Ways to improve Future Investment Initiative

[edit]

Hi, I'm Vexations. Riyadhcafe87, thanks for creating Future Investment Initiative!

I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. The main reason that the Future Investment Initiative has been in the news recently are the withdrawals related to the disappearance of Jamal Khashoggi. This article was created around the time that news emerged, but makes no mention of it. See for example [1], [2] and [3]

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can leave a comment on my talk page. Or, for more editing help, talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse.

Hello Vexations
I drafted the article before the recent news broke. I understand that an update will now be necessary due to the recent mentions of the conference in light of this.
Therefore, I would like to propose an addition to the end of the “2018 conference” section:
Following the disappearance in Turkey of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi in October 2018, some speakers and sponsors who had planned to attend the event withdrew pending the outcome of investigations.[1] These included Los Angeles Times owner Patrick Soon-Shiong, the president of the World Bank Jim Yong Kim, and Viacom CEO Bob Bakish.[2][3][4]
Media outlets including The New York Times, the Financial Times, CNBC, Bloomberg, and CNN withdrew as partners.[5]

To Riyadhcafe87:
Hello!
Congratulations!
You have been included in my first, and possibly only, Very Early Christmas List!
As an earnest fellow believer in Santa Claus, and possibly in Our Redeemer Liveth as well, you may wonder how you got on this list.
I have no idea!
Actually, I do, and I'd like to take this opportunity to commend you for your civility and your conscientiousness. You've been a very model of what Wikipedia needs from paid editors. When there was a misunderstanding on Talk:Future Investment Initiative, you didn't lose your temper or blame anybody (me!) for not getting it, you just continued to clarify your point effectively.
All the best for you and yours this Christmas 2018 and New Year 2019!

Your email

[edit]

Hi. I got your email. I was only marginally involved with the events you describe, so there's really nothing I can do here. There's also nothing in your email which needs to discussed off-wiki, so if you wish to pursue this further, please post to some on-wiki forum or talk page. Thanks. -- RoySmith (talk) 13:30, 24 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
