KBKO
The format change probably won't happen until mid-August sometime, or after that, that's when Lotus Communications should take over KBKO. When the format change happens and I have any problems, I'll let you know. I'll check the FCC site to see if they have updated it, when the format change happens. If the new call letters won't let me move it, when it happens, I'll let you know so we can get the page up-to-date. KDFO is already done. There's no more changes for that station, unless Clear Channel Communications change the format of KDFO, which hopefully they won't, because KDFO is the only classic rock station in Bakersfield. I won't hessitate, if I need help fixing KBKO, when the format change happens. Thanks.--JoeCool950 (talk) 20:48, 9 July 2008 (UTC)
WikiProject Baseball Newsletter
The Baseball WikiProject Newsletter Issue I – July 2008 | |
This month's newsletter was designed and written by Wizardman, jj137, and Blackngold29. If you would like to contribute to future newsletters, please contact the Baseball WP outreach dept. |
Baseball has a history unlike any other sport. It has been played in countless countries throughout the decades, and it will undoubtedly continue play for many more. On this eve, some the finest players the sport has to offer will take the field at the Yankee Stadium. Four popes spoke there, Pelé scored goals there, "The Greatest [football] Game Ever Played" was battled out there, John Philip Sousa lead a band there, George Costanza worked there; but what do all these events have in common? They fail to reach the level of greatness that the baseball that was played there did. In 1923, a man named Babe Ruth decided to build a new house, and over the years, that house was a home to some of the greatest baseball ever played. If I were to list out all of these great moments, it would be longer than the bill for the New Yankee Stadium. So I'll sum it up by saying that we can remember these great moments by adding them to this place we've gathered at for future generations to read about, to learn about, to dream about; but more importantly we can watch tonight and we can remember how baseball is unlike anything else that we will encounter in our lives. — Blackngold29 |

KBKO-FM changing this week
Just wanted to let you know that KBKO-FM is changing this week. I put some stuff on the page, so that people reading it know that the station is changing formats and ownership. I put a message from the Program Director/Operations Manager on the page. I'll take that off Tuesday when I'm home from work after noon pacific time. Just wanted to let you know. I'll check the FCC History to see if they're using the new call letters when I fix the page up. If so and I have any problems changing it or moving the page then, I'll let you know. Just giving you the heads up it will be this week June 28-August 1 that we'll have to fix it up. It's good for the time being. --JoeCool950 (talk) 20:37, 26 July 2008 (UTC)
KBKO now at Lotus
Just wanted to let you know that Clear Channel has offically sold KBKO-FM over to Lotus Communications. The format is unknown. You can look at the KBKO-FM page to see what they're doing. The new owners are doing something called "stunting" before the new format is revealed. I put something about them doing the "stunting," but might take that out, since that mentions it below. I read something that the new format could be classic rock. Will find out for sure if it's classic rock on Tuesday, August 5, 2008. Call letters for now are KBKO and FCC still have it as KBKO-FM so no need to move the page, until FCC call letters change. Just wanted to let you know what was up. --JoeCool950 (talk) 23:51, 31 July 2008 (UTC)
link to stunting
Rob, Thanks for the link for stunting on the KBKO-FM page. Don't know now if KBKO-FM has any sister stations. Bakersfield does have a Lotus Communications but all those stations are Bakersfield Lotus Corp. and KBKO-FM, the licensee for that is Texas Lotus Corp. I won't put in those other stations as sister stations, just to be on the safe side, because the new owners could have KBKO in a different building. If the phone number for the main office of KBKO is the same as the other stations listed as Bakersfield Lotus Corp., then I'll put them in as sister stations. Just to be on the safe side. --JoeCool950 (talk)23:55, 1 August 2008 (UTC)
Reference for KBKO-FM
Rob, You'll have to read the reference #5 for KBKO-FM. They have this freaky computer countdown going on revealing when the new format will start. It says that they had the FBI investigating. Scary, but funny listeners thought someone was attacking the station with the countdown going on. First time hearing that on Bakersfield radio, I think that's why. Thought you'd like to read it though.--JoeCool950 (talk) 18:50, 2 August 2008 (UTC)
YEAH, calls still KBKO
