I would like to cancel my account but there is no information anywhere on how to do this. I believe users have a legal right to cancel accounts to control our digital life, as my username is my real name and I was not aware this would be visible and it's a privacy issue. I would appreciate your canceling my account to ensure my digital privacy and follow GDPR compliance.

Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include, but are not limited to, links to personal websites, links to websites with which you are affiliated (whether as a link in article text, or a citation in an article), and links that attract visitors to a website or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. If you feel the link should be added to the page, please discuss it on the associated talk page rather than re-adding it. [1]GermanJoe (talk) 14:41, 2 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks a lot @GermanJoe: It is my first time here and I didn't know about this.
The advice given above should be considered 1) mandatory reading, and 2) as applicable to all Wikimedia's wikis. Such conflict of interest / paid-editing is problematic. Representing an educational facility, it would be hoped that you would be aware of that, and respectful of that. — billinghurstsDrewth22:42, 2 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Dear Billinghurst @Billinghurst: Dully noted. I am new here and I was not aware of these rules.
I am new on Wikipedia and was not aware of these comments above, I wanted to cancel the links but I can't figure out how to revert this. Anyway, I apologise for the inconvenience. I would like to cancel my account but there is no information anywhere on how to do this. I believe users have a legal right to cancel accounts to control our digital life, as my username is my real name and I was not aware this would be visible and it's a privacy issue. Please let me know how to solve this privacy issue. I would appreciate someone providing me some guidance on how to cancel my account to follow GDPR compliance. @Billinghurst:
Accounts cannot be deleted for legal reasons, as all edits must be attributable to someone. You could attempt to request a courtesy vanishing, but it may be refused and I'm not sure you have a sufficient edit history to do so. You could also just change your username at WP:CHUS or Special:GlobalRenameRequest and then abandon your account, though a record of the username change would remain.
I appreciate your prompt reply. I was not aware of Wikipedia not following EU regulations on privacy when I activated my account, this is disappointing as I wouldn't have done it if I knew I wouldn't have a right to cancel. Especially because my username is my real name and it's a serious privacy issue for me.
