User talk:Riki
Hi Riki, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thanks for your contributions to the coolest online encyclopedia I know of =). I sure hope you stick around; we're always in need of more people to create new articles and improve the ones we already have. You'll probably find it easiest to start with a tutorial of how the wikipedia works, and you can test stuff for yourself in the sandbox. When you're contributing, you'll probably find the manual of style to be helpful, and you'll also want to remember a couple important guidelines. First, write from a neutral point of view, second, be bold in editing pages, and third, use wikiquette. Those are probably the most important ones, and you can take a look at some others at the policies and guidelines page. You might also be interested in how to write a great article and possibly adding some images to your articles.
Be sure to get involved in the community – you can contact me at my talk page if you have any questions, and you can check out the village pump, where lots of wikipedians hang out and discuss things. If you're looking for something to do, check out the community portal. And whenever you ask a question or post something on a talk page, be sure to sign your name by typing ~~~~.
Again, welcome! It's great to have you. Happy editing! --Spangineer (háblame) 10:54, Jun 16, 2005 (UTC)

Redundant ategories
[edit]If you add a category like Category:Dutch guitarists, we don't need Category:Dutch musicians anymore because the former is already part of the latter. Rl 11:34, 13 August 2005 (UTC)
- Thanks Rl, I hadn't noticed. Riki 11:49, 13 August 2005 (UTC)
Censoring on Wikipedia:Announcements
[edit]You wrote: Hi David, why are you censoring my contribution to Wikipedia:Announcements without any justification? Riki 12:15, 22 December 2005 (UTC)
- Because the announcements page is not an appropriate place for it. The ramblings of a half-witted blogger who has nothing better to do with his time do not constitute suitable material for the announcements page, or for any other page that I'm aware of. That's all I want to say about the topic for now. David Cannon 12:20, 22 December 2005 (UTC)
- You're welcome. For my part, I'm sorry I wasn't in a very good mood when I wrote that explanation. While I stand by the content of what I said, I regret the tone I used, and apologize. David Cannon 22:10, 22 December 2005 (UTC)
Marines in Iraq
[edit]On the Marine Corps page under the heading "Iraq War", you made a contribution addressing the Haditha investigation. Do you really think this is necessary?? The article is supposed to highlight Marine Operations and seeing as this incident was limited to a small number of Marines and reflects poorly on the Marine Corps, it seems to me to be superfluous. I like what you have done with List of biopics. Would you might if I changed the date links from the general 2004 style to the film specific style 2004? Answering here is fine. Bejnar 01:18, 6 June 2006 (UTC)
- No problem, Bejnar, go ahead. Thanks, Riki 13:21, 6 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit]You might want to consider adding to the recurring themes section about John Irving's novels which of his books have a novelist as a main character.

Unreferenced BLPs
[edit]Hello Riki! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 2 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring these articles up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 138 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:
- Bernard Benson - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs) · FENS · JSTOR · TWL
- Bimi Ombale - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs) · FENS · JSTOR · TWL

Brussels Airlines head office photo request
[edit]If Brussels Airport is convenient to where you are, would you mind photographing b.house, the Brussels Airlines head office? The article needs an image of the airline head office. Thanks WhisperToMe (talk) 12:10, 5 February 2010 (UTC)
Thuggee;
[edit]Good edit! I added the Mark Twain material to Sleeman's inspiration, and to the aftermath, because a friend said he had often heard Sleeman's campaign was inspired by the murder of a British soldier, and he was disappointed that Wiki had nothing to say on the matter. It does now, but I may have overdone it. I like the way you focused the lede, and would appreciate it if you could improve focus on the part played by Feringhea, and on replacing the myth of response to murder of a soldier with the myth of British invincibility. Either way, myth played a vital part in Britain's control of her empire until it was blown away at Singapore, by those who had observed their lack of invincibility in the fields of Flanders. --Pawyilee (talk) 09:56, 27 February 2011 (UTC)

Belgian Films
[edit]Within WikiProject_Belgium you listed films as an interest. I've just posted an issue on the talk page there about the correct description for the language used in Belgian Films where Dutch/Belgian Dutch/Flemish is used. Perhaps you have some thoughts?
