Help needed with Kiki Kannibal / Kirsten Ostrenga page
[edit]This young lady has become a notable internet celebrity. How do we make a page for her? http://www.rollingstone.com/culture/news/kiki-kannibal-the-girl-who-played-with-fire-20110415 RexZeedog (talk) 19:48, 23 April 2011 (UTC)
- Hi there. I've copied this here, from Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard (where you posted it) because that forum isn't an apprpriate place for this type of question. The best way to get this kind of help is to write the message here on your own user talk page, and then put {{helpme}} - and a helper (like me) will come along and answer you.
- Now - regarding "Kiki Kannibal". As with most things on Wikipedia, the best approach it trying to do it yourself, and seeking help where necessary.
- Step 1 is, gather references to 'reliable sources' - such as reputable news websites, and newspaper articles about the person. Please see WP:VRS.
- You might think the person is notable, but in order to be accepted in a Wikipedia article you need this specific evidence of significant coverage.
- A good place to start is, doing a 'Google News' search - this. That shows 7 results, but be careful - several of them are blogs, which are not 'reliable sources'.
- So - there is the Rolling Stone piece you mentioned [1], but the Zimbio one [2] is really not a great source, and only says 'see the Rolling Stone'. I'm not sure if "NowPublic" [3] would be classed as a reliable source - you could ask on the Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Noticeboard - but, again, it is really a short reprint of the info in Rolling Stone.
- The Forbes story [4] is a blog, and it looks like the Parkersburg News one [5] is too (although I can't actually see it, without a subscription).
- The 'KansesCity' link doesn't seem to work [6] and I can't find the entry on their site with a search [7].
- Das Drama [8] might be OK - sources do not have to be in English.
- So - really, we've just got Rolling Stone, and that German one. That's not enough, to show notability.
- At that point, I would therefore give up - for now - because I can't find enough coverage. However, if you can - perhaps, other offline newspaper references, or whatever - then you could start writing an article. Best way to do that is, by using the WP:WIZARD - and I recommend, at the end of it, choosing to submit it for review (as your first article).
- I hope that helps. See also WP:FIRST. Cheers, Chzz ► 03:55, 25 April 2011 (UTC)