The new format is now revealed on KBKO-FM. Wanted to let you know that we don't need to move the page as of right now. The new owners are using the KBKO call letters and FCC still has it as KBKO-FM, so just wanted to let you know. The station is though, branded as 96-5 Max FM. Might run jockless now, or no disc jockey. They do have a website, but it's not up yet. The website I have on the page is the website for the station, according to radiosight, the reference I have up about the station. Just wanted to give you the update.--JoeCool950 (talk) 20:05, 5 August 2008 (UTC)
KBKO-FM call letters changing
Rob, I just wanted to let you know that I just read that the KBKO-FM call letters could be changed to KVMX and in use on Monday, August 11, 2008, pending FCC approval. [1] Thought I'd let you know, so that we can both watch the FCC website for the approval. If I hear the radio station using it next week, I'll change it on the page, but not move it, or try, until I see it offically. If I have any trouble, I'll let you know. Keep checking though, in case you can move the page to the new call letters. Thanks. --JoeCool950 (talk) 03:13, 6 August 2008 (UTC)
KBKO-FM page
Rob, Need to start watching the KBKO-FM page because under the (call-sign history) it states that KVMX is in use 8/13/08. The station itself for the ID still says (KBKO/Bakersfield), probably won't say KVMX until the FCC page is updated, but wanted to give you a heads up to start watching that page and once the FCC page updates it, go ahead and have the KBKO-FM page moved to KVMX. Thanks. I've already put KVMX on the page stating that it's KVMX, just the page itself needs to be moved to KVMX. Thanks. KVMX is still under KBKO-FM. I do know that there use to be a station that used the KVMX call letters, but don't anymore. Just giving you the heads up that the KBKO-FM page itself will need to be moved to KVMX. Already have it saying that it's KVMX though. Thanks. Sorry to repeat some of the stuff I've stated, just want to update you on what the KBKO-FM page says, since it needs to be moved to KVMX soon. If you'll watch it, that will be cool. To click on the page itself, just need to click on KVMX now instead of KBKO and it will take you to the KBKO-FM page. And reaplaced KBKO-FM there at the beginning with KVMX and for the infopage, put KVMX on the top there. Just need to eventually move the page. Thanks.--JoeCool950 (talk) 22:10, 14 August 2008 (UTC)
Rob, Don't need to worry about moving KBKO-FM. Check out the page. It's already been moved to KVMX. Nancy, who is an administrator moved the page, so you don't have to worry about moving it. The station is now offically using KVMX as its call letters also.--JoeCool950 (talk) 00:25, 16 August 2008 (UTC)
Would you be able to get Nancy to do the same kind of move for KBKO (AM), since that's the only KBKO now. Thanks.--JoeCool950 (talk) 00:33, 16 August 2008 (UTC)
- I don't personally know Nancy, she just happened to be monitoring the speedy delete request page and took care of our move. Please read my comment on how to handle KBKO (AM), I personally feel we should keep KBKO a disambiguate page pointing to the former KBKO-FM. We generally handle it that way, you gotta keep in mind that people will still type KBKO looking for the old station and might not know how to get to the recently moved article (they may not even be aware of the call sign change, the average Joe doesn't pay attention and would still think it's KBKO). RobDe68 (talk) 00:41, 16 August 2008 (UTC)
I put a pointer in for KBKO-FM, kind of like the pointer that's on the new KVMX page stating for KBKO-FM see KVMX. That should be on there for people that do type KBKO not thinking KBKO-FM and KBKO (AM) are entirely two different stations. That way, they'll know where to go to get the page for KBKO-FM. You can look at it and let me know if that works. Me and Latics sent Nancy a message to see if she can make a similar move like she did for KBKO-FM to KVMX, and then the pointer to KBKO-FM is on the KBKO page. Hopefully that will work for the time being. --JoeCool950 (talk) 00:52, 16 August 2008 (UTC)
- If you insist on moving the page and losing the disambiguate page (I really think we should keep it for some time until people get used to the new call sign). Then the proper thing to do is put the pointer on the original KBKO (AM) article and I'll tag the KBKO page for speedy delete for page move. Otherwise you may be waiting awhile for a move. I'll go ahead and do that. RobDe68 (talk) 00:57, 16 August 2008 (UTC)
Look at the KBKO link to let me know if this is what you meant. If so, lets do what you suggested, leave it like the way it is now, and then later properly put the pointer on the original KBKO (AM) and you can tag the KBKO page later on down the road for speedy delete for the page move. Thanks Rob. --JoeCool950 (talk) 01:06, 16 August 2008 (UTC)
