Re: coordinates

Thanks for your helpful feedback. I've looked at the link you gave me and found it utterly impenetrable, other than the general point that you should be less precise when giving coordinates for a larger object. I understand that.

For a small settlement like Arrington, what would be a sensible number of decimal points to use? I'd find that more useful. Incidentally, the reason I changed that one was because the previous coordinates were for a field away from the village - surely not helpful to anyone?

Because of the shape of the earth the distance represented by 1° varies as you move away from the equator. Anyway, for Cambridgeshire and assuming a village/parish is of the order of 500m–1km across I work on having three decimal places, giving an accuracy of about 50m. I hope that helps. Aleshia brevard

Hi, I removed your prod from Aleshia brevard. I initially listed it for speedy deletion as an attack page, but further digging on my part indicated some notability as first a famous female impersonator, and later as a spokeswoman for transgendereds. It's true that the article doesn't say that, that's why I put all those tags on it.  :) Who then was a gentleman? (talk) 20:32, 12 March 2009 (UTC)

If you have found some notability for this person then you should add it to the article. The article serves no purpose as it is. It might be more use to improve the article than simply tag it. Rich257 (talk) 08:59, 13 March 2009 (UTC)

David X. Li entry

Hi Rich257!

I noticed that you are one of a few contributors to David X. Li's wiki page and I'm curious to know if you've read WIRED's March 2009 issue. If so, did you pick it up at a newsstand or are you a WIRED subscriber? If you are a subscriber, how long have you been subscribing and what do you do for a living? What are your thoughts on WIRED's March issue and Felix Salmon's article? I hope I'm not being bothersome, I'm just curious because I am a longtime loyal WIRED reader and I also work for the magazine, too.

Anyway, I just wanted to send you a message because the number of page views for David X. Li's wiki page have soared since it was revised on 2/24/09, which also happens to be the day that WIRED's March 2009 issue went on sale. I think it's great that you felt compelled to contribute to updating Li's page because, clearly, a lot of people wanted to find out more about Li and this obscure copula function that Wall Street misused. I would love to hear about yourself and any thoughts you have about the story, WIRED, or the financial system. Cheers!
