What happened here?

Why did you duplicate the article on the talk page? Talk:José António Duro -- œ 09:57, 2 September 2010 (UTC)

There is this rare bug in AWB or the MediaWiki API that causes it: Wikipedia_talk:AutoWikiBrowser/Bugs#Page_blanking_still_.28or_againily.29_occurring. It used to interfere with talk pages, that's now fixed, page blanking can still occur, though fortunately very rarely (less than 1 in 100,000 for sure). Rjwilmsi 10:45, 2 September 2010 (UTC)

MARC MYSTERIO VS. BRANDY NORWOOD LAW SUIT

Why isn't this mentioned on her page or his page Brandy Norwood?Marc Mysterio sued Brandy for breach of contract for failing to send him 2 verses and vocal files for his song Shout It Out Cite error: A <ref> tag is missing the closing </ref> (see the help page).</ref>http://www.tmz.com/2010/08/20/dj-sues-brandy-im-huge-in-scandanavia-dj-marc-mysterio/</ref></ref>http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-504083_162-20014376-504083.html</ref> —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.232.84.228 (talk) 04:33, 5 September 2010 (UTC)

Your bot's inclusion of location data for The Times

Hi, This [diff] causes consternation. The Times is a singular appellation for the name of the newspaper published in London. It does not require the addition of location data to clarify it. All other newspapers incidentally called The Times may require such location data, to differentiate them from The Times. Could you change the behaviour of your bot to reflect this practice? Fifelfoo (talk) 13:53, 8 September 2010 (UTC)

No, bot's behaviour follows the template documentation. Location is needed since, for example, for Wikipedia readers in Los Angeles or New York, The Times means The LA Times or NY Times and not The Times in London as it would for UK/European readers. Rjwilmsi 14:31, 8 September 2010 (UTC)
I disagree utterly with your defence of the Template's current documentation, but thank you kindly for directing me to the policy directing your bot's actions, and will take the matter up there. Thanks! Fifelfoo (talk) 14:35, 8 September 2010 (UTC)

References being moved into Persondata

Just wanted to let you know [1] [2] [3] that when the Bot is filing out persondata, if there is a reference with the information in the infobox then that reference is copied to the persondata. And because persondata is below the reference section, it causes a cite error. ClamDip (talk) 08:59, 9 September 2010 (UTC)

rev 7106 Now fixed the logic. Thanks Rjwilmsi 17:49, 11 September 2010 (UTC)

Personendaten

You will be surpiced but there is a {{Personendaten}} with 112 transclusions. I encountered a case where AWB added PERSONDATA under it. If it is possible make a run to rename Personendaten with PERSONDATA and rename its parameters from German to English!! -- Magioladitis (talk) 10:51, 9 September 2010 (UTC)

I did them. I am sending this redirect for RfD. -- Magioladitis (talk) 11:58, 11 September 2010 (UTC)

In context to editing the article on Allopathy

I had made some major changes in the article Allopathic medicine. The changes had been reverted probably deeming it as an act of vandalism. You had made some changes thereafter. I have reintroduced the changes. I would be glad if you can revisit the article and discuss about the changes that I have made. DiptanshuTalk 19:36, 11 September 2010 (UTC)

Rjwilmsi, Would you please use AWB to clean this one up. Thanks for doing Barber's pole. Happy editing. 7&6=thirteen (talk) 19:58, 13 September 2010 (UTC) Stan

AWB

Hello, have a problem like this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:AutoWikiBrowser/Bugs/Archive_15#Article_names_with_three_or_more_words.

Site is http://www.galodigital.com.br, Please help me? Thanks Higor Douglas (talk) 17:17, 14 September 2010 (UTC)

Please be more careful in the future

When changing page ranges please be more careful in the future. As the note say right next to the range, this is not a range. Wizard191 (talk) 16:26, 20 September 2010 (UTC)

I've switched it to a non-breaking hyphen so bots know it's not a hyphen within a range. Rjwilmsi 17:06, 20 September 2010 (UTC)
How do I put one of these in, for future reference? Wizard191 (talk) 17:17, 20 September 2010 (UTC)
I copy the character from the hyphen article. Rjwilmsi 17:18, 20 September 2010 (UTC)

Just a note to say I modified an edit by your bot to the above article. I think Black Dog is the name of a column in the Mail rather than an actual person, so I've changed the parameter from first/last= to author=. Should be ok now. Cheers TheRetroGuy (talk) 18:15, 25 September 2010 (UTC)

Okay, the problem is that "Black Dog" is displayed like an author on the daily mail website, I'll probably have to add an exception. Rjwilmsi 18:31, 25 September 2010 (UTC)

Minor note

Just a minor note: your bot made the following change, [4], which added the title to a ref, but when it did that it inserted a hard HTML break into the title. I'm assuming this came over from the source that it was analyzing, but is there any way for you to strip that when you insert it into the citation? Wizard191 (talk) 23:41, 25 September 2010 (UTC)

Yes, that's done. I found and corrected two other occurrences. Rjwilmsi 07:12, 26 September 2010 (UTC)
Awesome! Thanks! Wizard191 (talk) 13:03, 26 September 2010 (UTC)

