Re. WikiBreak

[edit]

Thanks for wishing me a good break. I have internet here at my place in the highlands, but I have to share the computer with a little brat so I can't devote all my time to Wikipedia. :-P Best regards.--Húsönd 18:24, 1 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Talk page

[edit]

mmm... fixed it (I hope). The problem was that on some smaller monitors the archive box was hidden beneath the main box. I changed alignment to top & front (to make if float over the main box just in case) and made the vertical alignment less obvious (60px to 25px). Hope it's better... I can change it more drastically if you'd like. Also, your blurb in the header is bigger, meaning a bigger gap between the archive box and main box. — Editor at Large(speak) 20:14, 1 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism Reverts

[edit]

Riana, thank you for reverting the edits by vandals of my sorority and other Black Greek Letter Organizations! Bearly541 01:04, 2 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Considering this links from the Chem portal, you're hooked on portals, and it sucks, are you interested in working on it with me? Rfrisbietalk 04:40, 2 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Oh yes. Sorry I haven't had a chance to look at the dance portal much lately, I've been a tad busy, but scientific method is right up my alley. I'll be glad to help out. riana_dzasta 05:14, 2 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

One of these days I'll get around to nominating you.. then I'll get cold feet, go off to banninate an innocent newbie or something. Yeah, that'll make you feel loved. :) Okay, nap time. Back in an hour... Daveydweeb (chat/review!) 14:24, 2 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I like how your userbox says that your page has been tested rather than vandalised. Good job displaying good faith. Cheers! Oh and Nishkid says that he will be willing to nominate me for administratorship in March. Does this seem like a good time for it. Also I now have 4,000 edits!__Seadog 14:25, 2 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! I am so happy :D, what do you think about the list article now. I added some pictures and some references.__Seadog 14:30, 2 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks once again =), yeah I know the Stevie Ray entry has about 2 I think! But I am trying to do the best I can with only two books! Also I of course voted support in the Portal nom...great job. If you want you can help with the list (if you have references).__Seadog 14:37, 2 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Ahh...don't worry about, I will go get some today for my project. Good luck on the Sarod article and hopfully it can become featured! Also how dare you make me go through the history books to have to find your entry on my talk page =) Cheers!__Seadog 14:41, 2 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Question

[edit]

Sorry to bother Riana but I created a new page last night which can be found here. Which userpage do your like more my new one or the current one. Thank you! I am asking this since you know about this stuff :p. — Seadog 18:31, 7 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

IT is basically copied from some of Essjay's coding and such, I actually like it better because of its pretty images which symbolize something personal but I have had a lot of praise with my old one. — Seadog 18:44, 7 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

User:Elaragirl

[edit]

Hi Riana,

Thanks for your comments on WP:ANI. I did want to comment on something you said on the noticeboard:

I don't disagree, but I think that a warning (from an uninvolved party) would have sufficed, that's all. riana_dzasta 18:57, 7 December 2006 (UTC)

In fact, Elaragirl had already been asked repeatedly (by several users) to be civil and refrain from making personal attacks. That did not stop her from making the edits which lead to the block. In other words, the warnings she received did not disuade her from creating that attack page. In all fairness, how many warnings do you think a user should receive before a block is instated? Unless it is less than six or seven...

Anyway, best wishes, Firsfron of Ronchester 19:48, 7 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Upon further thought, I agree with you. Perhaps I interpret the blocking policy far too literally. While Elaragirl's opinions frequently mirror my own, I have never been accused of incivility, and appreciate how poorly sarcasm translates over the Internet. A short block may help her gain some perspective on her actions. I have also dropped her a note advising her to stay away from XfD/DRV for some time, which I hope wasn't too forward of me. Cheers, riana_dzasta 19:53, 7 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your note, Riana. You are right in that the blocking policy is open to multiple interpretations, and this certainly has caused some debate in the past. I don't think it was forward of you to comment, either on Elaragirl's talk page or on WP:ANI, or anywhere else. The more voices, the better. It is my sincere hope that Elaragirl will come back from her break refreshed and ready to tackle the encyclopedia again, whether she chooses to do that at XFD or elsewhere. Again, thanks for your comments. Best wishes, Firsfron of Ronchester 20:05, 7 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hi Riana, thanks, the first day back went well, or at least, OK. It felt as if everybody was "walking on eggshells" around me, if you know what I mean. I hope that it was simply a case of being uneasy around someone who has been sick for a while, and not a case of knowing about my suicide attempt (which I've kept secret offline, where I would have to deal face to face with people on a daily basis). The day could have gone a lot worse. Thanks again! --Kyoko 15:19, 8 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

On every page (where the media wiki logo) is a giant thumb! It is really weird, yesterday it was a pirate flag and earlier today it was a PI symbol but right now it is a thumb. Really weird. — Seadog 01:29, 9 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Kindness is important so that there may be an improved sense of community here on Wikipedia. As a reward, I offer this user a random piece of food. (I will never give the same food item out twice, so don't be jealous.) You may read a nice story on kindness over here. Thanks again! --Ed ¿Cómo estás? 03:02, 9 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to the AMA!

[edit]
File:AMA logo.png

Hello Riana dzasta, I see that you have decided to join the AMA. I'll be the first to say welcome! We're always in need of more advocates, especially since were backlogged most of the time. Just a few pointers for what we do. We communicate by putting a template on our talk page. The template is {{AMA alerts}}. The AMA also has it's own IRC channel, which reports new cases and alerts to us. It can also be used as a place to ask for advice on an issue. If you'd like to jump right into a case, you are free to check out AMA Requests for Assistance, which is our new request for advocacy system. The instructions for how the technical part works is on it's talk page. You can also use the AMA userboxes that appear under here. If you have anymore questions about the organization, just ping any advocates talk page, including our coordinator Steve Caruso, or deputy coordinator Wikiwoohoo. Again, welcome to the AMA! -Royalguard11(Talk·Desk·Review Me!) 20:09, 9 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Riana, my understanding of Wikipedia:User page is that the userpage is not the property of the user and is open to editing, as is (almost) all of Wikipedia. Thank you for voting in my RfA which at 51/20/6 unfortunately did not achieve consensus. In closing the nomination, Essjay remarked that it was one of the better discussed RfAs seen recently and I would like to thank you and all others who chose to vote for making it as such. It was extremely humbling to see the large number of support votes, and the number of oppose votes and comments will help me to become stronger. I hope to run again for adminship soon. Specificity will be furhter gone into via email, which I'll send you when I get home. It's quite unsettling. --ElaragirlTalk|Count 22:23, 11 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
