If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Rising Waters requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Moogwrench (talk) 00:14, 28 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Don't be too discouraged ...

[edit]

One of the things that you have to realize about Wikipedia is that a musician or a band (or anything else, for that matter) needs to be considered notable if it is to be included in Wikipedia. Your article doesn't seem to suggest that Rising Waters is particularly notable or important.

You will notice that it has not been deleted yet, and even if it were, it could be undeleted if that were necessary. The point that you have to take away from this is, in order to avoid speedy deletion when you create a page, you need to make a credible claim about the importance of your subject. In order to continue to survive as an article, the subject must be notable. Please read the General notability guideline section of the notability page. Also, please be aware that notability must be established by significant coverage in reliable sources. What this means is that you have to have good, strong, reputable sources that cover your subject in detail.

If you have sources to back up a claim of importance/notability, all the better; add them, because the article will need it. However, if you can't tell a reader why this band is particularly important in the body of the article, even without sources, then the article will probably be deleted, sooner or later.

Every editor has to go through this process, so don't feel too discouraged. If you want help, ask me and I will try to help you as much as I can. Moogwrench (talk) 03:28, 28 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, the username you have chosen (Risingwatersband) seems to imply that you are editing on behalf of a group, company or website.

There are two issues with this:

  1. It is possible that you have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, you must exercise great caution when editing on topics related to your organization or adding links to its website.
  2. Your account cannot represent a group of people. You may wish to create a new account with a username that represents only you. Alternatively, you may consider changing your username to avoid giving the impression that your personal account is being used for promotional purposes.

Regardless of whether you change your name or create a new account, you are not exempted from the guidelines concerning editing where you have a conflict of interest. For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. The article in question is Rising Waters. Thank you. MikeWazowski (talk) 04:01, 28 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Because we have a policy against usernames that give the impression that the account represents a group, organization or website, I have blocked this account; please take a moment to create a new account with a username that represents only you. You should also read our conflict of interest guideline. If your username doesn't represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} below this notice. Thank you.