Rootkit

Hello. Curious why you replaced the citation templates with journal templates for references that are not journals? Thanks. Socrates2008 (Talk) 12:21, 27 September 2010 (UTC)

AWB has a recent tidy-up feature to allow template redirects to be bypassed while performing other edits. In this example {{cite paper}}, which redirects to {{cite journal}} was replaced with {{cite journal}}, to no immediate consequence. Of course if you reckon another template is more appropriate then go ahead and change the cites. Rjwilmsi 13:12, 27 September 2010 (UTC)

edits to Royal Dutch Shell environmental issues using AWB

Hi. I noticed you made some edits to Royal Dutch Shell environmental issues.. In fact that page shouldn't be edited as it is currently tagged with a copyright cleanup notice - it says so in the notice. Anyway your edits are not really problematic in this case, but I wondered if you were aware of that point?

Particularily I wondered if Wikipedia:AutoWikiBrowser hid the copyright template from you or something? If so it might be worth mentioning it to the tool creators - since pages with Template:copyviocore shouldn't be edited - I guess the program could spot this..

Otherwise it's not really a problem since what you did was cleanup, not changing the text etc.Sf5xeplus (talk) 15:41, 27 September 2010 (UTC)

There's no logic in AWB to alert the user to such templates, I didn't notice it (only checking the validity of my edit rather than for any such templates). I'm not sure if AWB should prevent editing of such articles as editing is allowed in order to resolve the copyright issue, AWB could be used for that. Rjwilmsi 16:20, 27 September 2010 (UTC)
Technically (at least according to the template message) editing of the main page should not be done. Attempts to make a copyvio free page are done at a subpage. It's mentioned at the template text beginning with the heading Do not edit this page until an administrator.... Sf5xeplus (talk) 21:14, 27 September 2010 (UTC)
I'm not an expert on the copyright violation procedures or templates. If you feel it's clear cut then the copyvio templates could be made to include {{bots|deny=AWB}} then AWB would automatically skip articles tagged with copyvio. Whether this is the right thing to do would need a suitable discussion. Rjwilmsi 21:47, 27 September 2010 (UTC)

Weird bot edit

Hi, is there a way to exclude generic names like the one retrieved by the bot in this edit? Best regards Hekerui (talk) 14:49, 28 September 2010 (UTC)

Certainly, I'll investigate what went wrong. Rjwilmsi 15:06, 28 September 2010 (UTC)
I've updated the bot script and corrected the article. Thanks Rjwilmsi 17:32, 28 September 2010 (UTC)

Can be the bot setup to run on a specific page?

I.e. manually submit requests? Nergaal (talk) 03:58, 29 September 2010 (UTC)

Which bot, RjwilmsiBot? If it's RjwilmsiBot then I can add a list of pages for it to process, but there's no automated request feature. Rjwilmsi 06:59, 29 September 2010 (UTC)

What did you do?

Hello. I'm not sure what you did here. Can you help me? http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Palms,_Los_Angeles&curid=548518&diff=387825012&oldid=379797055. Yours, GeorgeLouis (talk) 02:26, 30 September 2010 (UTC)

Set |work= for an latimes.com citation. Perhaps the confusion is that the title already included Los Angleles Times – this is not the right way to do things. I'll look to add logic to handle that. Rjwilmsi 07:08, 30 September 2010 (UTC)

Sorry. I have no idea what you are talking about. How does the page or text differ after you got through doing whatever it is you did? Perhaps there is a difference between "before" and "after," and I just missed it. Sincerely, your friend, GeorgeLouis (talk) 07:24, 30 September 2010 (UTC)

Look at the first reference in the references section. Rjwilmsi 09:13, 30 September 2010 (UTC)

Thanks, but I can't see any reason for the change, which simply repeats the name of the source, so I reverted it. Your friend, GeorgeLouis (talk) 13:30, 30 September 2010 (UTC)

Fine, I've further modified the cite to separate the title and source, since that's the conventional use of {{cite web}}. Rjwilmsi 14:43, 30 September 2010 (UTC)

Bot error 2

Howdy again. You had noted here that you had corrected the parsing problem with your bot, or perhaps you just meant you corrected it by hand. It seems to be continuing with any money.cnn.com reference, there are about 50 recurrences still in the wild. Is there a way to 'blacklist' that particular site for your bot? Thanks for all your hard work - I love the improvements your bot has made (aside from that one!)... :) Kuru (talk) 18:25, 30 September 2010 (UTC)

What you've reported to me now is a different error, and the first time I've heard about it. I'll fix it now. Rjwilmsi 19:14, 30 September 2010 (UTC)
Apologies, there were two sections in that archive entitled 'bot error'. Further down the page is the report I made. Kuru (talk) 19:17, 30 September 2010 (UTC)
Done Okay, cleanup complete and that error fixed for the future too. Detail if you're interested: CNN is annoying in that their website uses a whole host of different HTML layouts/format for their various pages, so scraping the write title/date/author information isn't straightforward like it is for say BBC News. The first time round I fixed the error for the pages mentioned, but the second time round showed that another fix was needed for a second batch of pages. Rjwilmsi 20:01, 30 September 2010 (UTC)
