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you Nik for vectorising the flag designs. I think they look good - especially the blue and gold one. I have also uploaded the flag design image. I have not included it in the list of proposed flags because it shows the underlying design, but it should be in the relevant category.

There are also a couple of designs with the Coat of Arms. It might be worth redoing these designs with the an image of the full Arms. After sending an inquiry a few years ago, I received a letter in reply from the Prime Minister's office requesting that I not display the Coat of Arms on the flag design - as only the Commonwealth has the right to display the Coat of Arms. But with the Arms grayed out the image is still legal. This was a while ago. Also, The people at IP Australia didn't seem too impressed with the COA supporters on a flag design - they stuck their Design Number sticker on the flag and scanned it sideways! Do you think these flags warrant a new page on Wikipedia where I can show all the images together? Thank you for your help with the images. RobertVose (talk) 01:13, 6 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

As I mentioned, the vectorised CoA is not up to scratch, so I won't be making a vector image with those on. You also don't seem to have added your links in <ref> tags on the new proposed flags article as I asked. If you could do that, it would be much appreciated.
Hi Nik, I added the references for the flag designs on the article. Yesterday I added the references to the upload file details. I hope it is okay now. RobertVose (talk) 11:43, 6 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I take it you are happy with the licensing, then? NikNaks talk - gallery 09:38, 6 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
The general default licensing should be okay. As long as people cite me or the generic flag name for flags based on the design. RobertVose (talk) 11:43, 6 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
