Your RFA
[edit]I suggest removing your RFA from WP:RFA. There is no chance of it succedding. Usually, you have to wait about 3-5 months to apply for adminship, not 3-5 hours. Moe ε 22:17, 11 March 2006 (UTC)
- Yes, I think there was a case where an editor was here for 2 1/2 month period and became admin, but anything less that that has failed. Moe ε 22:23, 11 March 2006 (UTC)
- I voted against you for obvious reasons. And no, there hasn't been someone before that was here for a day that got 30% of the vote. I doubt he got 10% Moe ε 22:30, 11 March 2006 (UTC)

Perhaps you were hacked and I failed to assume good faith. If that's the case, I'm sorry. But the fact is, there are generally five things people look for when voting on potential admins: 1) time spent on Wikipedia 2) large number of edits 3) broad range of edits (on articles, talk pages and project space) 4) lack of bad edits 5) friendly personality. Your account fails on all of the first four counts and with no experience on Wikipedia we can't make a judgement on 5).
Even if someone did 'hack' into your account, that's still the account that you're asking to be given an admin toolbox. Look at it this way - if your account is vulnerable to hacking, then we still have reason to be wary of giving it admin powers.
Continue contributing to Wikipedia, learn about our project, don't make any bad edits, come back to RFA in three months time or so and no-one will care what you did with your first edits. I certainly won't. In the meantime, I strongly recommend withdrawing your candidacy. The fact that you say "I will probably be the only one to support my nomination" makes it rather pointless by your own admission, and a possible violation of WP:POINT (don't disrupt Wikipedia to prove a point, which includes creating RFAs that go nowhere and create extra work for the bureaucrats maintaining the page). Thanks. --Sam Blanning (formerly Malthusian) (talk) 22:49, 11 March 2006 (UTC)
- Normally with a common name like 'Ricardo Lagos' it isn't an issue that someone famous happens to have it. (And conversely, when no-one else on the planet has that name, as with mine, it's even less of an issue). But with the vandalism to Ricardo Lagos that came from your account, it has become an issue. My recommendation would be to make a fresh start and create a new account that uses your middle name (assuming you have one and it doesn't happen to be Froilán), such as User:Ricardo Johnny Lagos or User:Ricardo J. Lagos, so there is no possibility of confusion. --Sam Blanning (formerly Malthusian) (talk) 23:19, 11 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit]Your username has been blocked indefinitely because it is either inappropriate or too similar to an existing username (see our blocking policy for more information). You are encouraged to create a new account and contribute to Wikipedia under a more appropriate username, and in a constructive manner. See Wikipedia:Username for guidance on selecting an appropriate username. You may also edit Wikipedia without creating an account. You are not allowed to edit Wikipedia under an inappropriate username. If you would like to discuss the block, you may edit your talk page or email the administrator who blocked you.
Due to Wikipedia's mechanism for enforcing name changes, your IP address may be temporarily blocked. Unless you have also been engaging in vandalism or impersonation of another user, we will remove that block as soon as possible—if this doesn't happen within an hour or so, please email an administrator and explain the situation (see the list of administrators).
If you want to keep the contributions from your old account for your new one, leave a note on Wikipedia:Changing username. This can only be done before you create the new one. If you wish to create a new username, please visit Wikipedia:Changing username for information.
The user name is inappropriate because of the full resemblence with a famous person Ricardo Lagos, especially because you are also editing that page. Your alternative account, User:Ricardo Eduardo Lagos Cerda, has been blocked indefinate also (by another admin) because it was a sockpuppet. I will have this page on my watchlist in case you have questions or solutions to solve this, if you want, I can consult the other admin if he thinks unblocking the alternative account would be an option. -- Kim van der Linde at venus 02:41, 4 June 2006 (UTC)