- It's ok, I'm gonna make a slight adjustment to keep it consistent with other disambiguate pages. RobDe68 (talk) 01:09, 16 August 2008 (UTC)
Looks better
KBKO looks better. You can see what me and someone with the user name Lotics did. I sent him a message to let him know how that page should be for the time being and that it's being taking care of eventully for KBKO and KBKO (AM). Now people that just type in KBKO will know about 96.5 FM being KVMX. Maybe about a month or two, or whenever you feel people are comfortable with KBKO-FM being KVMX, then we can make that move for KBKO and KBKO (AM). The page for KBKO (AM) is still on KBKO (AM) for that. --JoeCool950 (talk) 01:16, 16 August 2008 (UTC)
Question
I was just wondering how long you think we should leave KBKO as an disambiguate page, before having them move KBKO (AM) over to KBKO with a pointer for KBKO-FM? My guess is maybe a month from now doing that, just wanted to see what you thought about when we should put that in for a speedy delete for page move? Let me know. Nancy wrote back and said how to put that in. Between you and I we can get the move in, just wanted to see if we should wait for a month before putting it in, or two months. Let me know. Thanks. --JoeCool950 (talk) 05:14, 18 August 2008 (UTC)==KVMX== Rob, KVMX in Bakersfield, according to the Query Arbitron's FM station database says it's a classic hits station, but if you go to www.lotuscorp.com, it has it listed as classic rock. I did though, where it says classic rock did classic rock. Let me know what we can do. Might want to put it in as a classic hits station instead. Just thought I'd let you know what I checked out.--JoeCool950 (talk) 06:21, 14 September 2008 (UTC)
KVMX Classic Hits, not Classic Rock
I've made the change for KVMX. They are actually more of a Classic Hits format not a Classic Rock format. Classic Hits is pretty close to Classic Rock, so easy to get the two confused, but I made the switch and took off KVMX, on the Classic Rock page. Just wanted to let you know. --JoeCool950 (talk) 21:22, 14 September 2008 (UTC)
Notability of KAPW
A tag has been placed on KAPW requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.
If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.
For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Dmwiki (talk) 04:38, 16 September 2008 (UTC)

Look at KVMX
Rob, Look at KVMX and if the branding that someone changed in the intro looks o.k., then let me know, but if it needs to be ittalized, then ittalized it and let me know, or write back letting me know please. Dravecky changed it and made a bunch of edits. Please just review his edits and make sure it looks o.k. how he has it.--JoeCool950 (talk) 16:41, 8 October 2008 (UTC)
Would you mind looking at KLLY under the edit I did. It regards the introduction for KLLY. According to WP: WPRS, where it says the branding "Kelly 95.3" how WP: WPRS has it shows that it doesn't need to be ittalized. Just wanted your intake.--JoeCool950 (talk) 02:48, 9 October 2008 (UTC)
I had a time with the KUZZ log on the page, now if I would have used my Sandbox, I could have gotten it just right and copied and pasted it on the page. Go ahead, tell me you told me so. I did put my sandbox on my user page.--JoeCool950 (talk) 06:58, 10 October 2008 (UTC)
Just Need Opinion
I was just wondering, would it be smart of me to make an archive box on my talk page, so that all of my old messages are saved on there? If so, I'm going to put one on my talk page when I get the chance. I'm going to pull up all of my old messages from my history and put them on there, so that I've got them. Just wanted to check though. I might just do it, to be on the safe side, but just wanted someones opinion. By the way, I'll respect whatever opinion you give.--JoeCool950 (talk) 06:37, 11 October 2008 (UTC)
==Fixed up my Talk Page
I fixed up my talk page. My archive box is similar to yours, but liked yours the best. I figured might as well have one, because not good to blank talk page, but needed start an archive box of all my old messages. Let me know if my talk page looks better.--JoeCool950 (talk) 07:59, 11 October 2008 (UTC)
WAVF/WKZQ frequency swap
These stations have indeed swapped frequencies (101.7 is now bradcasting in Hanahan, while 96.1 is now in Forest Brook/Myrtle Beach. Therefore, because these stations are currently operating at the new frequencies (whether they have a license to cover by the FCC or are still broadcasting on the Construction Permit), I will revert the changes back to the accurate picture of Charleston radio, with WAVF (formerly WKZQ/Myrtle Beach) at 101.7 in Charleston and WKZQ (formerly WAVF/Hanahan) at 96.1 in Charleston. I will, however, leave the vacated frequency in each market up for awhile until this whole thing is done with the sign on of 95.9 in Isle of Palms, SC.
