Welcome to Wikipedia. Because we have a policy against usernames which give the impression that the account represents a group, organization or website, I have blocked this account; please take a moment to create a new account with a username that represents only yourself as an individual and which complies with our username policy or request a change of username.

You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and be aware that promotional editing is not acceptable regardless of the username you choose. Additionally, if your contributions to Wikipedia form all or part of work for which you are, or expect to be, paid, you must disclose who is paying you to edit.

Please also note that you are permitted to use a username that contains the name of a company or organization if it identifies you individually, such as "Sara Smith at XYZ Company", "Mark at WidgetsUSA", or "FoobarFan87".

If your username does not represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page.

You may simply create a new account, but you may prefer to change your username to one that complies with our username policy, so that your past contributions are associated with your new username. If you would prefer to change your username, you may appeal this username block by adding the text

{{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}

at the bottom of your talk page. Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use, so please check here for a listing of already taken names.

 Thank you. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 19:34, 22 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

Not an organisation it’s the only username I could use cause you don’t let us have half the ones we choose JubilantfmUK (talk) 20:43, 28 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

You say you aren't an organization, but you edited about Jubilant FM, a UK online radio station. Your user page is not article space, but a place to tell about yourself as a Wikipedia editor or user. Please propose a new username per the instructiosn above, or you may also create a new account with a compliant username- however, if you intend to edit further about your radio station, please review conflict of interest. 331dot (talk) 21:32, 28 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

User talk pages aren't deleted. 331dot (talk) 21:32, 28 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

How do I change username please? JubilantfmUK (talk) 21:37, 28 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Please follow the instructions in the block notice to propose a new username; or you may just create a new account. As I said, you will need to review conflict of interest. 331dot (talk) 21:53, 28 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Okay I’ve followed it I did the global username thing and changed it’s awaiting approval thanks JubilantfmUK (talk) 21:55, 28 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

That's not what I said, but okay. You'll still need to request unblock after the change. 331dot (talk) 22:54, 28 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Rename from "JubilantfmUK" to "RobLee931108"

Rename from "JubilantfmUK" to "RobLee931108" --Deepfriedokra (talk) 22:00, 2 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Unblock deferred per talk. @ToBeFree: --Deepfriedokra (talk) 22:02, 2 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Deepfriedokra, no concerns from my side – I'd have hardblocked else. :) Unblocked with the words of caution below. That means, unblocked in the hope of RobLee931108 not continuing to edit about topics they have a conflict of interest in. It's not a strict requirement, but the best advice I can give here is "don't do it, you're not doing yourself a favor, and if you disagree, you do not yet understand WP:COI". ~ ToBeFree (talk) 22:53, 2 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Managing a conflict of interest

[edit]

Information icon Hello, RobLee931108. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 22:51, 2 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I see ok so thanks for helping with this. May I tell you I was trying to create a Wikipedia page about my radio station brand but obviously did it very wrong and this is why I ended up here. For a registered legal business am I able to create a Wikipedia page if so how? Thanks. I realised my user page is separate from a wiki page that’s what I first didn’t realise but I do now RobLee931108 (talk) 08:22, 3 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

The mere existence of a business does not merit that business a Wikipedia article, whether or not it is registered. First, please note that Wikipedia is not interested in what a business wants to say about itself, only in what independent reliable sources with significant coverage have chosen on their own to say about it, showing how it meets the special Wikipedia definition of a notable business. "Significant coverage" does not include press releases, staff interviews, announcements of routine business activity, brief mentions, or other primary sources
As you have a conflict of interest, you should use Articles for Creation to create and submit a draft for review by independent editors. In order for you to be successful, you need to forget everything you know about your brand, everything on its website, and everything it says about itself, and only write based on the content of independent sources with significant coverage. Though technically possible, it is very difficult for people in your position to do that.
If you are an employee of the business, you must declare as a paid editor. If you are the owner, that isn't necessary, but you should still be familiar with WP:COI. 331dot (talk) 12:47, 3 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
