Jump Gate Technology
Please be patient with the situation at Jump Gate Technology. The compatibilty of different open-content licenses is a tricky business; for example, we can't reuse Creative Commons "cc-by-sa" material on Wikipedia. It's not as simple as "allowed to be posted on public internet sites"; what Wikipedia can accept and redistribute to other people is limited by a more complicated set of rules. I'm not getting at you personally, I promise. --rbrwr± 23:27, 10 Jan 2005 (UTC)
SPAM? Copyvio?
I am concerned about some of your most recent contributions. Specifically The Matrix (d20). It seems to be a promo for somthing (an ad). All it says is comming soon. I'm going to speedy delete the page in a minute unless you object. Other pages such as Conestoga (Mekton Zeta) also should be dealt with (the images have no copyright information and the text is a copyright violation). Hopefully we can sort this out. - In fact everything in Category:Serena Dawn Spaceport looks like an ad. BrokenSegue
Thank you for uploading Image:Mi-Go.gif. Its copyright status is unclear, so it may have to be deleted. Please leave a note on the image page about the source of the image. Thank you. 02:08, 8 May 2005 (UTC)
- In fact please do this for all of your images. BrokenSegue
- Hello again. I see you've been adding sources for your images. For an image not to be deleted we need a source and copyright (public domain, GFDL, creative commons, etc). It seems to me that the image you have uploaded are not freely available. Sorry for the trouble, but as you can see below they will be deleted. BrokenSegue 11:55, 13 May 2005 (UTC)

Articles
Another admin has gone through and deleted many of the articles which you created. I am sorry that it had to come to this. In the future please make sure that your articles do not look like advertisements and the content of the articles is encyclopedic. If you continue to add spam like articles punitive measures may be taken against this accound. You might want to consider making one article on the website instead of many on each little project. That would help establish notability and importance. Even then the article might not be usable. Sorry we hade to meet in such bad circumstances. BrokenSegue 00:43, 18 May 2005 (UTC)
- Please don't upload copyrighted material to wikipeda. The content you put on Enslavers (Warhammer 40,000) is in fact copyrighted and will be deleted. Thanks. This link is Broken 06:47, 3 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Hi Jesse, Please don't remove copyvio tags from articles. Also, please don't add text to wikipedia that has been previously published elsewhere (unless you can document that it is Public Domain or GFDL).--Duk 19:59, 22 July 2005 (UTC)
- Please don't remove copyvio tags from articles. Read the instructions on the copyvio tag.--Duk 20:07, 22 July 2005 (UTC)
OK, just looking through the second paragraph of the page you restored; the first text I sample ...communicate through a hideous creature known only as the... was previously published here on Dec. 26. Whoever first wrote this owns the copyright, is that you? If so then you need to document it on the talk page. And this was the very first piece of text I sampled. Again, read the instructions on the copyvio tag and pay particular attention that part that says Those who repeatedly post copyrighted material may be blocked from further editing --Duk 20:20, 22 July 2005 (UTC)
- I understand when you say the text is copyrighted by Westwood, but what do you mean by open content. We can't use copyrighted material from Westwood, unless we get permission or claim fair use.--Duk 20:27, 22 July 2005 (UTC)
- Just because Westwood is dead doesn't mean that their copyrights have lapsed, someone else probably owns the assets of the company now. If you want to use Westwood material under the fair use doctrine you might want to consider enclosing the quoted material with '' (double apostrophes) so it doesn't look like you are claiming the text as you own composition. You should also read up on fair use at WP:FU. Otherwise, be extra careful not to use copied material for this article since it's getting extra scrutiny due to the copyvio listing. Finally, re-write the article at the /Temp link provided in the copyvio tag (other people have already started doing this).
Hey Jesse,
Can I trouble you to re-write this article at House_Ordos/Temp instead of House_Ordos. The reasons for this are:
- To follow the instructions on the copyvio tag.
- Other people have already started re-writing the article, we don't want to throw away their work.
- It allows us to delete the article, including the history that contains copyright violations. Then the re-written article at /Temp gets moved up to replace it.
I'm really not trying to be a jerk here, and I know you are working hard to re-write the article. --Duk 21:36, 22 July 2005 (UTC)
I just posted the following on WP:CP. I thought you might be interested, so I'm reposting it here. As of this version my google testing random phrases throughout the article revealed no copyvios. I recomend that the listing on WP:CP be closed. Copyvios are not to be removed from the history unless the copyright owner requests it. On another note, you might be interested in reading over the Copyright, and Public domain articles (if you haven't already); they do provide a lot of good background on what is and isn't alloweable to copy from other places. Thanks for your work on Wikipedia! JesseW 21:51, 22 July 2005 (UTC)
House Ordos - resolved
The old article has been deleted and the re-written article swapped-in.
The images for this article need information on their source. They also need a copyright tag or else will eventually be deleted. Game screen shots are usually tagged with {{fairuse}}, see WP:ICT. As the uploader, you are responsible for making this determination and assertion. --Duk 23:35, 22 July 2005 (UTC)
