- Do not blank out copyright violation tags until you clear up the issue. The file needs a image copyright tag and a url for where you got this image. Please provide one, or it will be deleted. — Moe ε 21:37, 8 April 2009 (UTC)
- "It is an official portrait of the Chief Justice of Pakistan and is a publicly released photograph. Fair Use" is an invalid claim of being public domain. By its very definition, it isn't public domain if it is fair use. Provide the url where you got the image. — Moe ε 17:57, 9 April 2009 (UTC)
File source problem with File:Iftikhar muhammad chaudhry.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Iftikhar muhammad chaudhry.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 11:00, 9 April 2009 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Radiant chains (talk) 11:00, 9 April 2009 (UTC)
Abdul Hameed Dogar referencing.
[edit]Re [1], I've reverted it again because
- not all the info in that infobox was referenced, especially not the info with [citation needed] tags,
- wp:v states "The source should be cited clearly and precisely to enable readers to find the text that supports the article content in question."
- wp:blp states "Unsourced or poorly sourced contentious material about living persons—whether the material is negative, positive, or just questionable—should be removed immediately and without waiting for discussion", I'm trying to fix this article because of all the libel,
- multiple citations to the same source should not duplicate the cite but should use the name parameter in refs,
- you removed the NowPublic which has a year which was missing from the Rushmore ref.
Please go read wp:v and wp:blp, and sign your talk page posts. -- Jeandré, 2009-04-22t14:18z
- Re [2]. If other articles are not following wp:v's "The source should be cited clearly and precisely to enable readers to find the text that supports the article content in question." then that doesn't mean this article (which had so much libel that the foundation was emailed about it) can also ignore it when challenged. The term starting date as Supreme Court Justice is only given a month and year in ref 1 - when there is no inline citation to where the info is coming from, readers have to go find other mentions in the article to see if it exists, and if it does if it has an inline citation. That's bad, like citing a book without a page number, making the readers go look for the source info instead of "clearly and precisely [citing the source] to enable readers to find the text that supports the article content in question." - wp:v. Please go read wp:v and wp:blp. Also see wp:cite which explains that multiple citations to the same source should not duplicate the cite but should use the name parameter in the refs.
- Inline citations mean I can check for birth_place in the annual-report2004 and since I can't find it in there I can remove that citation. Without inline citations I would have had to look in the article to find the bad citation, leading to a badly cited article. -- Jeandré, 2009-04-22t21:19z
- Re [3]. wp:v states "The burden of evidence lies with the editor who adds or restores material", so if someone challenges a fact, it needs to be reffed. Because of all the libel, and the information with refs which didn't state the information it was supposed to ref, I'm challenging everything to keep this article up to the standards required by wp:blp. If you think my edits are bad, you can ask to have me blocked.
- I realise the Supreme start date is from annual-report2004 p. 20 which is what I put in [4] 32 seconds before I posted "The term starting date as Supreme Court Justice is only given a month and year in ref 1". I also wrote "when there is no inline citation to where the info is coming from, readers have to go find other mentions in the article to see if it exists, and if it does if it has an inline citation", which was the reason why that info should be reffed inline.
- "Mr. Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar Born on 22nd March 1944. Passed B.Sc. from University of Sindh in 1966; LL.B., from Law College, Lahore, University of Punjab in 1969; enrolled as Advocate in 1970 and practiced law for 25 years; elevated as Judge High Court of Sindh on 10th April, 1995; elevated as Judge, Supreme Court of Pakistan on 28th April, 2000." doesn't have the birth_place - people are not always born where the go to University.
- The Syndicate position is reffed, the date is not in that source. -- Jeandré, 2009-04-23t06:28z
- Re [5]. If someone challenges a fact, it needs to be reffed. If no one challenges a fact, it can remain even unsourced. If it's sourced elsewhere and someone challenges it, it needs an inline ref. If that request for a ref is out of line (e.g. requesting that Earth be reffed as a planet everytime its called a planet in the same article), you can ask for the person challenging it to be blocked.
- Provide an inline ref for the Urdu spelling before including it. -- Jeandré, 2009-04-23t10:42z
Speedy deletion of File:Iftikhar muhammad chaudhry.jpg
[edit]A tag has been placed on File:Iftikhar muhammad chaudhry.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a non-free image with a clearly invalid licensing tag; or it otherwise fails some part of the non-free content criteria.
If you can find a valid tag that expresses why the image can be used under the fair use guidelines, please replace the current tag with that tag. If no such tag exists, please add the {{non-free fair use in|article name that the image is used in}} tag, along with a brief explanation of why this constitutes fair use of the image. If the image has been deleted, you can re-upload it, but please ensure you place the correct tag on it.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
Nominated DB because—
- Supreme Court of Pakistan claim copyright. Therefore, not Public Domain. Too large. Therefore, cannot claim fair use.
- Invalid source. The source provided, was for a PDF file. However Exact image can be found in google search.
